    Afternoon all

Sorry I didn't pop in to see you all last night but we had a power cut and it played jiggery pokery with my internet connection....it's still incredibly slow but getting better.

    1) Flying off to see my family and friends tonight - I'll be back Thursday....hopefully my connection will be a lot faster by then
    2) Went and had an informal chat with another company this afternoon about a job that sounds ideal....they're very happy with all my answers and are keen for me to meet the client and see how we get on. They're going to set up a meeting for when I get back :D
    3) Managed to tie up all the loose ends and get out of the office on time
    4) Free pie yesterday at work
    5) Just used up the left overs in the fridge which means I won't be buying expensive stuff at the airport ;)
    6) I've managed to time everything so I'm not dashing about like a mad thing....got a bit of time to potter around and get everything tidy before I leave :o
    7) Getting the washing and ironing done last night so I don't have to face too much when I get back

You all sounded a bit better last night so hopefully that will continue while I'm away - I'll try and pop in and see you - hopefully mum won't mind me borrowing her computer :p

    Take care

Afternoon everyone, hope you've had a good day. Mine's been alright, apart from the Bank Holiday traffic. Here's some pleasures for today:

    1. The farmer's market was in town, so I spent my lunch hour having a look at the pretty organic meats, preserves and cheeses. As a treat I bought a small lamb shoulder for Sunday lunch and a wedge of local cheese. It'll be my experiment to make them last as long as possible while getting the most out of them!
    2. The sunshine. The sun has come out and, after that little bit of rain we had yesterday, everywhere looks a bit greener. I know we could do with a bit more down here, but it is nice to see green.
    3. Hearing that the town I work in is going to have a Food Festival this Sunday and is free to enter! Yum!
    4. The lettuce seedlings on my windowsill have started to sprout.
    5. A good workout when I got home from work. It was a great chance to get rid of all of my stresses and I feel physically better for it too.

Have a good and safe trip, Carolyntia! :)
Mhagster - I second your jubilation about the end of the working week. Hurrah from me too, and hope things are going well with your job. :)
Villagelife - I love Pilates. It really gets my mind focussed and makes me feel stronger :)
Sparrer - A shame your friend had to cancel lunch, but having a meal delivered with enough for tomorrow is good going indeed! :D

Have a nice evening, everyone. (((hugs))) to those in need of one.

    Evening

Carolyntia - have a good trip. If your internet is still playing up try unplugging the connection at the phone socket and plugging back in, this sometimes resets the connection and it speeds up.

    Pleasures for today:
    1. No work today:j
    2. Got DD into London and on her train to go to my parents. Glad I had booked her a seat as train was busy. She got there safely so I could relax again once she got there. I am not a panicking parent really;)
    3. Bumped into my friend M in town so we went for a coffee well 2 actually and caught up on all the gossip and each others news
    4. Popped into Waitrose for a few bits I needed and everything I wanted was reduced slightly:money:
    5. Easy tasty dinner of meatballs and pasta. Was very cheap to make as well as all the ingredients had beed bought on special offer or RTC.
Sneaking 6th - Enjoying a glass of red wine

Hugs to all who need them

Yum yum to the banana chip flapjacks Drinkuppretty, they sound scrumptious :)
Well done on the workout Kitchenbunny :)
Bon voyage Carolyntia, hope you have a great break with your mummy :)

I've had a horrible day, things didn't go well at the hospital and most of my positivity from the physio yesterday was shattered by the consultant and I'm being referred to another one :( Trying to be positive though, so here goes:

    1. Did a Reverbe and found 2p :)
    2. Had free parking near the hospital so saved some pennies
    3. I used vouchers to get a free bottle of milk and some free salad dressing
    4. Saw OH who tried his best to cheer me up and was lovely with DD :)
    5. Friends and family are trying to cheer me up too :)
    6. Bought a lovely tshirt for about £1 in Sainsbugs to treat myself and got DD some beach shoes, thanks for the 25% off :)

I'm sorry I've been too busy with other stuff to post for a day or two. I'm so pleased that things seem to be improving again for most people on here and (((hugs))) to those who are still struggling with bits and pieces. (((Kittikins))) - I've just seen your post. Healing vibes travelling your way right now.

    My five for Friday:

    1. Visiting my parents for supper early evening - lovely meal, the children were absolutely starving after finishing sports training and my mum had the meal ready for when we turned up. So grateful for that.

    2. Strawberries and cream for pudding. :D

    3. Giving my mum an art book (still in it's shrink wrap) that I'd found reduced from £25 to £2 in a discount bookshop. It covered loads of stuff about people she knew, and people she'd been taught by or trained alongside and she was so pleased with it.

    4. Spending some quiet time thinking.

    5. Getting two bags of donations, at long last, dropped off at the Oxfam shop. I've got the space back in the car boot now.

