Paul, don't people have to pay you up front? You seem to always be owed money but the guy who does my parents windows always gets his cash in advance then comes round to ask if they want it doing for the next 3 months, and gets paid for those at the time or he doesn't do it. Could you do a similar system?
Another £6 for me today please Gilli. I'm off to the pub for a couple of Christmas drinks with a couple of mates in a bit, then got some mince pie making to do later!
Have a nice sunday everyone xx
I may well offer the bad/slow payers that choice (pay up front or lose the service). To do this for most of my good paying customers would be a bit insulting though. Also, commercial jobs only pay if you produce an invoice as that's just the way it works.
I've already stopped cleaning for one customer. If I don't get my money, I will take it to small claims. I know people can have financial problems so am reluctant to do this but they could have stopped me cleaning before the debt built up. Also, I would be totally happy to accept installments if they're having trouble. I'm not an ogre about such things. I would happily accept say, £5.20 a month for 10 months or even £2.60 for 20 months.0 -

£1900 is a HUGE amount to be owed at any time of year Paul, but I guess its compounded at this time of year because work is slow. I hope you do get some of it back soon, and I think you're being very reasonable about installments! The PAYG idea is a good one too
I'm always amazed by your positivity towards... well everything really!

I've got plenty of work. I just don't have the temperatures in which to carry it out. I tried working once when it was too cold and the water just froze on the jets. It looked pretty though0 -

Morning all - brrr cold in Caerphilly today! Very skint but hey, get paid on the 22nd! But it will have to be `rubber-chicken' wages for six weeks until the next big one.....lol
Will buy a couple more pressies for family and that's it.
Happy today as there's Quidco and mystery shopping money to come at some point and payouts on Onepoll and YouGov - £2 more before the magical £50 though never again! Been with the b***ers for nearly four years!
Also bless Mr Morrison last night, got things like packs of four pies, smoked salmon, fish and things like chicken legs for 9p a go last night. Will all go in the freezer and keep me and OH throughout most of Jan. It's gonna be tough but I'll really enjoy the challenge.
Highlight this week is free concert tickets for early Jan and I can use the cashed-in tesco points for a free Gormet burger meal for two afterwards. so happy days.....
So, it's a Pad today of 2p please Gilli (and thanks for all your hard work)
Anyhoo, catch you later all

Ok PADers, I’ve been and come back and done a bit of maths…And now I need some opionions please!
Thanks to the fact that we get four weekly pay, this month is our ‘free’ month for the rent, loan payment, CT and all other bills that fall on 1st of the month. I have worked out there will be just over £1k extra on pay day, providing OH gets paid correctly (a four weekly issue in itself!) So here is my query… where do I pay the money off? So here are the figures:
£3165 0% til May ’10 then 16.6%
£2419 0% til Oct ’10 then 15.9%
£1370 4.9% til March ’10 then 17.9%
£3900 15.9% - there are some cash advance fees/22.9% int charges on here from when OH withdrew some cash, but as they are itemised on the statement, he is paying them each month J
I also have an overdraft on the bills account that was at -£762 the day before pay day (£1k limit) 15.9% but first £250 free.
According to the snowball calc I should be paying the Egg off first (4.9% one) which is where all my PAD money is going… but I’m also thinking about my overdraft, and the £3900 attracting 15.9%. So I think my three options are:
1) Leave the money where it is, to clear the OD and create a small buffer of approx £200…. Then cancel the OD.
2) Pay the money off the biggest balance (£3900) as this is the one that’s making me the most tense!
3) Follow the snowball calc and pay it off the Egg card… then in March when the offer has finished, hope they offer me another deal, and transfer the whole £3900 (Egg has a £5k limit).
The OD doesn’t bother me too much as it is, because I round up each bill to the nearest £5 and we both pay a fixed amount, so it is very slowly being paid off. I know that if I don’t clear it completely, there is a risk we will use the money, so its either pay completely or leave as it is….
What do you think?

sarah, not sure if this is the "right" answer (ie i'm no expert!) but i would clear the o/d and cancel it - eliminates the temptation. then you are starting each month in the black (or - if you are like me - at zero!) but psychologically it is a big boost to get paid and actually have money, even if it is only for a day until the bills get paid, iykwim! good luck xxxxxMortgage free as of 11/11/15 !
:Anow... to start some serious saving :A
