5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

My old style pleasures for the past few days.
1. Got my work out groove on and have finally got back into regular exercise minus the gym! I have been doing Jillian Michaels DVDs that I used to do quite regularly. Now back into the swing of it and feel great! They are hard though. No gym fees.
2. Hairy bikers chicken tikka masala already prepped for dinner tonight. Just have to grill the chicken.
3. Beautiful weather.
4. Sod getting a new kitchen, the old one works just as well even though it is 30 years old. I mean who am I trying to impress myself or visitors? Might try paying off my mortgage instead. You never know I might even start a diary on mortgage free wanna be!
5. Coffee and a couple of biscuits before I get back to work.
Enjoy the rest of your day.0 -
Morning all. Having a break from house cleaning. It's been a while since it was properly done:o
Pleasures for yesterday.
1. Went to London so did a total of 4 x 20 minute walks (so about 4 miles). The weather was brisk but sunny
2. Ate good, healthy homemade food. Breakfast jollop in the train, that I'd taken in a jar, salad for lunch and homemade lasagne (veg layers instead of pasta) for dinner
3. Went to work in a new office at the uni, everyone is much friendlier
4. Good helpful meeting with supervisors
5. Relaxed with a bit of telly in the evening
Not s pleasure, but the speech of the husband of the murdered Parisan policeman was beautiful and dignified....
Ok, washing done so must hang it out and get on with cleaning. Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
& We will not be retiring on our T vouchers!
5 Well as you are aware that BoP drives without conviction. This very morning on the way to the mill, earning pennies to pay for the bathrooms, BoP was fortunate to see a car of Germanic extraction on its side outside the Crosshands. Sporting type, on its roof.
Artistic Impression 6 (Would had been more, but road is straight and it was on the other side of the road.)
Degree of difficulty 3 (Again straight road)
Technical Ability 1
Unfortunately, occupants were walking next to the car, corresponding with the local Gendarmerie. No other vehicle was involved, it was a one-way crossing! It did not stop BoP from getting on his way.
4 Our French colleague bought after his recent sojourn in the French countryside proper French Fancies. Obviously, with BoP not being a greedy fury beast, took one home for BoPsie. She remarked that it was not like a Mr Kipling fancy. I told my colleague this and managed to diffuse what could be a diplomatic incident. We blamed it on the sugar in the fancy and Brexit. Please be careful when taking any fancies!
So please be careful out there folks, we don’t want any more incidents this week! On that, let’s move along.
3 Checked the plaster in the bedroom. Bull hooks! Looks like hammer has to come out this evening to get it sore ted. Did not go right. Raffles is in the room as well, checking on the decoration. At least the ceiling is done. At the moment it is a bit of a run to get into the shower, but will be looking good in a couple of weeks. As we are heading to the apple of big in next to no time, the carpet and bed will have to wait a couple more weeks. More later.
2 And on that, I’ll just go home again from the mill with a sack load of oats, knowing that I will have a decent crumpet with butter and marmite with a cup of proper cocoa this evening and not touch a foam drink at all. Mind you, last week inn town I made the mistake of having a wobbleade that tasted like washing up liquid. Please avoid the artisan foods. Crumpets do not have seeds on them! Now on that, this morning at elevenses, BoP had his cakes of Jaffa and peeled oranges. In the refrigerator at the mill, in the ice room, someone has put some punter food in to the thing. A packet of some emporium, obviously ripped off, peeled orange in protective atmosphere. Please avoid. Just like I said about the cheese on toast delivery system I mentioned the other day! As I say in palace of BoP. If you want a la carte, the restaurant is over the road. Just like the car of Germanic extraction was this very morning! Might go home that way to see if they have scrapped it!
Right now for lunch and we are talking box!0 -
It is raining, and the ground smells fresh and clean. And I don't have to go to work today!
Beans on toast for breakfast, used up leftover beans ( I throw away so many half opened tins, I am making a real effort to not do this anymore)
my beans/cucumber/tomatoes and flowers are rowing nicely.
