Good evening, sun is starting to set. We are having Thai food for tea, first take away in about 6 weeks. Just ordered and DD1 going to walk up for it.

Early start ( waking around 4am just now) call to friend from home. Dog snuggles.

Drove DD2 to work as trains off and replacement buses on which take ages. Nice drive. Lovely autumnal colours.

Nice doggy walk. Chat with neighbour who looked after Haggis when we were at hospital , Haggis always looks to see if they are about when we go past , so he was very happy today.

Communication with my son, he has been hiking through the wilderness of Tasmania with no mobile contact. He thought his flight home was from Hobart in South but turns out it was from Launceston in North. I have been a very generous mummy & paid for flight home from Hobart. It was just too tight a turnaround time for catching a coach to Launceston, a taxi to airport & the expense of taxi home to here. Whereas he was getting picked up at airport here by travelling friends dad. A lesson learned. An extra expense to me but was happy to pay it. I now own him! Looking forward to his travel tales.

Wandered up to a new cupcake cafe that opened recently in our wee town shall probably not need to go again! $4.50 for a cupcake ...when I make nicer ones myself!

Bought 4 primrose plants at hardware store. Planted them in the wooden crate recently vacated by tomato plants. Used my new birthday trowel for the first time!

    Emailed OHs best friend .

Next week I hope to try & incorporate a bit more focus to my day. I feel I just fritter the day away after I've been at work. So shall start writing some ( gentle) lists again .everyone will be back at uni / school so shall try & get back into a kind of swing of things.

Tomorrows number one plan is stinky dog having a bath! Need a son to lift him in!

    Have a lovely weekend :)

    6) Sons phoned a million times and are camping on the coast now (in a campsite called Vaenol opposite the hospital (over the road) from how they explain it, VJsmum). Bigger son is upset as MrN's son5 is being sent away (his best friend for 14 years). MrN's new girlfriend has forgiven his "discrepancy" and will come back but only if son5 leaves... how delightful.

Know it well - our friends stay there sometimes. Not as nice as Rhydy but more accessible for town. What a shame for DS though about his friends. Shame on Mr N for bowing to GF demands...

Not sure when i last posted so apologies for repeats.

    1. back from our holiday. We have had a lovely, if busy time. 2 nights in Prague, one in Kurort Oberwiesenthal, 4 in Dresden and 1 in Colditz  Part of Colditz is a youth hostel and we had a tour of the castle and then spent the night. Great experience.
    2. One bus and six trains home on Thursday after our 'escape' from colditz, which was to walk out of the gate and to catch a bus... :rotfl: The YH was terribly good value - we had dinner bed, breakfast and lunch for three for about £120.. Despite some tight connections, our journey went mostly ok. We missed the last train because Eurostar was 20' late, we saw it go too :( the following train was a bit grim but we were only about half an hour later than we would have been.
    3. Washing up to date (we only carry rucksacks so holiday wash is minimal) and dried on the line.
    4. We went out last night to celebrate the birthdays of OH and two of his chums. We all drank too much so i am a little delicate today. OH was funny walking home in his stupor - telling me i was bossy for making him walk up the hill and to keep going...
    5. DS also came home drunk. OH found him asleep in a pile of vomit on the kitchen floor at 4 o'clock this morning. The pleasure for me is that i slept through all the clearing up....:p
    6. edit: a further pleasure is that I watched Broadchurch in the bath yesterday and had managed to avoid Who dunnit until then...
Trying to get back to normal and do some work - but lack focus...

  • 1) New beech leaves fringing the bottom of the hedges in the village.

    2) The smell of Lilac.

    3) A walk with Cookie down to the river in the sunshine and through the lanes where the primroses are STILL in full bloom.

    4) DD1 has offered me some pairs of cropped trousers that are slightly too big for her now so a summer wardrobe can't be bad.

    5) DD2 has asked us down for a couple of days this coming week and we'll babysit that Zebra while his mum and dad go to mums best friends birthday celebration, lovely.
  • 5 Gimps are promoted. No more will be said. PM2DD Mum BoP was distraught in 1957 when old man BoP said they had to catch train back to Grimsby, when the score was 1-1. Grimsby won 4-1 and she missed it. She never forgave him.

