  • Ok, this is the edge. I see there is swooning going on inn the parish! But come on, Strawberries are meant for ice cream (proper food!), not some farcical fizzy pop like drink that is no way a bubbly! Shampoo is Champagne! Anything else is carp!

5 Back at the mill with the bails of cotton. There is fluff everywhere as the project gets to phase too. Good job the kettle is bubbling on the stove, a strong one is needed. Proper drink of tea. Wince of milk and coloured like chain oil. Puts fur where it should be. Cakes of Jaffa are included at elevenses! Good for you.

4 Eventually BoPsie managed to get the Maigret sorted. We watched it. Cannot help thinking that at some stage he is going to walk into a lamppost! Or drive a truck! Was good though. Wobbleades were consumed!

3 Yesterday saw BoP get the curtain rail up inn the bedroom with a near profanity as new neighbour called round. Well controlled language from ladder of steps . Good job I only had the hammer to bash! With too much tax to pay next week, anything more than a penny is too much, BoP will has to weight to get the carpet! Raffles likes the room, he was well comfy in the dust sheets!

2 Proper breakfast this morning. Biscuit of wheat, lashing of milk. Orange concentrate in eua de faucet. Hot buttered toast with raspberry jam was also wolfed down. Tonight BoP is down with his beach ready body in the gym!

    Pleasures for today (Tuesday)

    1) Good to get up after the worst sleep in years!

    2) Good journey to and from Birmingham by train.

    3) Went to the Jewellery Quarter to get my ring resized. It was my 40th birthday present from all the family combined and £140. All I knew (from online research) was that it was made in 1920 and is opals. Felt a bit strange leaving it behind! I asked out of interest how much it is worth and she had a look and said, "Well, I wouldn't be able to give you more than £800 for it" !!! I also took my great grandma's ring and it turns out that was made in 1865!

    4) Went to the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter afterwards and had a guided tour - just we three and a strange man in a mac. Amazingly, sons found this fascinating.

    5) Walked into town which took ages as many of the major roads and footpaths were closed. Went to the Apple shop, for churros in New St and to look at mountain bike shops.

    6) Fish and chips on the way home.

    7) Sitting in bed now, ready for Holby.

A lovely weekend away in the van at a steam rally with no phone reception, we met old friends and relaxed, we stayed under budget spending 20 on engineering bits, and 20 on garden bits.:D

Back home safe and sound, all washing done and hung both on the line and around to dry.

Accounts all done and submitted and payments needed all paid, phew I stress each year.

Looking forward to deep conditioner for the hair and languishing in a bath.:p

Content snoozes of the animals all around.:o

Waiting to hear about a little work tomorrow fingers crossed

Good evening from the land of much chill!
    Heating's on.

    Work...done!
Pharmacy, bakers and then chat with friend from Sydney on the way home.

Then Ive been having a mid day slump , total loss of any oomph or energy. Not sure why?

Hoovered, tidied, hung washing up inside, creating the laundry all over the house look I so love! But it means I can justify the heating being on!

Steak pie in oven. Sprouts ,carrots, broccoli and cauliflower to go. Should be ready in 5 minutes! Made pie yesterday with RTC meat and in slow cooker. Last night I made chicken schnitzels using up breadcrumbs from old bread ...get me!

    Have a good day :)

Morning - not on a train :p though will be later

nice to 'see' you again, Kittikins

    Pleasures for Monday

    1. Good journey to ICT and a walk by the sea on arrival
    2. caught up with friends over a cuppa at steam railway cafe
    3. nephew and new niece in law stopped over last week on their way to their 'mini - moon' and left us some chocolate as a thank you
    4. cycled to the pub and back in the evening. I enjoy cycling in the dark, and it was dark (I did have lights)
    5. couple of pints in the pub - well, it was bank holiday

    and yesterday

    1. Did a 5 mile walk with friends. 'Low level' they said... Didn't tell me it include a 500 foot near vertical ascent  managed it - as i couldn't go back, it would have been quite dangerous to go down it. Rest of the walk was good
    2. Cycled to and from walk, coming back was hard - into the wind and jelly legs
    3. Did some work in the afternoon
    4. Went to the campsite where we spent many holidays (Tynllwyn, Frith) for dinner as another friend was camping there. We fought over the washing up as both of us who used to camp there wanted to do it :rotfl: There's nothing like washing up in the middle of a field....
    5. cycled to and from campsite - this time it was still light, though. overall I have walked about 7 miles and cycled about 20 so far this week...

