5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

-
1. Long conversation with a neighbours young daughter, aged 4, about everything from spaceships to potholes and how roads need to be cleaned to ladders and growing your own veg.
2. Glass of wine with another neighbour when DH arrived home from visiting his mother.
3. Text conversation with my sister. She was coming for a training day locally locally but couldn't pop in.
4. DS2 moved an old desk out of his room and got rid of junk. Some we burnt -old uni papers he doesn't need, some rehomed including loads of paper for the printer and surprisingly some gardening gloves!!! Unused of course. The rest managed to go in the bin easily and it saved a trip to the tip.
5. The house is looking fairly tidy and my birthday flowers are looking good still after I rearranged them and removed the dying ones.
6. Thoughts and prayers are with every one affected by the events in London and Manchester.0 -
Weekend pleasures
1. Reverbed 20p for Chap and I's savings pot
2. Spent a lovely day with Chap on Saturday, mooching around in the sunshine, went to a vintage car show, looked around an ancient church and shared a bowl of chips and had a drink in a beautiful pub garden. A cheap, blissful day out.
3. Chap made an amazing veggie (of course!) cooked brunch for us. It kept us full til late afternoon chippies!
4. Yesterday, had a mummy/daughter day, shame the sun disappeared...but we had a lovely swim, picnic and mooch around a local town.
5. We visited a beautiful church and listened to an amazing pianist warm up for her concert taking place later in the day.
6. My extreme budgeting seems to be going quite well. I only spent on swimming and £4 on lunch stuff to supplement what I'd brought for our picnic. I know it's only the 5th today....but am hopeful that the month will continue in a MS vein!
7. Used Chap's £8 off £40 shop voucher in W***rose to buy my brother's birthday present, a new water bottle so I make sure I drink more in class and some bargains.0 -
Kittikins I reverbed 50 cents on way to podiatrist.
Monday pleasures.
Work.
Paid...and money transferred straight away.
Gardener came. Had a wee chat with him.
Met friend at her local cafe . Her partner joined us for a while before he had to go to work. They paid this time.
Popped into supermarket but didn't spend much.
Home and sat at desk and did paperworky things....sigh!
Had to take DD2 to podiatrist, she has an ingrown toenail ...which he removed half of...without local anaesthetic as she is needle phobic! Thankful that I still have medical insurance till the end of this month! Not something I can afford / justify after that. ( OHs company paid for it)
Chat with sister.
And another week begins. Have a good one0 -
Hope yours is a good week too mhags.
My 5 pleasures for yesterday,
1, After watching the horror of the early news being thankful for our policemen and emergency services.
2, Having an early morning coffee in the garden.
3, Putting in the last of the plants and arranging the pots around the garden.
4, A nice glass of cold wine with my tea.
5, Arranging a lunch next Saturday with dear friend to meet in Glasgow.0 -
And be done with that then
5 What can I say but we could have got cheese on toast from the delivery guy yesterday. I saw him on his motorbike inn town. But that would have blown 60% of the weeks food money and BoPsie would go without!
4 Tea tonight we have the second fish pie, not the captains version, but BoP’s. Tasty and mature now. Will be served up with salad. Proper food again!
3 Back at the mill, weather is a bit wet this morning and all the holidayers are back, so took a tad longer to get inn. Still we have bag loads of cotton to process and turn into cloth. Hard work today, the professor is asking too many questions and not doing as told. Task is simple, but some can make the filling of the smartie tube difficult by getting too many smarties! My Gallic peer has come up the his usual retort. I have the patience of an Englishman, on the other side of the channel I would have swayed my arms! And not forgetting the tax bill to pay next Monday. I should actually charge the taxman for collecting his money!
2 Nite BoP is at the gym in his beach ready gear! Mind you, you won’t want to be on the same beach!
Some days are just the top donkey. Rather surprised I made lunch without Jenny electrocuting someone! Then I wish she could just do a boost charge .. and then watch my fingers!0 -
Wow to your DD2, MHags, having half an ingrowing toenail removed like that, I had it done with anaesthetic (which in itself was more painful than breaking my leg!) and it was still horribly painful. She must have a very high pain threshold, well done to her!!
I hope life without medical insurance won't be too tricky for you as a family.
1. Had a lovely first day back after half term - the kids were well-behaved and excited to be back.
2. NSD - I'd already accounted for a contribution towards a leaving present, one of many....so am not counting it as a spend.
3. DD's netball training was cancelled tonight, the pleasure being that I didn't have to go and stand outside in the rain whilst they all played!
4. Really enjoyed watching the class discover properties of rocks in our science lesson, and was pleased at how much they remembered from our last lesson about 3 weeks ago
5. Friend's first date went well, and she's got another contender lined up for later in the week. Glad to see someone else is enjoying the benefits of a harem, now that I'm off the market
6. Our lovely friends who live near Bath have offered us their fab house for various holidays over the summer, New Year's and Easter next year. Yay!! It's always fab to go down there and chill out. DD and I always wish that it was our own house, as it's the perfect size for us, just a wee bit of a commute to our respective schools!! I'm planning things for us to do already0 -
Pleasures for Monday:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son's history exam went OK. As well as can be expected if you've only done 40 minutes of revision :-/
3) Popped out to get fresh hen food then checked the hens.
4) Went to get smaller son a replacement school tie as the clip ripped off his when he was getting changed after PE.
5) After the exam, bigger son and I spent some time trying to mend 2 old kites I found in the shed, putting on new string etc. Still not quite right.
6) Made various phone calls to the dentist, about getting quotes for replastering etc.0 -
Watching BBC 1. Don't often do so! The female commentator is absolutely disgusting. Avoid.
Not very good for GDSMN Marks Welsh Guards. 8th June 1982. My comrade in arms brother Steve.
Don't pay the TV Tax.0 -
My pleasures for today
1. Got through shortlisting for job.
2. Managed an hour in garden.
3. Fresh coffee.
4. Seeing video of dgs2 taking his first steps.
5. More crocheting done to never ending blanket.0 -
1. Free lunch at work.
2. Managed to finish putting a book case together with help from DS2. Hopefully some of the clutter will have a home.
3. Tea of a ham bake using leftover ham and remains of veg. Tasted good and enough left for the freezer.
4. Tidied a couple of drawers and found £20. Always good.
5. Three shirts arrived in the post which I had mostly paid for in vouchers. Only cost 3.0