Trying to de clutter. I have so many things. I am a shopaholic. I waste so much money its frightening. But I am making a conscious effort to start saving. I have paid off one debt completely(took me a year!!!!) and have put money into 2 separate savings accounts.
Usually I give a lot of things away, but I am going to ebay this time and try and make some money to go towards holiday fund.
Have a hot cuppa and a digestive biscuit with cheddar cheese on. The cat is layed on my feet and the house feels cosy.
I saw a heron right up close a few days ago, I was able to stand and watch it for a while, also the squirrels darting around. I can sit for ages watching the wildlife.
Garden birds have all been fed our scraps and I have a birdhouse on the back wall, hoping to see it being used.0 -
1) Arriving at DD2s yesterday to the Zebra child with his little nose pressed (literally) against the lounge window jumping up and down and screaming Oma as we got out of the car and the hug that I got as we went in will warm 1,000 cold days better than the sun!
2) Being guided around the zoo yesterday and being guided by a 3 year old expert who's been so often he knows where everything lives, brill!
3) Good runs there and back on the motorways, light traffic and no holdups.
4) Orley.....just that, he's a first class poppet with a smile that encompasses his whole little being, I love them both so much.
5) Dear Son in Law, along with DD who look after each other and their children in a quietly loving and supportive way, good people who don't have to ask each other to do things, things just get done, love them both so much too!0 -
Hello been a lurker for a while - was registered but lost my email address so had to rejoin.... anyway. Recently through some bad times my 5 OS pleasures in the last few days:
1. Unexpected telephone call from a friend
2. Gardening- a neglected garden getting a hack back, wash and brush up
3. Jigsaw from my stash
4. Cross stitch from my stash
5. Curling up on the sofa either listening to the radio or with a good book from the library. The game's afoot....0 -
Greetings all!
Apologies for hurtling in & out, but RL being ridiculous. Or at least busy.
OS Pleasures recently
Son lured out of bed by offer of sausage sandwich. Desperate times, desperate measures. (I have sourced Reeces Pieces & now have a concealed stash to reward virtue. Come on, Virtue!)
The news is full of Prince Harry, and yet I don't feel like defenestrating the device as 24hour news so often makes me yearn to. Somehow I'm left feeling a bit ashamed of myself for not realising no one had already made time to listen to him. [Oh my pronouns!] And eyeing William thoughtfully - has he had any help, alongside preparation for The Duty? [Seemingly enough - good.]
Husband, processing beeswax, has ended up with "something that looks like jam made by H.R.Geiger" (the dead bees are black, curved, shiny - worryingly very like something out of Alien.)
Husband began sorting wool before it overpowered his antihistamines. Silver, caramel brown & thick black wool in great heaps! You can almost sense the relieved sheep capering happily in another field. You may hear me turn the air blue trying to spin. It is not a strong point of mine.
Colleague mentioned shipworm - manager & I united in curiosity & bless her, she giggled first as we both thought "that looks somewhat familiar" <quite safe unless you have a filthy mind>. Male colleague had to reopen page to show other others summoned by manager.
Heard of Marilyn Munroe, "marriage wasn't the right institution for her". Left me pondering what would have been, & was it in any way legal or available to her? Pleasure in the gurgles considering her as a co-wife... Mind, son's expression pensive over sharing her with several other chaps quite as funny!
I love my scouts! From the wide eyed "it wasn't me!" (who hit the ball right over the scout hut) to the 'ah-ha!' as the Clove Hitch makes sense - loads of fun. Come volunteer - it's fun for the leaders too!
HM's birthday & one of my favourite cherry trees is in full blossom, reckless generous glorious bubbles some clustered some hung like droplets on the end of branches.
As the Ordsall Chord (chunk of train line in Manchester) is worked on, us pedestrians are rerouted & the hi viz horde have not only been very sweet in person but even put up diversion signs for us pedestrians!
Got another sistema lidded soup mug (in the same colour as I already have) in a charity shop but extra mugs are always useful as well as Good Cause.
