Hi Guys,
Missed Ya!
Had to give up my computer habit for the last few months, as I have been sooooo busy at work. But now it's the hols and I'm back with the littlle lists of happiness!:D
CCP: Sorry to hear your sad news. Hope you can make the journey tomorrow afternoon. My Mum decided not to tell me about my Nan, and I missed the chance to say goodbye. Something that I will never forgive her for, so well done to your Dad.
Funkey Monkey: Happy Birthday! :bdaycake:
ACEY: We are off to Hampshire next week. Hope to go into London one of the days. Think I will look for the 2 for 1 London Clipper voucher, as that would be something a bit different! Thank goodness for vouchers! Hope my vouchers for our Merlin Cards turn up from Mr T and Mr S, otherwise we won't be going to Legoland!!
5 for today
1. Making a list of OS pleasures.
2. Making ragu sauce in my new 6.5L slow cooker.
3. HM yoghurt and HM granola for breakfast.
4. Changed broadband provider back to Vir9in. Can now get Internet in all rooms and the garden again!:)
5. Cleaned and sorted 2 draws in the kitchen. (One of my aims for the hols is to sort a draw or cupboard a day).
Have been keeping up a mental list every day, but it's so much nicer to see it in written down.
Night! HE xXx0 -

Hi all
Havent posted here for MONTHS , sorry about that but here I am again !
My 5 for today :
Waking up bright and early to a lovely blue sky , got up and enjoyed it instead of going back to sleep and wasting the joy and peace of the early morning.
Harvested some courgettes (a gregular green one and my first round yellow one), took the first chilli off of one of my plants to encourage it to produce more, this year is the irst year I have had any luck with chillis so am ever so excited. Harvested my first french beans (yay) and harvested a few carrots that I planted what seems like an age ago.
A fairly easy work day.
Got lots of washing washed and dried.
Dropping off my teenage daughter who has had a bit of a rough time lately and has become a bit isolated and alone to meet a friend this afternoon and she is still out , such a silly little thing and normal thing to most but its a big thing to me that she is out and about and hopefully having fun !
xx
P.S. Please can I add one more ?!?! When out walking with one of the dogs tonight I spotted a few ripe blackberries. Most of them are still green but there were just 4 ready to eat , 3 for me and 1 for the dog - YUM !0 -
Sorry to hear your news, CCP. I had to do the last visit to my Grandma in February this year and I was really dreading it (in fact, I think I had dreaded it my whole life!) but I am so glad I did go. I went with my dad too (and my sister) and I think it helped going with someone else. I hope you get on OK. Sorry about your arm too - hopefully it'll be a real weight off your mind when you've had that sorted out.
Well, I've got a displeasure to get out of the way first! I took my son to see a cranial osteopath this morning because of his autistic traits/incredibly sensitive head. The man was lovely, very patient (ignored the tears tactfully and managed to treat smaller son sitting up as he refused to lie down!) The fiddling about bit took about 30 minutes. The man said son's chest was absolutely perfect (clear) - which it always has been! He has a lot of tension across his shoulders, though. There was a tiny bit of tension lengthways along his head (can't remember all the technical terms) and a little discrepancy between the right and left sides but really nothing of note.
So far so good.... 15 minutes of the manipulation, smaller son had fits of the giggles. When he's nervous, he sometimes repeats the same word or phrase so he did that. The phrase was rather unfortunate as it was something aimed at his brother... The next 15 minutes he was very calm and didn't say anything (any calmness is unusual).
BUT.... since we got home at 11am, I have NEVER had such terrible behaviour from him. I am nearly crying now. He went to sleep 10 minutes ago :-(
We had 11-12 noon - manic cycling up and down outside the house. 12-1 of icing some cakes I had made (took him 30 seconds!), getting him to make the lunch (tuna and cheese on toast) and getting him to eat some lunch. The manic cycling was so annoying I had to lock the door and hide the keys for that hour. All with non-stop gabbling, arguing, questioning...
Then I went to the village hall car park with him and he cycled continuously from 1-4. I took a book! Older son and next door neighbour's son cycled now and then with him but he just ploughed on and on. He went next door just after 4 and I picked him up at 5 and he had bounced all round their house. :-S
Tea passed in a blur of argueing and manhandling him to the table and getting him back off the bike for his pudding. More cycling after tea.
Just before 7pm I decided we would walk to the pub which is a five mile plus round trip along footpaths. He didn't even pause for breath. Got back at 9 and I thought I would go in the bath first and he was jumping so hard on my bed I could feel the beams shaking under the bath! (He broke my last bed). At 10pm (after a bath, 2 stories and story tape) he was still dancing down into the kitchen claiming to be starving.
Anyway, 5 for today! Although I don't think I have had time to accumulate 5...
1) The osteopath being pleasant.
2) Making some very chocolatey fairy cakes.
3) Tasty lunch - just toast with some tuna and mayo on and some orange pepper that was left with cheese on top.
4) Long walk. On the way up to the pub, coming down the footpath towards us was smaller son's friend from school - on a horse!
5) The cup of tea I've just had without interuption.0 -
huggles to all, wish I had strength to reply.
CCP extra huggles. I detest pink, my 2nd chef bought me a watering can, something i really needed, and as a present and I tried so hard to like it, but its bright pink! I worked so hard to look appreciative!
*im not belittling your situ, just maybe trying distraction techniques which i always fail at
oh btw, im still reading
big hugs to you guys you make my days - when i get time i will do more jex waffle, you know you missed me reallyI will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
Thanks very much for your sympathy everyone - it's much appreciated. My manager has agreed to let me have this afternoon off, even though we're very understaffed at the moment, so her understanding is a pleasure for the day already. Pleasure two was the freshly-baked croissant I had for breakfast - naughty but ever so nice!
I doubt I'll be back with my pleasures today - I'll probably be home very late - so I'll see you all tomorrow.Back after a very long break!0 -

