Being a parent is certainly not easy! DS was in bed early last night for having a paddy over not getting his second ice cream. I always feel guilty afterwards but can't back down.

I think you should try and change your hours just for a trial period and see how it goes. We have two nights a week which are a nightmare, getting home at 6pm collecting kids, cooking dinner and not sitting down until late. I get so irritable and so the kids must as well. Hard balancing act but try it and see.

    Have a lovely day x

Being a working mum always involves juggling, whether you are full time, part time, with small children or teenagers.

And of course the "parenting" side of things just adds more stress to it.

But, just remember that whatever you do, however many hours you work, over however many days, and however early you send your children to bed.......you are doing things for a very good reason.

Thanks IMD, hope you've had a good day. I get in every evening at 6pm and usually leave the house around 6.30am. If I switch my hours, that will it - there won't be an allowance for a trial I'm afraid....

    Thanks Hypno and Taxi :A:A

I think I will stick with what I'm currently doing until Christmas. DH usually drops them off at 8.30am, so they are only at breakfast club for 15 minutes. But it does allow for early meetings if he needs to drop them in from 7.30 (this hasn't happened yet).

Also, if I only have one stop (unlike now with one at After School and one at nursery), I might get there at 5.15, so it might be ok.

I'm worried about losing my free day, when I could get alot done, so for now I am sticking to 4 days and will see how it goes :)

Hope you've all had a good day!

Sounds like the status quo is right for now - you can always change later on, but if there is no option for a trial, you don't want to jump in and do something you regret.

And yes, a day off can actually be worth far more than odd half hours here and there.

Thanks. I had a weird feeling of dread - about being trapped, so I'll listen to my instincts and play it by ear for now. At least I know the option is there should I need to in future.

Had to buy engine oil on the way home £6.99 Grrrr, but cheaper than a new engine I guess. £2 for School Summer Fair tickets, so I now have £1.80 to last until Friday Payday, which a very doable.
Once I've done some Flyladying (so much easier when it stays light until 10pm :j), then it's budget day, which is quite appropriate...in prep for Project Envelope.

I've got the option of leaving work early tomorrow to watch the match, but we have to make the time up - so I might do that and take advantage of the good weather :D

DS says they will let them go a few mins early tomorrow so they can race home and watch the telly. I will be at work, but as I was expected to watch the budget on one of the office TVs, today, I am sure I will be expected to watch the match tomorrow :D

Just watching Gok. He is fab, I love him! He's sooo good with the ladies he has on, he really give them confidence and style....
I saw him a couple of years ago in Glasgow standing outside a shop, I really wish I'd shook his hand, he rocks.
