Help! Im looking to buy a new laptop to replace my desktop. I only really need it for watching films, storing music, photos and surfing the internet.
I want a really reliable (stylish) looking laptop and the budget is up to £800.
Ive been considering buying a Macbook (I dont need a pro considering what I need it for) but if I buy one Im only really buying it for the apple brand...Oh and because it looks so good! I think 13" is a little too small...
Im also considering a Sony Vaio but Im not sure how good these are? Any help is MUCH appreciated! I understand that I dont need a super laptop for what I want to use it for, but Id like it to be the best model I can get.
Thanks in advance!

Look at the date of review. The newer the better.
Remember to say thank you to people who help you out!
Also, thank you to people who help me out.
You buy a MacBook/Pro not for its looks but because you want to run Apple's OS X operating system.
If you want to run Windows 7 instead, you buy a Sony Vaio for its style.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.
I bought one ans it is brand new, they are having a clearout as new model has arrived, but the old model is great and will do everything you want.
Just looked and they have them for £579

..with 8gb of Ram
Or better still, buy a notebook which will take 8gb of RAM
and buy two 4gb sticks of RAM
Do Dells look good? The ones I've seen wouldn't win any contests for design. Functional maybe.
... with 8gb of ram and a poor gfx?
is their need or so much ram considering the limiting factor for the performance will more likely be the cpu or gfx

320GB HDD
4GB RAM
DVD DRIVE

£1k seems to be the cheapest macbook pro in the refurb store.
929 gets you a refurbed air.... so its quite a budget leap, you could get a super quick sony aw series with that money, ok so it has win 7 not osx but the hardware would more than make up for that.
It doesnt have to be portable tbh! I have a few friends who have various macbooks and they obviously rave about the os x, but I dont know if it really matters to me...I obviously dont know any better lol.
I just want it to be as zippy as possible and be good for watching tv shows/films! Ive had a look through various reviews but its all going a bit over my head tbh.
Thanks 4743hudsonj! I wouldnt have a clue how to put one together on my own lol. Ive also looked at the Sony NW20SF Laptop, does it seem any good?
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T6600
