1 Muscles I didn’t know could hurt, hurt from exercise, and I am hoping my arms seem to be slightly better toned, it was ok when it was slight pain but I can hardly move tonight.

2 Did DF’s things paid his bills and ordered his various shopping bits.

3 Dragged the car through its MOT, phew DH was seriously stressing and he did a lot to maintain it as it’s well moving on in years now but it passed. Yippee.

4 CV uploaded, and a lot of roles applied for, something was bubbling in the background but I think it fell through today, however 2 more opportunities opened in its place.

5 A visit over the bridge for some offers and cheaper fuel.

    Collection:
    1. Watched the London Marathon on TV, bringing back memories of being in RAF Hospital Wegberg for an operation and watching the 1985 race on Forces TV.
One of our ward nurses was a top RAF runner, he was in that year's race and we patients asked him to be in the front row, so that we could see him. Different times back then, he duly was in the front row and we were so excited. I remember talking about the RAF athlete Steve Jones to him - who won the Marathon - and he observed wryly, "I'd be as good as him if I didn't have to work night shifts - he doesn't". Quite possibly true. I wish I could remember his name.

I caught the extraordinary moment in this year's Marathon when Swansea Harrier Matthew Rees stopped his own race to pick fellow runner David Wyeth off the floor and carry him across the line - I knew at the time it would go viral and it did.
More national Welsh pride with cheering on the Swansea club runner Josh Griffiths from Cross Hands (near Llanelli) who was the first Briton home in his first ever marathon. Now he goes to represent Britain in the world champs. Proper Boy's Own comic stuff. Or Alf Tupper, Tough of the Track. :D

(Oooh, I tweeted the follow up story with Matthew Rees and David Wyeth reunited in London this morning and Matthew has just liked it on Twitter. Cool, very cool...! I love the way Twitter lets you link with your heroes.)

    2. My large mock medieval tapestry cushion survived being washed in the machine, using travel wash rather than harsh detergent. When I squeezed the tube of travel wash to get it out it cracked and split in several places, it was that old. I think I bought it about ten years ago!
The contents were fine, but rather than make a huge mess decanting it I simply put the split open tube in the machine. Worked a treat

    3. Didn't have to go out in the cold wind cycling. It was really blowy today.

    4. I had treats in the post to review. A lovely body lotion that is thicker than most hand cream, and a spicy lip balm that is a bit unseasonal but flavourful.

    5. I read a friend in music's new novel and it was a heartwarming, easy and enjoyable read. I was able to give it five stars on Amazon

    6. Your pleasures, thank you.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    2. Managing to fit everything I need in a small cabin case for my trip to Dublin. Ha Ha R!!nair no baggage fees.
3.Nice chat with little boy next door. He has his challenges bless him, but school seems to have helped his speech.
    4. Using up all the fridge contents. I hate waste.

    Morning all.

I am in a different office in London in the hope that it is a more pleasant environment to be in than the other. It already seems so...

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Lunch with bezzie - good to catch up
    2. M&S super green soup - my goodness it WAS green
    3. Cracking on with work
    4. Washing almost dried on the line
    5. Left over roast chicken dinner from Sunday.

Watched Little Boy Blue - can't list it as a pleasure as it was harrowing and a really tough watch. But brilliantly done.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • 5 Again less rabbit and more stew. Holes that were filled in the bedroom were not completely dried last evening. So will sand down tonight. House Chess continues. Still BoPsie has not tested the bath of bubbles! I’ve found my ducks and could be testing this weekend. More later.

4 ANZAC Day. Seems forgotten around here, but the poppy shines brightly in the down under! Have you noticed that these events occur in the autumn, and the cold November rains.

3 Now as you are aware, BoP got the shopping in for little over the cost of delivered cheese on toast. Now tonight, after the beach ready BoP has been to gym, we will be having the non Icelandic fish finger so bought on Sunday. Served with fresh salad. Also BoPsie got some berries of straw and they will be joined with proper ice cream. Tum shall be rubbed.

2 Still at mill paying for the Bathrooms. Good job we are reaping the rewards and moving onto phase two. The mill stone is spinning like a good one. More later. Today we are having a biscuit trade at the mill. Proper biscuits, non of that rich tea stuff around here thank you. Jammy Dodgers. Pink Ladies. Traded for two proper French fancies, imported by a colleague. Tums are being rubbed and cakes of Jaffa are so yesterday! Oranges were also wolfed down and all before elevenses were taken. Unlike yesterday when we had minor lunch box disaster, today BoPsie took charge . She has packed a punch. Snorker roll is included. All is well!

And to think BoP and BoPsie are only days away from the apple of big. Stay tuned. Just had the phone upgraded to be able to be too witty out there. Please take care when viewing photo as jealousy may hit you. You have been forewarned. More later. You will be affected by these posts. Please note BoPsie’s legs have gone to jelly over her trip to apple of big.

