  • Got to post some positives, as everything I'm going through a bit of a bad patch lately (nothing seems to be going right and everything is getting on top of me :( - hence not posting much), so here goes:

    1. Finding the black ready to roll fondant icing I've been looking for. I want to have a go at making a novelty cake for my birthday.
    2. After saving up for ages, going shopping to buy a new helmet. There wasn't one that grabbed me in the shop, but the lovely sales assistant mentioned a design she had seen, went to look for it in the previous catalogue and then checked the stock on their computer for the rest of their branches. They have one left. In my size. With £20 off. That made me smile for a bit.
    3. Planning a fakeout night dinner party for when things seem better. Going to do it so that each friend brings a dish they've cooked themselves in the style we choose (Chinese, this time). Then we share it around and cut the cost of a massive meal for 8.
    4. Washing my hair. Hadn't done it for 3 days due to one thing or another and it does feel good to have clean hair again.
    5. Total Wipeout Celeb special on TV. A bit of a diversion.

Sorry to come across as being a negative nelly, but we all have off times in our lives.

    Hi all

I am just back and having so very much to do, sorting out post and bits and pieces that need looking at after more than two weeks absence from home - so please accept my apologies for not sending any individual message today, but a general (((HUG))) for all who need it and a wish that all is well with all others. Will catch up with individual posts in next few days when I have a bit more time.

I just want to post some of the pleasures I have been blessed with during my holiday:

1 - Seeing my family (Aunt and cousin in Rome, and cousin's little boy)

2 - Seeing my mum, brother, his wife and two adorable little children in Sardinia (but after two days we went off for nearly a week on our own to a different part of Sardinia - for some peace!)

3 - Playing with my brother's kids, they are just something else, he is 4 and she is 3 but they are incredibly sharp and funny - DH and I had a fantastic time with them at the seaside, throwing them in the water - they swim like little fishes - and talking with them. My mother told me that they cried when we left because they missed us (ahhhhh!).

4 - The food (we are going on a diet tomorrow, Monday, the perfect diet start day LOL).

5 - The amazing sunshine and seaside

6 - The company of DH, we had a fantastic time together and laughed like we hadn't done for a long time, we really needed a few days on our own after family.

7 - The campsite was fantastic and very reasonably priced - and right on the beach!

8 - Great trip back home, trains in perfect time and even underground and bus made it easy for us to make it door to door (from Aunt's home in Rome to our door) in approximately 20 hours, 12 of which we spent sleeping peacefully on the train. Way to travel!

9 - Seeing my dear children again after all this time

10 - Seeing the cats after all this time, too!

11 - Seeing the veg after all this time, three! LOL - although we still have to go to the allotment, I think we will get a bit of a shock as nobody has been weeding!

12 - Tonight we plan an outing to the Chinese with DD and DS to celebrate our return (then tomorrow diet hehehehe).

    Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Been under a rug all day........

    1. Car is in the garage, busy dying....

    2. Got 4 loads of washing done and dried on the line.:j

    3. Got a lamb shoulder slow roasting in the oven, with cloves of garlic and sprigs of rosemary and cauliflower cheese and squash for supper.:)

    4. DH has just finished stripping the last of the wallpaper off in our bedroom. Once we've got the new lot up, I can start to decorate with the new curtains and bedlinen etc.:T

    5. Our herbs and chillies have grown really well. Will begin to dry some this coming week.:rotfl:

Have a really lovely evening everyone and hugs to those who have problems and sadness, in their lives. :)

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

Well.... I feel very up and down at the moment. I have a grotty week coming up with a trip to the Royal Orthopaedic (Brum branch!) on Thursday, where they will discharge me after 15 years because they can't fix me, followed by court on Friday against the ex where he will be going for more contact including overnight stays with the boys. :-( The upside is that the boys and I are quite well and happy generally. MrN is lovely :-) and can't be faulted but I still have the neurotic thing of thinking "But what if he IS like the ex?" I'm sure I will be thinking that for a long time.

Anyway, I have missed a couple of days here but here are my 5 for today (Sunday).

    1) MrN left at 3am Sunday morning :-) so that can count as a pleasure!

    2) Had a lie in.

    3) Made some flapjacks.

