  • Morning all
Very cold and frosty here today!

Paul I can only agree with what everyone else has said to you, you've done amazingly well this last year, so give yourself a pat on the back! We're all here for you whatever you decide :D

I have done very well in what have sometimes been awkward circumstances. I actually owe rather more than my sig shows though because I have a largish tax bill looming which I may need credit (if available) to pay for. When the amount has been calculated, I will add it to both parts of my sig because the bill relates to money earned before 1/1/09. Both the debt at 1/1/09 and the amount currently owing are a good few thousand more than the amounts on the sig. I reckon I will owe rather more than I did at the start of the year. And herein lies the problem. The more money I earn to pay my debts,. the bigger my future tax bills will be. What I need to do is to work at pushing my income up so high that I will have enough to pay the next tax bill AND to service my current debt levels. I still reckon I can achieve that but really do need low interest rates for a couple of years.
My fallback position is that even if I lose my home and end up BR, so long as I have basic shelter, food, and clothing, plus some sort of income, then I've still got more than half the people in this world. Happiness and peace of mind are, and always have been, far more important to me than material things anyway. Even financial problems aren't remotely as bad as the self inflicted problems I had in my youth. At least I have a free mind these days.

  • Paul, just wanted to say that I really admire your attitude. I've not been in the position you have, or in the same position of many who post, but I can say that from what you have posted you're doing amazingly well. I'm sure that whatever happens and whatever you decide to do, you will be doing it for exactly the right reasons and the peeps on this thread will support you through it.

trio of posts from me now - sorry for the thread clogging...

Euro, do you still have a UK bank account? If so, they may still be able to provide you with a credit card. I haven't had time to read through your thread on the CC forum yet so sorry if this has already been mentioned. Also, HSBC do offshore CCs. Not sure whether you have to have an account with them already but they do 15 months 0% on them x
