That sounds a bit more worthwhile.
Just getting a bit down lately as I've needed to use cards a few times. I don't feel I've been frivolous as most of it was to keep my van on the road i.e. being able to earn money.
Also, I bought a halogen oven. I regard this as a fuel saver though I'm de-cluttering before I start using it.
I suppose the new mobile was a bit frivolous but I did actually need to get a newer one. The old one works but the way my luck has gone with mobiles in recent years, I do realise the importance of having a back-up phone. I do need to be contactable while I'm out working At least I'm now off contract and doing Asda's very cheap PAYG.

The things I've cut back on this year are:-

£87.60 p.m. (term assurance cancelled a few months ago)
£25 p.m. (Vodafone contract just cancelled - to be substited by maximum of £10 PAYG)
£41.38 (garage rental cancelled this week)
£?? reduced gas bill to be partly replaced by slightly higher electricity bill)

I've even been tipping six years old diesel in the tank (heavily diluted by fresh diesel just in case) as I had some stored at the back of the garage. Hasn't caused any van running problems.

The really big saving has been with my attitude to debt and spending though. Just taking my own sndwiches to work and drastically reducing (now completely stopped) cafe stops etc has saved a small fortune. The only cafe break I have these days is one who is a customer of mine. I regard that as a customer relations excercise (they do a nice panini too ;) ).
    And still I'm always skint.
    Ah well.