    Have a good day, all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Now quick flick read while in the control room this morning, I read it as Mhags had a Mud Day! That would be something like running in a puddle! Cannot help thinking of wellies!

For those not used to the weather, May is about out. Like yous nana said. You can leave you coat at home tomorrow. Now for today!

5 First bail of cotton has gone into the giny shed and the fibres are separating. Going to be a long haul and could be sometime before we get to the finished cloth! If you follow the thread that is! First runs are looking good and suddenly a chock upsets the wheel. No hands on deck, just gather around the kettle at eleven instead.

4 And it is spinning here like an old Jenny! No, not :heartpuls, but the Jenny is ready to role! Cannot believe how many iterations we have had. And as mentioned in passim notes round here about Educationalists, Humane Remains and Social Workers . We have Software engineers at the mill. Now we had decent programme us cloth makers could easily understand as it was written in near understandable terms and was easily edited to change the cloth patterns on demand. Now that was easy, so the software types sit in the darkened room, like the mushrooms, and come up with another new language to confuse us all! They call it xml, We call it flock inn L! Avoid. Excuses made to some mad hatters in the parish!

3 Was in my beach ready gear again yesterday on the rack at the gym. I can say the legs are not as good as they should be at the moment, it appears I have carried them too far! But in a couple of tweeks, the excess puppy fat from the apple of big shall be no more!

2 Nite will get another tate walk from the arts of the sky. Very good talk programme and avoids all the carp in the TV Tax channel. For reason to not pay the tax, see BoP notes passim.

The Whale has been all washed up!

    1. Bought fab and v. cheap presents for DD's friends' birthdays, and one for Chap in a shop that was doing second item half price on everything in the shop. Yay :)

    2. DD's father finally paid his pittance of maintenance this month. I was beginning to think he was off the scene, as I've never had it this late, and as I have no means of contacting him.....grrr/sigh/whatever in equal measure! Was starting to get a bit eager for the money, as my tax credits have halved this year, which is making a bit of a difference!

    3. Made a couple of scrumptious recipes from the Bikers veggie book, Chap and I were stuffed full of Thai salad and rice paper rolls, nomnom. Love cooking with him, as we love the same type of food and we like trying new flavour combinations. Also, it really helps that he's 99% veggie, never eats meat when we're together, or at all really :)

    4. Getting started on planning and report writing....this week is going far too fast for my liking! Looking forward to a fun term, filled with days out with my class, sports day, rehearsing for the KS2 production and doing a bit of educating in between all of those things if we're lucky!!

    5. Spending less money as I'm determined to save for a new place for DD and I to live asap. Feeling very positive about it, as I want more independence and she needs to have more sleepovers/friends over in general.

    Pleasures for today (Wednesday)

    1) A lie in!

    2) Bigger son's job is OK! He will be starting on Saturday :-)

    3) Sons supposed to be going to their father's today, until Sunday. He decided he could not be bothered to take smaller son to football (as he was "going out"), nor pick him up from football. He has just picked smaller son up, 9 hours late. :-/ Anyway, smaller son had a lovely day with his friends, had tea with me etc.

    4) While smaller son at football, cracked on with form filling, tidying up, popped to see parents, went for a cup of tea with my school friend etc.

    5) School friend's husband had sorted me out wire and fencing for the allotment - much more than I thought he had! Enough to go over the fruit bushes and round the sweetcorn now.

    6) Nothing to do now except watch the television.

    Thursday
First day of winter. 3 months since OH died.

Work.best day of my working week

    Doing a no sugar month.
Cleaned bathrooms , used a mix of warm vinegar and washing up liquid ( half and half) to clean glass on shower cubicles. Spray, leave on for half hour, rinse.
Made the most delicious lentil soup. Probably my favourite soup.
Made the base for a chicken and veg pie . Had chicken that I needed to use up. Will freeze.
Having leftover steak pie for tea.

    Have a good day