Awww Jexy I LUUUURVE pink (regular Barbie girl that's me! Even used to have my hair pink!) - do you want me to buy the pink watering can off you? Alternatively I can send you a green one and do a swap :rotfl:
Glad that your manager let you have time off, CCP, it is good to know that people care for you (((HUGS))).
Here are my pleasures for the day:
1 - Early morning workout with my osteopath (who also helps me with physical training directed to resolve joint problems) great workout and a lot of laughs!
2 - Visit from my friend, we sat in the garden eating toast with my homemade jam and caught up with life, the universe and everything.
3 - DS asked me to make sure we all have more family times together and I assured him that we will make this a priority.
4 - DD agreed with point 3 above - this is lovely but a bit surprising as I had taken it for granted that they wanted some space from their old parents, now that they are 21, instead they seem to really actively want to spend time with us. I am delighted!
5 - No work today, so I am lounging around in my (very retro looking) housecoat that my aunt gave me when I was last in Rome, and which I think she must have made in the 60s - lovely flowery fabric, soooo vintage!
6 - Anticipating the pleasure of the OS Meet tomorrow!
Have a great day everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Sorry to hear you had such a manic day acey. How old is your son? It sounds as if you were both really disconcerted.
Had a very quiet day today but yesterday was rather exciting ...
1) Jim (the Tree) and his Dad came to cut back our trees. Finally! I've been waiting since last Autumn to get this sorted out. He took down two hawthorns, trimmed two hazels, a birch and another hawthorn and, best of all, hacked six feet off the conifers. There is so much light in the garden now! And if one particular set of neighbours hadn't objected to us trimming our own trees, there would have been more. However, I'm extremely grateful for what I've got and all our other neighbours were pleased too. A total of £245 but well worth it and Jim's Dad has made us the neatest woodpile ever from the offcuts.
2) While this was happening, our Vicar came to see me as we both write fiction for pleasure. I was able to pass on all my creative writing stuff from last year and we had an interesting conversation about the course and finding time to write.
3) Finally caught up with a friend for a coffee. She was 20 minutes late, I thought she must have gone somewhere else and we ended up going around in circles until we met up where we were supposed to be. It would have helped if she hadn't left her phone at home.
4) Bunged loads of swiss chard from the allotment and home grown onion into a pasta sauce to pad it out a little and it was very tasty.
5) As described on the Decluttering thread, spending the afternoon clearing out the landing cupboard. I knew that if I didn't get it closed this year there was no hope... It almost closes. DS was given some golf clubs by his Grandpa, who would very much like him to like golf, and they are in the way but I've done my best.0 -

Evening all,
YIPPEEEEEE!! It's the weekend!!
I have had a fairly good day but not sure if I have 5 pleasures to report...
1) Got an email back from a potential internet date. It's the first one in ages that I have really thought could actually have potential to at least meet.
2) Left the office at 11.30 to go to a meeting in Rugby... and got home at 5pm so my weekend started on time.
3) The meeting was in a pub (yeah I know!) and they bought me lunch... I had a yummy lamb kofta wrap with chips... yum!
4) Almost a NSD... except I got waylaid on the way home by stopping at a plant nursery to use the.. err... facilities... and walked out with 6 new plants. They were cheap though...
5) Had quick snooze when I got home and feelmuch better for it.
I am getting completely munched by something... I am assuming it's mozzies since I don't see any evidence of fleas or bed bugs but it is starting to get me down. Grrr... I covered myself with insect replellant last night but that didn't help.
Oh and a sneaky 6th (I can't believe I got more than 5!!) I won a sewing machine on eBay for £10.50 incl postage. It is an easy sew one but I think it should be ok to learn the basics on.
And two extras for last night. I prepped all the red and black currants (over a 1kg) that I was given some a lovely lady on freecycle. And they are now all in the freezer ready for when I can get a chance to make some more jam/ jelly. And I also blanched and froze the broadbeans from the garden. I am really pleased about this as I have not done that before. Do you take the little jackets off to freeze?
Have a super Saturday
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