Went to a modern embroidery exhibition - inspiring & impressive! Hauled two sons back in & one fumed while one observed new art form curiously.
"Ah hah! Lots of weird !!!! here!" - m'husband is intrigued by hunting for rabbit glue & finding a lot of other fun things in just one drawer. (The very idea of downsizing gives me the creeps as I've no idea what he's looking at.)
There's something very connecting about ironing Scout kit & polishing boots the night before the Saint George's Day parade. I can feel the Scout family doing this, around my valley & across time!
Gurgling gently at the music to which the flags are paraded into church - the Raiders of the Lost Ark there, followed by the Star Wars Imperial March. Has me muffling giggles every year.
Earth Day, the lyrid meteor shower (for those without cloud, ahem) & several corking charity shop & market stall finds. Including a traditional glue pot, that has himself delighted three times over - a previous one was rusted through, this has cleaned up near mint & thanks to Weird Al, he's just twigged he has Yoda's cook pot... Delighted, he is!
Sons grousing over the groaning noise from the plumbing - "it's learning...."
Cold but sunny day off so in slouchabout garb, making vegetable soup. Everything chopped, weighed, calculated, but it's filling & I'm loosing weight. The Zipline beckons as does a trial side saddle lesson. (Dream of clearing a five bar gate sidesaddle no longer a total wild eyed fantasy but as saddles are fragile, you may not be carrying extra avoirdupois.) I may yet join BoP in a tutu, just to get into a habit! Hair net & veil even...
Eavesdropping on Himself watching Weird Al on YouTube - some is hilarious, and some decidedly weird. Sez the aficionado of Tom Lehrer, who led the way, just with fewer videos.
Got a Sean of the Dead T shirt for youngest - he's delighted, which is a good start before Parents Evening. Which carried right on being excellent - if he does the work, we'll be very happy with the results, but Celebratory Kebab ordered & devoured. (The kebab house staff share my enthusiasm for good school reports!)
Love, hugs, health, strength, appropriate garb for the weather variable tho it be, and general gladness to all who wish.0 -
Quick pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Could not persuade bigger son to go to school but he did end up doing 3 hours of unexpected algebra. He didn't know any.... :-/ but he does now!
3) Went to swap their bank accounts around to get the best interest rates - what a palaver.
4) Weeded the raised bed - it's dry as a bone.
5) Dad came for a chat whilst waiting for Gardening Club to start in the village hall.
6) Watched another episode of Mutiny with bigger son.0 -
Late afternoon here, still light for another hour or so.
Work. I do enjoy a Thursday.( it's my busiest day)
Slightly more productive today than last few. Hoovered again ( blooming hairy dog) , washed floors, made chilli in slow cooker.
Little bit of gardening ,everything is rather soggy but wanted to finish filling the garden bin for collection tomorrow .
All my bits and pieces I left out on grass verge have been taken. Hope someone else enjoys them.
Had heating on as rather chilly and needed washing dried but it gets quite stuffy so was nice to get some fresh air and posted some letters...including 3 pound coins I found to my great niece. Before they become obsolete .
My son giving me a hug just when I needed one this morning, was rather upset over a rather silly thing....and whilst he agreed it was silly he still hugged me!
A lovely message from the friend who received Her parcel. She's delighted and I've decluttered ...win win!
DD2 wearing a tie for the first time ever! Winter uniform has started and she has to wear a year 12 tie. It seems someone tied it for her and all she had to do was slip it on! ( we think her sister!)
My tawny frogmouth is in my tree! Yay! It usually sat in the branches of next doors tree ( cut down) which overhung in to our garden.
Watched 2 beautiful lorikeets when I went a walk up to post office. They are such pretty birds.
Have a lovely day x0 -
5 Off to Dentist this morning. Usual rules. It will hurt him more than it hurts me. Not a pleasure!
4 Tax bill has arrived. Not a pleasure.
Please pm all spare wobbleade chits to BoP. You knows them old fivers are of no use come 5th May. I can dispose of them for you!0