4 New bathroom mirror up. Bit of plastering dome. Looks good.

3 Inn town last night. Had large gorilla instead of curry. Proper mixed grill. Wobbleades were consumed. Went to catch big Warster train, and it was running late. Fortunately the previous train was also late, so we left early. Watched Mythbusters search.

2 Just got proper brunch inn with strawberries. They are now cooling with the vanilla ice cream. Tum is being rubbed.

It could go the other way ...

Vjsmum sounds like a lovely time was had.

1 Spent the whole day in the garden, tidying what’s lovingly called the patio up, using the garden table to re plant hanging things with various bits while recovering the bulbs

2 DH replaced the garden PIR light, we bought one on seconds from Amazon for a fraction of the price it’s not great but it was also very cheap.

3 Leftover wraps were lunch, and hm lasagne with sprouts and cawli will be tea.

4 I just popped out to get the lidl offer which was perfect, and checked in Mr T for RTCs but empty handed this time.

5 I weighed in again, another hlf stone is gone, but the next stone is being very very stubborn, it’s getting hard but I’ve not given in I am feeling better for it the confidence is great. All sorts of diet changes and a bit more active so I’m hoping one more month and it will be gone.

6 Another washing load dried by the weather.

7 Clean bedding on for us and other bedding washed and hung out.

I once paid for Dr C. to fly home from Tenerife when he had misread the time of his flight, Mhags. Every sympathy. A dear online friend lives at Launceston, it's quite some distance from Hobart, I know.

Sad to hear of the loss of little Minstrel PK. Your furries have a life that must be near idyllic for them. Lots of top quality YS food, the run of the place and lots of love.

Kitchen floors are usually easily cleaned. One bonus, VJsmum... glad you escaped the cleaning.

1, Decent quality of sleep, albeit in snatches, after not feeling 100%. 9.30 p.m to 1 am and then 4 am to 8.30 am . In the interim I read and did some surveys.

    2. Two good books to read. One, on Alzheimer's, will be of interest to a friend whose mother has the condition. I don't read a lot of fiction.

    3. Crispy bacon rolls for brunch. Oh, the bliss...Bacon from Heron Foods so very MSE.

    4. Enjoying decluttering my bathroom by using up more and more items. Some of my woolly jumpers are beautifully soft after a wash in unwanted Pantene.

    5. Your pleasures, thank you.

    7) Cleaned all the downstairs including steaming the floors.

    3. curry leftovers from the freezer for tea
    4. got back into some work - eventually
    5. skype call with my girl - she is into her last term and is v. busy but seems happy.

Have a good day - I will spend the next 20 mins pressing refresh...:rotfl:

EDIT: I got one :T But DS didn't :( Be careful what you wish for, eh? I feel awful about it. Friends could get me one, and then about 6 of us trying for DS but no luck. He seems ok about it. He wasn't 100% certain he wanted to go anyway. he is a bit quiet, but that might be the after effects of his hangover...:p

Sun setting on Sunday, it's been a pleasantly warm afternoon, I was overheating in my thin jumper!

Made DD2 a very pretty breakfast and then drove her to work. Had a quick hello with the 71 year old lady who cleans the estate agency next door to where I used to work. We used to always have an early morning chat, so it was nice to see her.

Home and straight out in the garden. Have put out garden table and chairs on grass verge , free to a new home . We don't really use them and they just attract spiders. If we do need to entertain in the garden I have an extending table in the shed that can be pulled out. Also put some pots out , I've had so many floral displays in more pots than I would ever need .

Brought small table and 2 chairs and one bloody red back spider from front porch around to back porch. Bit of a scream and then a stamp!

It seems someone has taken the chairs but not the table! Which whilst I'm giving it away for free I think it would have been better going away as a set! Anyway, maybe someone needs a table! They took some pots too.

Some more paperwork re OH completed and posted off, walked my dog to the post office.

Then Mr Smelly Dog had a bath. He does not like having a bath but really needed one! So he's now sweetly smelling and soft like a puppy!

Tea is a cottage pie taken from the freezer and cauliflower, broccoli and carrots to go with.

    Have a lovely day