    4) Went out with MrN and several of our sons.

    5) Lit the stove - had it going over a lot of the weekend and its a little bit too warm really but lovely to be cosy.

So excuse my grumpiness this week and hopefully things will be clearer by next weekend.

(((Frith))) you're not at all grumpy, you have a lot on your mind and no-one can expect to be doing the hokey cokey with all you've got going on at the mo :)
Blimus I really only tend to write when I'm in a certain mood - not depressed exactly, more pensive, perhaps. It's not all gloom and doom, some of it's light-hearted, even a little bit silly :o. You say about everyones talents but you home school the children, I think? That's amazing, I wouldn't have the knowledge or be disciplined enough to do so.
Caterina welcome back :j, so pleased you had a good holiday, and were able to spend some time with your DH.
(((kitchenbunny))) you're doing great, if I ever get down the last thing I could do is plan dinner parties or get a bargain when I go shopping. Well done for turning the lemon into lemonade :D
Oh dear parsonswife, can the car be rescued? Does it need major surgery? The lamb supper sounds so good, I wish I lived closer then you could pop a plate round for me ;)
Tealady reading about your brunch muffins are making me drool...why is it everyone talks about food and gives me such good ideas for all the wrong things when I really should lose some weight? :o
CCP the orchard sounds quite a find, well done of getting the blackberries. Congrats on the nsd, as you say they don't come around often so it's nice to note them when they do :D

    my 5
    1. Up at 8am and put a line of washing out in the sunshine
    2. Met up with friends for a shared lunch
    3. Made a pan of tomato and veg sauce and another of pasta, so that's 6 meals in the freezer
    4. Victoria Wood on television this evening
    5. Tackling the mending pile while I watched television. I've now got 4 more items I can wear just for stitching a hem or a button here and there. I am so lazy!:o

Night night, hope you're all dreaming sweet dreams

  • My five for the weekend

    1. We took DS1 to uni on Saturday so not a pleasure but his house does look ok and we met 3 of his flatmates who both seemed nice and it is in the centre of the student area.
I had left him with a few HM dishes in the freezer so he shouldn't starve for a couple of weeks!

    2. Having a meal on way back just DH and me.

    3. DS2 taking on more responsibility at school at a trip over the weekend.

    4. Phonecall from DS1. He is having a good time.

    5. NSD on Sunday.

    6. Chatting with friends whilst picking DS2 up from school after the trip.

    Hi all

Sparrer thank you for welcome back! It is good to be back, no matter how lovely the holiday was.

Here are a few more pleasures:

1 - The absolute delight of sleeping in my own bed.

2 - More time with DS and DD

3 - The incredible piece of luck that today's meeting has been cancelled so I do not need to start work until tomorrow!

4 - Falling back into my gentle life routine

5 - Yoga class this morning, very good.

6 - Nice lunch of veg omelette and salad with DS, DD and DD's BF

7 - 2 lots of washing done, one was the hoiiday laundry (already out on line and nearly dry) the other is the bedding and a few towel

8 - Going to put my new designers guild flowery bedding on the bed!

    My recent five:
    1. Four nice days spent on the south coast - sunshine, sea and pleasant activity.
    2. Catching up with family whilst down there.
    3. Picked the remainder of my outdoor tomatoes. I now have four trays of tomatoes in various stages of ripeness to get through.
    4. Still picking the last of my beans and courgettes.
    5. Just finished a very thick library books. found myself reading more slowly towards the end because I was enjoying it and didn't want it to finish !

Evening peeps. Sorry I didn't post yesterday - I was feeling a bit under the weather all day and didn't feel up to doing much except curling up on the sofa. :(

Primrose and Caterina - I'm glad you both had what sounds like a lovely time. :)

Frith - hugs to you in advance of your horrible week.

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Waking up to find that my headache had finally vanished after being stuck with it all day yesterday.

    2) Doing a new job at work and finding it wasn't quite as difficult and complicated as I had thought it would be.

    3) And we got a free lunch laid on - only sandwiches and crisps, but it's not bad for free. :)

    4) Picking more tomatoes, and a chilli.

    5) My potatoes are starting to die back, which means they should be ready for harvesting very soon.

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
