PS - i've gone over my £500 PAD mark! Wooooooooo! :j

    :T:T:T Well Done Matt - that's fantastic! :T:T:T

Just getting a bit down lately as I've needed to use cards a few times. I don't feel I've been frivolous as most of it was to keep my van on the road i.e. being able to earn money.
Also, I bought a halogen oven. I regard this as a fuel saver At least I'm now off contract and doing Asda's very cheap PAYG.

The things I've cut back on this year are:-

£87.60 p.m. (term assurance cancelled a few months ago)
£25 p.m. (Vodafone contract just cancelled - to be substited by maximum of £10 PAYG)
£41.38 (garage rental cancelled this week)
£?? reduced gas bill to be partly replaced by slightly higher electricity bill)

The really big saving has been with my attitude to debt and spending though. Just taking my own sndwiches to work and drastically reducing (now completely stopped) cafe stops etc has saved a small fortune..
    And still I'm always skint.
    Ah well.

I really feel for you Paul, it is soul destroying that you have cut out everything and are still falling short. But you are doing amazingly well and are very disciplined.
For fear of sounding like a cracked record (feel free to give me a virtual slap if you like :o), but I'm sure you could make some extra cash.
I haven't tried it yet, but you strike me as someone who could be good at matched betting .
Scratchcards and bingo I know I have bleated on about, but for very little time a day, you can (and do) win between 10p and £100 (or more) every day!
More than anything, it's a mental boost - as you see little trickles of cash coming in. My OH poo-pooed the idea of 10p's a day at first. Then when I told him it adds up to a fiver here, tenner there and a couple of £85 and £100's - he changed his tune.

PLEASE give it a go - it might make a real difference :) (promise I won't mention it again :D)

Matched betting I won't touch. Although I've no doubt that I could figure it out, there's a niggling doubt there that doesn't trust myself.
As for the bingo/scratchcards, I will do it starting fairly soon. I don't even have the tenner to start me off with it at the moment. I will have it in about a week (as usual when some cheques have cleared) but if I were to spend a tenner right now, it would cause a direct debit to fail on Tuesday. I've got tomorrow's covered but not Tuesday's. I'm just over £90 short in the bank for Tuesday's DD. I have picked up £75 in cash so that leaves £15. I will probably pick up a bit of cash tomorrow as I work but I can't rely on that. I can see me using Tuesday's change float to cover the DD (if there's enough) - though I am picking up coins as I de-clutter and tidy up in here. I found three quid earlier in a pair of jeans that have been in the wash basket for a week or so.
I've no idea how I will pay my tax bill in January. It's likely to be about 5 grand though it is uncalculated as yet.

EDITED TO SAY: I'm really pleased that I built up a non perishable, reduced price food, store a few months ago. I'm living on it at the moment. There's enough to avoid a main shop for a few weeks yet.
  • Paul if you pay the date in pennies every day for a year you will pay off £57.38 (£57.67 in a leap year) so yes every penny does count

    DTxx

Hmm, what exactly do you mean, can you explain this a bit more, sounds interesting!

And an enormous 60p from me today :p

    It means:-
    1st of month - pay 1p
    2nd of month - pay 2p
etc up to 31p (depending which month you're in).
Then, the following month 1st = 1p etc etc.

It's amazing! I think you could have a good drinking game for every time someone says "Dammit, Jack" or "I'll explain later" :rotfl:

I have watched 16 episodes of the new series since yesterday morning :o Just had a quick break to have a shower and get out of my jammies and about to resume watching :D

    Hi everyone.

Havent been on here this weekend - been busy busy busy!

OH and i made a start on our christmas shopping on saturday and got quite a few bargains! But then we got home and he sat on my glasses  they are beyond repair so i had to buy some new ones this morning. Got to wait a week until they are ready though.

So PADs might be low this week, but i am glad we havent had to put anything on the credit cards despite disasters such as the glasses. Will go and check what i can PAD today!

  • I really fancy joining this - seems such a good idea.

Do people actually make payments to their cards (e.g. ring bank/go online and pay the amount)? Or do you generally bung it in a relevant pot?

Just nosey as I'd rather not upset the bank ...!
  • Evening All,

My PaD for today is £3.00.

Hope everyone is well and has had a good weekend xx
