No snow at all here but it is usually the way, cars from seven miles away were coming in with a thick covering on their roofs. Hoping the train tonight is OK as otherwise I won't be going anywhere for Xmas.
I need to get myself focussed as I leave at 6pm and I haven't packed or wrapped my presents and I need to nip into town0 -
dmv~Please take care.
As you say its the drivers who drive as if conditions are normal that are the problem. To think Im worried about driving 20 miles & you have to drive 200:eek:I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Hello all,
I forgot to weigh in again today - meh! I am officially useless at this now. I did step on the scales at the weekend, and despite the Lo battery sign, managed to get an unsatisfactory reading, that shows I've gained +3lb!! Not a good way to go into Christmas, and that probably puts me at about 12lbs gained since the summer now, which is just awful. I feel so uncomfy again, and we've not even had christmas dinner yet! I feel the same now as I did a year ago, just waiting for the festivities to be over so that I can get myself back on the straight and narrow. It's not such a bad thing, as I have been feeling like this a few weeks now, and am determined to attack the 1st stone with gusto come January, so know that in about 6 weeks time I'll be feeling much better again. Seems so silly to be covering old ground, yet again, and losing the hard fought poundage all over again, but I only have myself to blame.
Anyway, enough of all that self-indulgent drivel.
BB - glad you are starting to feel better again. A friend of a friend had a bad experience where she lives in Brighton, and was out shovelling the snow from under/around her car to try to move it; got shouted at and hassled by another neighbour to give him her spade, as he needed to get out faster than her, she walked around her car to avoid him, slipped on the ice, fell and knocked herself out! Paramedics came and took her to hospital with a cracked head. Fortunately another neighbour witnessed it all, and then tore the horrible man off a strip for being so nasty.
dmv - have a safe journey, and you're taking the sensible approach and going prepared.
fred - we've had thick snow since last week, had more last night, and our road is still thick with it. Driving is treacherous, and main roads still have just channels for your wheels, with snow either side, which doesn't make for safe driving. Fatal accidents going on all around this area, sadly.
Today I will be wrapping presents, and then I am about done. Some last minute baking still to be done, and trying out some new recipes. I do love my new blender, but it does mean I am more interested in baking again!! I'm making truffles today.
Stay safe everyone. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
ypu know maybe i'm tempting fate here but in leeds we've got noooooo issues that i've seen. i live on a very steep hill that the council are considerate enough to keep well gritted, and I wenton a 50 mile round trip to waitrose last night with no issues at all. how odd is it that just across the pennines my dad is fighting to open his door against the door snow piled on it!
ran the dishwasher last night - yay! on the minus side, still no hob, and if the weather doesn't improve, there will still be no hob. However, not too worried - got the gas stove to parboil the spuds on for the roasties, and can cook the beef in the oven - that s all we really need isn't it!? must get some more pics now it's looking like an actual kitchen. And lol granny - my mum and dad's kitchen went in 10 years ago and he still hasn't installed the plinths at the top of hte wall units.0 -
Hi everyone, i'm planning to start back with SW in the new year , one of my friends has been going since june and has lost 4 1/2 stone! Just wondered if anyone who is currently doing it could explain the easy extra?? I did SW ages ago and only had the options of 'red' or 'green'?? Just wondered what it was all about and if it actually works as well??Goal weight....lighter than when I started0
-
hi gpuk - im on SW but im currently doing the red/green days as im not actually a memebr (and certainly cannot afford too) so am sticking to what i know best. i think it does work, but even my firneds who do go to the groups are sticking to red/green. although extra easy does seem to eb easier, i think if you get ti wrong your far more likely to gain than if you hae alip up with r/g days. this is all ive heard tho. sorry to not be very useful...good luck tho! xxshift the bulge! - 54lb lost so far :j .....alot more to go......:eek:0

Have a lovely time granny, i love a good spa. Mum and moi are planning on going again next year for a bit of mother and daughter bonding haha. My mum hates all of that "mother and daughter bonding" and "quality time" I say it to wind her up.
My uncle is in hospital at the momentHe might not make it out for christmas, so were all praying he does. Also found out someone else hasnt had a good year on a christmas card today, someone who deserves alot more. Quite sad
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh i held a baby last night. WOAH, scary things. There i am being all broody but after the midwife programme and then holding this 4 month old i think i am not broody anymore. It just didnt do it for me. I had no clue how to hold it or what to do with it, he probably knew that aswell because he started to go all red and then try and grip on something like he was trying to poo. It was funny though.
right im off, i got some doughnuts to my right and a magnum to my left with a cuppa tea in the middle!0 -

Yay!! Spa now has internet... free.
I'd recommend this spa for you and your mum Vix. Not snooty at all and really lovely. I'll pm you if you're interested.
KPC - the previous kitchen we had was completely installed by Mr Granny and wasn't actually finished completely 28 years later when the new one went in.
