& our farmer neighbour planted broad beans this year so we are surrounded by a sea of rather dry looking plants not our usual lovely, rippling crop.

    Some pleasures for Tuesday,

The hedge sparrows lining up in the edge of the water feature taking turns to have their bath.

Having a good natter with my friend after our P class, the instructor laughed as she left to find us still in the car park.

We have baby tomatoes at last!

Blue cheese and walnut salad for late lunch.

The latest edition of Hotel Inspector, :rotfl: at the proprietor who operated a free bar at her B&B and then wondered why she was losing money, where do they find these people!

Today and yesterday, in no particular order:

    1) First of this year's courgettes for dinner. So sweet, and MUCH better than the bland things the shops sell.
    2) Had a meeting with one of the Director's this morning, who asked to meet in Costa (boo! money!) but I really enjoyed sitting outside in the sun, despite the expense.
    3) Today I have no meetings so I will have a run at lunchtime.
    4) Homemade butter bean chilli for lunch today
    5) Last night we snuggled and watched Mission Impossible 3. Yes, I have terrible taste in movies. LOVED IT.

Oh yes, John the butcher. Mum BoP used to get her goodies from there! Faggots and all Proper Foods. Then there was Shaprs Bakery on Oxford Street. Well worth a cream pie for. Proper foods. And come on, who wants to live near fields of broad beans. Time for the flame gun and be rid of them forever!

5 At the mill, the bean counters have come back from the Cock tavern, off bow street, the place where Samuel Pepys used to meet and count his beans. Well after days of sitting at opposites, our bean count eating one bean at a time while challenging a suppliers counter of has beans, have agreed terms and the mill wheel is turning! Hay is being made and the sun is shining. Yes, if yous read Mr Pepys diary, you will see that French wine and the Cock tavern on Bow Street were frequented quite regulary. And you wander why the mess is still here today!

4 On that, one of the stokers in the boiler room is leaving this week, so we shall do the usual and make sure he never wants to come back. Off to the wobbleade emporium the morrow and see him right. More later

3 On that, biscuits of Jaffa are in short supply today! I have only two in my lunch box, and you should see my lunch box. It is a pittance! How am I to survive on two cakes of Jaffa. Wobbleade chits via paypal are accepted!

2 Talking of that, we had a lorry, not for our mill, blocking entrance to mill this morning. So you could not get pass! Still, two young flirts in there Germanic cars tried to do so, even after I waved them down so lorry could get out. No, both tried to get pass lorry. Both failed, and now have nice scrapes on their side for the privilege of doing so. They are still outside pondering why they tried to get pass while others just went further and turned around so lorry could get out. One wanted me to say I directed her there. No honey, you decided that your intent was better than my wisdom. New 17 plate Audi, black, with crimps on the front. Never mind! I suppose it is on that PCP and now the man from scratch and black is on his way, with the £500 excess to polish out their woes and the insurance, that will take a hit of the 10,000 miles a year and cheap plan. My wheels of steel remain pristine! Still, it is the heels they wear that causes the abrasive attitude, shame the abrasions are on their cars! Good job they don’t park at our mill, as I now have their numbers, so can keep clear. To think I is offs to Skeggies, and Julie, Steels on Bastille day plus one, I could recommend the dodgems and perhaps they would be better suited.

In your haste to be quick, your ignorance causes only harm to yourself
  • 1) A really beautiful day out there, wall to wall blue sky and sunshine and just a light breeze, perfect!

    2) Lunch out at the Mill (real one BOP) where we had a table over the river and were cool and comfy, add in delicious food and it was a real treat.

    3) Found a new (to us) antiques market in what used to be a big old family owned corn chandlery/ agricultural merchants which was full of gorgeousness, we'll definitely go again.

    4) Postcard from the two little grandsons that DD had had made with photos of things we did on her visit last week, smile time!

    5) Cleaned the house from top to bottom, dusted all the skirting boards, architraves etc. 3 machine loads of washing as I changed all the beds too and it's all dry and ready to go back into the airing cupboard, fab!

    6) I don't have to cook tonight as I cooked extra salmon fillets last night for a salad supper tonight and I have lovely fresh fruit for fruit salad for pudding, lovely!

I haven't posted in quite a while but felt the need to count my blessings today, so here goes:

    1. Seeing butterflies in the garden.
    2. Discovering a nice place to buy good quality meat from a local market.
    3. I've lost a pound or two.
    4. It isn't raining.
    5. A magpie landing on the bird bath and looking right at me.
Trying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.

goodness, can't believe last time i visited was 22nd. also can't believe it was posting about the heat. i am now back in less than sunny dundee. heating went on for 30 minutes tonight. brrrrr. exeter was fab but now a distant memory. internet is playing up at home, work is its usual manic self. have skimmed the posts - lobsters, marmite, snorkers, jaffas and marmalade sarnies. food-focussed, so no change there :P

    5) friend's son is through to round 2 of men's doubles. go Jonny O'Mara.

    * Amazing 5 day visit by DD1 and Quoye. Fun every day what with playing with our babygirl and visiting with our oldest daughter. We ate, we drank and we were very merry!

    * Days at the pool. Sunbathing, Quoye playing, double shot margaritas, water guns....Summer!!!!!

    * DH negotiated a fantastic deal for DD1's set of four new tires. They both came home very pleased.

    * One of the best July 4th celebrations ever! Hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill, salsa, guacamole, tostada chips and munch stuff, plus fruit at the height of season, beer and bottled water in the cooler all at the lodge pool with lots of friends. (Plus more margaritas and big glasses of sangria)
The dining room served chicken fried steak dinners that night and the city fireworks started at 8:35pm...dark. They shoot them over the Pecos River. The lodge is on a hill right by the display with the city park right across the river. Crowd estimate was 80,000. (Our population is 32,000) Fireworks went on for 55 min and Quoye got bored. She had on ear protection this year before they started. She said she was a little scared but she was three now so it would be alright. Big girl!

    * Brownies with pecans. This batch was so good!

    * The second room was started today. Wood floors will be in tomorrow completely finished.

Peanut butter on a spoon is a must all across America when one is not in the mood for a complete sandwich. Don't let the BoPalator tell you differently! This stuff is righteous!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

    5 for yesterday,
    1. Better day than the weather forecast. It has been cold and rainy here for the last few days.
    2. Nice chat with Aunt. Made plans to visit her later this month. She has to fit me in with her many pursuits and interests at 83! Steels will be visited for OH to get a proper fish fix.
    3. MOT due Saturday. Service book & wheel nut thingy in glovebox so no searching.
    4. A couple of plants swapped with elderly neighbour. She refused offer of planting.
    5. Journey to work is great with so little traffic. I can leave much later.

Belated 4th of July wishes milasavesmoney.
