Apathy to petrol prices
Apologies if there are threads on this but I couldn't find them. Am I the only one who is concerned about the ever increasing petrol prices? It seems the press ignore them and my friends are just accepting them. Apathy rules UK!!!!
We are nearing the point of £5 a gallon - doesn't anyone care?
If you know of an organisation out there that I can contact to support a call for petrol prices to be capped/reviewed please let me know.

everyone would love it to be lower, but it does pay for things we need, hospitals schools etc
if the tax wasnt taken on fuel it would be taken on something else
Besides diesel is 105 at the mo, it was 140 in June 2008!0 -
I blame Winky and Eyebrows for wasting too much and killing the economy...0

Blame China and India for their huge demand for oil. Blame the oil companies for using up all the easy access oil without making proper invest. Blame politicians worldwide for not giving out proper capital investment incentives to the oil companies for the last ten years so that they can invest and explore the oil fields that aren't so cheap to empty, and instead grabbing profits as windfall taxes. Blame the unstable political countries where most of the easier to access oil now lies and their ability to flex oil supplies from these countries as their political situation demands. Blame OPEC for generations of oil supply and price manipulation in order to maintain wealthy arabs in the manner that they've become acustomed to. Blame ourselves for just continuing to use without ever considering the fact that one day it might run out.
Get used to it, it's only going to go up.
And get rid of the idea that most of the world is paying less than us for petrol, take a look at most of the eurozone, their prices are remarkablu similar to ours now.0 -
Hasn't this been discussed before?.....0

He obviously can't control the wholesale price of oil, nor probably do much about the sinking value of the pound ... but he could have a word about that ca. 70% in revenue collected on every drop purchased.
But then where would the money that funds his huge salary and even bigger expense account come from???"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
noticed unleaded had gone from 103p to 105p over night (wed-thur) in my area.0

Control/capping of prices inevitably leads to supply shortages and rationing. Would you rather petrol were normally always available or maybe only there two days a week in limited quantities?
Just stop using the stuff - prices will pretty soon go down.0 -
in hertfordshire, unleaded is now 107.9 !!!!!!!0

They might, temporarily; but the long term trend will be upwards, and we will be nostalgic for the days when petrol was only £1 a litre.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