Go on then, you deserve it …

    1. The "arctic blast" that the weather man has been harping on about since last week seems to have missed us, was chilly but a lovely sunny morning and no frost

    Good evening everyone :hello:

    mhags - $75 saved?! Wow!

Envious of Glastonbury tickets too. Whilst I'm working full time I'll never get there. Possibly a bucket list thing...

Need to brag about a child in my class. This child has a 1:1 support assistant due to learning difficulties and they're working towards a community award (which they've designed). They invited a volunteer for the local foodbank in to school and on the back of that they're organising a whole school collection. Really proud of the child - and the assistant for giving the child the confidence and tools to do this.

So, on top of that pleasure, here are the rest of mine:

    1) Cake club last night. I made a Violet Cake and it was delicious!

    2) It was my Paperchase birthday last week, so I had a £5 credit on my account. Bought 2 cards and didn't spend any of my own money!

    3) Pay day! Oh yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. :D

    4) Chatted to a friend I haven't spoken to for ages. Meeting up on Monday as a result!

    5) Cat cuddles. To be honest, they're the BEST!

    Night all. x

    Pleasures for yesterday and today.

    Yesterday (Monday)

    1) Bigger son went back to school - a full day.

    2) Smaller son had a teacher training day and chose to go to Ikea (!) so we had lunch there.

    3) First anniversary of bringing our hens home :-)

    4) Bigger son came home from school and had his result for his Chemistry assessment (25% of GCSE mark) - 94%. So that has spurred him on a bit.

    Today

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Got the house tidy.

    3) Bigger son's hand built rat trap caught a rat!

    4) Went geocaching locally and made some egg sandwiches which I ate in the car.

    5) Got a new UV bulb for the turtles' tank.

    6) Went to see my school friend for a cup of tea.

    7) Had a good chat with bigger son.

Frith - just wanted to say double Well Done! to bigger son straight away, adding congratulatory confusion at being successfully rattytrapped:-) (&'s Chinese astrological sign) and 1st bday chez you(ykwim). Will I lay a dbl-yolker to celebrate?

    1. Lazing right now, even to point of redoing hwb moments ago. & never does such. Well, it's bitter today, as experienced when putting out birdie brekkies earlier(Mr T seedy chleb polski, 2p and 1p rtc, along with much else similarly, lovely peas in pod, for example).
Bop, you had your usual go@MrT a few posts back))). n.b. vouchers come out only qtrly Feb, May, Aug, Nov, so not due yet.

    2. re: birdie domestics. & heard sad little single note peeps the other day. Couldn't locate. Eventually made out strange little ?aviary escapee? high in sessile oak. Later spotted another, all white, with deep orange finchy beak, then yet another scurrying from coralux corner, much bigger, partridge-size, but exotically collared above soft milk chocolate body. Have managed scrappy pics of all. Nothing like a research-y quest to whet &etite:-)

    3. Yesterday, ANZAC Day, all ceremonies in Hyde Park and St Paul's. Harry and Andrew's wreaths, presence. Then the 'troop' of Southern Cross Memorial stakes, great bronze 'bones' and anchorages, leaning forward like those mud-struggling (Passchendaele and Gallipoli) soldiers, poor sods; like Maori Battalion and pa warriors and defences; straining forward like sportsmen, rugby and cricket; like effort-laden breaking in on and of land and sea, forestry, farming, fishing....much, much else. A fine haka in homage calling, welcoming all departed souls and spirits 'home', spontaneous Maori choir following. We were numerous, in silences and singing, lingering long, long after. Many pics for &family, also thinking of hometown friends right there right now, Gallipoli itself, simultaneously. Think I will seek to do same, apply early with family validation, for next year's Centenary, WWI.

    4. Londoners and public transport, all helpful, smiling, kind.

    5. No Spits demain, learnt late, as some event set-build+therefore no Brick Lane parking have intervened. Just realised this means bus pass BStE Market Wednesday a possibility. Might:-), taking suitably debadgered hair with me:-) Read entire library book during yday's appt! BIG FEELGOOD RECOMMEND: "The Reader on the 6.27", intricately observed and beautifully written - and trans. from the French, bop:-) Jean-Paul Didierlaurent - also a real belter, usual parable for our times, ESSENTIAL, and with hope and happy ending. Hooray to these!

Almost bedtime again. It's been a day of much weather , mainly of the wet and wild kind. Heating is on. Washing draped everywhere trying to dry it.

Public holiday yesterday for Anzac Day. DD1 and I went to local service. I made Anzac biscuits for the first time which were rather nice.

More paperwork dealt with this afternoon. I shall post tomorrow... 'Tis rather wild for going out!

Made meatballs and spaghetti for tea tonight.

    Dog snuggles.

    Have a lovely day
