Exploding oven door!

The oven had been on medium heat and was switched off. I had just taken something out and closed the door (gently) when the outer glass shattered into small fragments ending up as far as 6 foot away! It's a Candy oven fitted by the plumber who got it trade from Magnet a couple of years back. Do you think I have a case against Magnet?

Why is it that everything that happens in a house has to be laid against someone else's door. S**t happens, it's no-ones fault. Half the posts on this forum seem to be based on 'have I got a claim'I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Being unemployed and not exactly awash with cash, it would be a bit stupid of me not to check out the position..

I'd expect something like a cooker to last a lot more than two years.
How long can you expect something to last? | Consumer InformationLiverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I'll see what they say tomorrow (says she picking glass out of her hair with a bloody finger!)0 -
I do a lot of work for insurance companies and we have replaced a number of cookers where this has happened. This is a typical claim for accidental damage. Speak with your insurers and if they cant get it fixed it will normally be replaced.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I never even thought of that. God bless!0 -
but getting the retailer to fix it puts the blame where it should be and won't affect your future insurance premiums0

Yes well thanks for that helpful comment. If an appliance is just a couple of years old and you are not mistreating it, I just think you should be able to expect better. It's a fairly legitimate query for a money saving site I think.

Of course you should check whether you have claim against them!
Even if you were "awashed with cash" I believe it is surely reasonable to expect appliances to last longer than 2 years!
Or , are we meant to be moving towards disposables in this area too?!
Life is far too short to keep changing appliances...0 -
