Hi everyone, i've read this thread for a long time now but never had the courage to post. I will be joining in this chalange in January, no point in trying to stick to a budget with xmas next month, (but will still keep an eye on food bill) :rotfl:
Have just come back from Mr M, where I have bought to much fresh veg to keep in fridge, I was wondering where to keep it when on looking outside spotted my little plastic 3 tier greenhouse. Do you think it would be allright to keep winter root veg in there in a hessian bag or do you think the frost would spoil it. I know some people keep potato etc. in garages and sheds, but I think the veg would be more protected. Anyone any thoughts. Thanks0 -
Hi everyone - well that's me finished for November, declaring at £245.34 for Nov GC, please put me down for £400 for DEC GC please.
I know that seems like a big increase but I've decided to lump normal GC and any extras that I have to buy for Xmas together. Decided it would be too complicated to keep the 2 budgets seperate.:o
Dinner tonight is easy, found a couple of boxes of Faggots at the bottom of one of the freezers, must have bought them when they were on special so having those tonight to make more Freezer space, shall serve them with mash and some carrots, peas & sweetcorn.
Have tried to make my own Faggots in the past but can't beat the taste of the processed ones.:o
Shall be breaking into my Dec GC tomorrow, off to Lid! with one of the £5 vouchers from the Express.
Good luck to those still to declare.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Hi newgran, if you're storing fruit or veggies outside I would suggest if you possibly can, to hang in the bags/sacks well off the ground and away from any 'climbing frames' (shelves). Speaking from experience here, as it is possible to encourage unwelcome visitors if you store foodstuff in outbuildings. I accept that we are surrounded by fields, but it's just a thought.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Thanks elizabunny, did wonder about that, as during the summer months tried growing salad leaves and other bits and bobs but ended up feeding slugs and snails. As we don't have a garden this was an experiment in tubs in our back yard, don't know where they all came from. :eek:0 -
As many of us will be preparing a major roast meal for christmas day, I've put Raksha's failsafe yorkshire pudding recipe in the front page list; if you haven't already visited that thread its worth a look for time-saving ideas for christmas cooking.
and this is my 3000th post - talking too much .....:D... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Cheated slightly today as ended up spending £2 of my Co-op vouchers on grocery stuff - meant to keep them for Xmas choccies but I can only buy so many Co-op Xmas choccies!
Still managed to spend £6.12 (oh just remembered about a 50p bag of onions - will add to sig in a minute). So £6.62. £9.45 left.
Resigned to failure..possibly tomorrow as the kids all have an inset day and I suppose I will have to feed them! Only joking.
Hope everyone is having a good day.August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
Well my first attempt at the groccery challenge has been a disaster, not sure how much we spent?!
Had a few drama's this month got given notice on our rented house and have to move out in January and DH's car died, and the budget went by the wayside for a couple of weeks. At least he's realised the need to sort our finances out after this month so I'll have another go and say £350 for December, to include xmas food and drink:beer:.0 -
Mr L for a little top up and stuff to see me through to Monday only £34, but didn't have the voucher - grrrr.
Will tally up and report on Monday and get busy on the new threadI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -
I have gone 70p over budget this month, but I am surprised at myself as I included some christmas presents that I had added to my Mr T shop and also catered for a children's party.
So for Dec I am going to give my self the challenge of £150 including any christmas food and drinks. Its only myself and two daughters this year so I am going to cut out as much extra junk food that we don't really need as I can.Debt free wannabe
