    1. DD is 95% better, I would say 100% but she didn't eat all her lunch....but a lot more than yesterday!
    2. Took DD out for lunch at a pizza establishment where she ate free (yay) and we could refill our salad bowls :) and I was virtuous and had a pizza with half the amount of cheese on as usual - wow, I'll do that again, I actually tasted the vegetables!! Rather cheap for the 2 of us, especially as she fed me a couple of spoons of her icecream ;)
    3. Free parking in Brighton :)
    4. Used my A$da credit card to pay for a scary amount of petrol but at least I got 39p off thanks to my cc.......
    5. DD and I took time to smell some lovely roses in someone's garden as we walked by :)
    6. Fed the ducks......then realised we were right by a sign saying "Please don't feed the ducks" oops!! It wasn't there the last time we went to that pond, honest guv'nor!! They enjoyed their feed.....
    7. OH has been sending messages to see how the patient is :)
    8. DD helped me with my physio this morning and was fabulous :)
    9. Feeding a lovely friend's cat and guineapigs for the next few days, we love going over for cuddles with the critters :):)

Bit of bad news from here, I'm afraid. My sister's friend from school had her 2nd son a fortnight ago and my sister said a few days ago he just feeds and sleeps and is quite small. Today the friend found he is actually very ill and has a hole in the heart and something terribly wrong with his aorta. The children's hospital can't even operate as he is too weak. So please keep Ben in your thoughts. :-(

I'll try and do 5 for Friday and Saturday then do today's so far.

    Friday

    1) Took the car in for its re-MOT and everything went OK. It handles much better with its new wheel bearing. :-)

    2) Graze box came in the post.

    3) Went into town and met Dundeedoll - the first person I have met from MSE! Lovely to meet her and have coffee and lunch out.

    4) Quick but tasty tea of baked potatoes.

Hmm, can't think of a 5). Felt a bit down on Friday night.

    Saturday

    1) Felt pretty ghastly still first thing but picked up as the day went on.

    2) Took the boys out to play on their new skateboards. (Thanks to Dundeedoll).

    3) OH popped round with freshly made bread and I had recovered up to have a sensible conversation with him and a cuddle. :-)

    4) My school friend came round and we watched Dr Who and basically ate continuously - pizza and cous cous, tapioca then popcorn!

    5) OH came round later on. :-)

    Today

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Spent FOUR HOURS re-building the woodburning stove and am very happy with the results. It was a mammoth job and the boys helped a bit (now and then...) Had to drag it outside into the garden, take the chimney down, replace 3 firebricks and the metal baffle that stops the heat and flames disappearing up the chimney and put everything back together. Then we blackleaded it which was a vile job. Had to light it outside to burn the excess black lead off so spent the afternoon telling the boys 900 times to keep away from it as it had no fireguard round it while it was on the patio.

    3) Got all the washing done including the rug from the living room (might as well take the opportunity to get the room tidy while the stove was outside).

    4) Made a tray of brownies.

    5) Made a chicken curry for tea with rice and naan.

    6) Hoping for a quiet evening sitting on the sofa listening to the Archers on iplayer. Looking forward to OH popping in.

Got to away and make sure all 3 of us are soot free - baths and hairwashes all round and complete changes of clothes!

(((Ben))) FRITH Sending hugs, love, and reiki for that poor little baby, I can't imagine the pain his family and all you friends are going through :( Praying that he will get stronger (like my friend's baby did a few weeks ago) and that he'll soon be home with his family

    1. Into Darlo this morning to get my grand-daughter some clothes for her b'day and browse. Son had taken a friend home earlier, he drew up at the bus stop whilst I was waiting for my bus and basically went back the same route he had just come from as his conscience wouldn't let him leave me there! We had a good chat whilst he drove me in.
    2. Joy of joys, whilst just having an optimistic look in a shoe shop, I found sensible, stylish comfortable high-front loafers that fitted me well and don't look like something a 90 year old would wear. (They were also reduced by £3.)
    3. I found lots of tops for my grand-daughter in Primarni, had a happy time choosing for her. She hates pink, so there was an awful lot she wouldn't wear too!
    4. Also found whisky truffle bar in pound shop. Now a former whisky truffle bar. Oh well.....
    5. Son finished off cooking a late lunch for me whilst I got on with work. Roast chicken with roast veggies, both were on offer.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

our internet is back to misbehaving so gave up on it last night!

It's now Monday morning, start of a new week and all that!!

    Sunday's:

1.early start again! I honestly think my body clock is still in spring/summer mode! Had a potter, did some emails then popped back to bed for a wee while.

2.washed, hung stuff everywhere, ironed, stripped beds ! However, it is nice to climb into bed at night with clean sheets on.....just still got washing hanging everywhere !

3.Popped into next town & went to supermarket for one thing and surprisingly for me.....came out with only that one thing!

4.Bought a new vacuum cleaner....however, I confused the man in shop as I kept saying hoover & he kept showing me "Hoover" hoovers! which were 3 times more expesive than the one I bought! I wanted an upright as the pull-along we have was a cheapy we bought when we first moved here & is quite pants! Also sore on my back! And when I saw what this new cleaner lifted off the carpets! Yikes! So was like my new toy yesterday afternoon.....everything was hoovered!