    Sweet dreams

Kittikins - perhaps different consultant can give you better more specialist care and be better long term.

    1. Had a lovely walk with my dog ,warm and no rain.

    2. Collected DS2 from school - he has finished his exams. Realising when I arrived that it was the last day for the upper 6th so it was prank day! Obvious from when I turned into the car park.

    3. HM spag bol for tea and plenty left to freeze for quick teas in future.

    4. Picked some branches and put in vase - looks good with different shades of green and shaped leaves.

    5. Chat with friend on phone.
  • Don't normally find time to post my five, but yesterday's were:

    1. Used no poo shampoo system for the first time and it was very good. I'd thought about doing this for Sooooo long. This could save me a lot of money!

    2. Laundry gloop a success and I am very chuffed about this too. Last year I made a batch of washing up liquid but I was disappointed that it left a residue on the dishes and didn't feel nice either. But laundry gloop works very well and leaves no residue.

    3. Recently I went through all my wardrobe and realised that I have quite enough clothes and shoes to last me a very long time. I am enjoying wearing some that I got out of the habit of wearing. Most enjoyable is wearing my nice modest skirts. I feel very feminine in them. They are quite long too, so I can wear snuggly thermal leggings and even short leg-warmers discreetly underneath and it's very cosy on the coldest of days. My problem was how to stay away from the shopping mall when I have to go there to have my hair cut...

    4. Problem of going to the mall resolved - no more temptation to visit M&S. In the opposite direction to them all, but same distance is a Hairdressers which I hadn't considered before. I went in and checked their prices and they are much cheaper. The library is very close so that's brilliant - and there is a charity shop, if I'm desperate:rotfl:

5.Used my awesome old-fashioned, superb newly gifted Brother sewing machine and made my first garment - a full-length apron . The fabric was free (someone's leftovers) All I have to buy are the apron strings:D. This will be a gift for someone I have in mind.

Many best wishes to all :A

Kittikins: hope you are feeling a bit brighter today :)

Well I've been wide awake since 5.30am & just decided to get up! So pottered about & tidied some things away!

1.Had a nice phone call with my mum. Was going to email (I do everyday) but our internet connection is being temperamental again so thought I'd give her a call instead! Her cats were cuddled up with our dog!

2.Went for brunch & shared it with my husband......because I fancied half his scone!
Did our supermarket shop and were quite reasonable! I can only get so much in Aldi & have to go to either Woolworths or Coles for the rest.

3.Got a new mobile phone! My wee cheapy from UK was locked (9.99 with 10pound credit from asda!) and was using an old one that OH had found but it has no charger! So have been using DD2's last few weeks! Anyway, I am used to a phone that just makes calls & texts! Thought I was doing well having a radio on the one from Asda! Anyway, this new one is all singing ,all dancing, touch screen, apps, etc.....so technophobe me will need to get used to it!.

4.Bought 2 new clothes horses today! Or clothes airers as they are called here! Went through the till cheaper than marked so happy with that! My house is like a laundry trying to get stuff dry!

5.Husband made dinner, tacos & salad and very nice too.....made with reduced mince!

Hope you all have a great weekend whatever you are doing!

Missed yesterday as I was out most of the day and ran out of energy :o

villagelife well done on the survey 'reward'. I love them, they almost pay for all the Christmas presents :D
Broomstick what a super present for your DM the book sounds, and really quite personal to her :)
Kittikins sorry you're feeling down, hope things improve for you now

    1. Had my hair done at the college yesterday, coloured, cut, blow dried for £15 :D
    2. Went to the market and bought fruit and veg for the weekend at much reduced prices as they were just packing up
    3. Went to Matalan and bought 6 (!) yellow tops to take to DM on Tuesday. What she doesn't like I'll return on Weds. She's been looking for a yellow one for ages and for the price I paid for the six she could only buy a couple where she lives
    4. Was really hungry as I'd missed breakfast and lunch so when the smell of onions from the burger van hit me I caved in and got a double cheese burger. It was foul and I had indigestion all evening/night. The pleasure here is I've learned to listen to my head and in future I'll go home for meals, which are cheaper and better for me. I was after all only 20 mins away
    5. Had a manicure this morning, a lovel place and very reasonable cost
    6. Managed to find DM exactly the style of nightie she likes, everywhere seems to do tee shirt style now but there one was cotton one left in the shop, and the right size :D
    7. The card stall at the market now does helium balloons but the one age they didn't have was 90, so the stall holder gave me 3 for 2 very pretty generic birthday ones :D
8 Postie brought me more freebie moisturisers and some eye pods
    9. She also brought me the water bill, they owe me £34 as I've made a concerted effort to be really careful this period, and it's paid off :T
    10. Just making a roast chicken dinner which will last me two nights, so saving a bit on fuel

Have a good evening and rest of the weekend everyone