5.DD1 & I had a tuna pasta bake for tea, whilst everyone else had steak & veg. I'm not a big meat lover though not vegetarian. OH & I used to have tuna pasta bake all the time when we were first married & poor, so it was a wee taste down memory lane!
DD1 also made the lightest pear & apple sponge for pudding! With custard! I bought a tin of birds custard powder (imported) as I can't find an equivalent here & a tub of aaaaah! Bisto granules as we don't like the alternatives here, so I decided to spend a bit more but we will enjoy it!

    Better get ready for work!

    have a good night x

Ben will be in my thoughts and prayers Frith
house elf/mcculloch I'm almost at the end of a box of powder so will look at making a bucket of gloop, but judging by the amount of powder I use half a bucket would last me about 3 years!
Molly what a lovely idea, a place that's a sanctuary from arguments, disagreements etc. Every home should have one :D

    1. No rush to get up today, I didn't have to be anywhere til 12.30pm so a leisurely breakfast. Well, as leisurely as you can make a yogurt and an apple ;)
    2. The usual Sunday lunchtime meeting with friends, restrained myself from the snacks brought along as I only have 5 days before my holiday to become sylph-like
    3. I seldom shop in Mr S as it's out of my way but just happened to go in yesterday looking for something in particular. Got a till spit in giving me double points on petrol so as I was running on almost empty I filled up to the brim today to get max points :D
    4. Looked into the price of instant tanning places, horrified at what they charge! So now I'm sitting here developing a decent tan from a Dove bottle. Don't want to be the only one round the pool with milk bottle legs!
    5. Carousel on television, I never tire of that film :)

    Night night, sleep tight

Frith, I'm sending healing and strength to Ben and all who love and care for him.

    My five pleasures for Sunday:

    1. Listening to the Food Programme on Radio 4 while I was ironing. It was all about specialist food producers, organics etc and the impact of the current economic climate. Very interesting.

    2. Listening to the last episode of 'Back Home' on iplayer while I was knitting this afternoon.

    3. Keeping the DSs supplied with enough food which is proving so tricky it's making me laugh. They are having a week off sport to give their bodies a bit of a rest. Neither of them have any spare fat on them and they just don't stop eating. Any suggestions for highly calorific, healthy, cheap, nut-free veggie/fish meals or snacks are seriously needed atm. I am so lucky to have healthy, hungry sons but I'm going to have to find a better way of managing the food side of things.

    4. Chat on the phone last night with my friend in the States.

    5. Lighting my lemon and mandarin 'housekeeper's candle' on the kitchen windowsill. I love the smell.

    Sleep well

Morning all, here's some pleasures for yesterday/today:

    1. A nice long lay in - woke up naturally at around 9:30am and felt great on it.
    2. A lovely workout. I pulled my calf muscle but think I've got that sorted out now and can go on with today's workout quite happily.
    3. Noticing the results - toning up means I won't have to buy any new clothes!
    4. Getting my sewing out and doing a bit more work on that - nearly done now
    5. Switching my mealplan aorund so instead of a roast dinner we had the moussaka we should be having later in the week. Luckily it was a ready meal and defrosted in time so we didn't have to wait (even if because of DH working on something we didn't eat 'til 9pm...)

Broomstick - I do a variant on Nigella's Breakfast bars. They're predominantly oats, mixed seeds and condensed milk with some dessiccated coconut in it. Also in the recipe is dried fruit and some nuts (though you can take those out). To vary things I add some chopped chocolate chunks, or whatever I have in the cupboard - glace cherries, that kind of thing. It's lovely with dried apricots in, and I tried it once with dried pineapple - VERY sweet but rather nice. Scones would be a nice cheap way, and they could be split easily with fish paste or mashed up sardines mixed with some ketchup.

Broomstick:I have a skinny malinky long legs son who is 6 foot & does a lot of serious cycling & we have never been able to fill him up......just eats all the time. Luckily he likes fruit & veg and always, always asks!

Frith: thoughts & hugs to baby Ben & his family.

    Monday evening already:

1.Misty, autumn morning! Had burned off by the time I was heading out to work & looked a nice day (out the window!) and the sky was a beautiful blue instead of grey!

2.Said hello to little wrens! I think that's what they are.....just googled & I think they might be winter wrens. Anyway, they are just so tiny & gorgeous and not at all shy. Not sure if people think 'strange talking to bird woman!'...don't care!

3.Home & got yesterdays washing ironed! Had a nice chat with DD1, she has a good sense of humour & makes me smile everyday.

4.Made chicken fried rice (with reduced chicken) for tea, very moreish ....as I kept going back for more!

    5. Going to sit & have the pleasure of watching Casualty on Youtube. Hope you all have a great day.

    Morning

Mcculloch - your trip to Darlo made me feel a touch homesick as thats where I grew up. My parents still live there and DD is there for a week at the moment. Must make a trip soon as not been since Christmas.
Frith - Ben is in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs to his family and friends
Sparrer - I was lucky enough to see Carousel live at the theatre with Lesley Garrett in it. It was amazing to hear her sing you'll never walk alone.

    Pleasures for yesterday:
    1. Long lie in and a lazy morning
    2. More washing line dried, just need to make a start on the ironing
    3. Another patch of garden cleared. Starting to see a difference now. I do have blisters on my hand of the secateurs though and a splinter in my other hand
    4. Tasty dinner of cashew nut rice (my favourite) and chicken marinated in a curry paste and gridled.
    5. Quiet evening with OH

Hugs to all who need them
