  • 1) A walk new to me this morning with my friend Sue and the discovery of an old mill that is like Aladins cave inside with antiques and crafts and second hand things all rubbing shoulders together quite happily and a really quirky little Vegan Restaurant/Tea Room serving delicious healthy food and very good coffee.

    2) Lovely walk in the sun under blue skies with Sue Charlie and Cookie this afternoon, met several new to us dogs also out walking and friendships were forged of a canine type.

    3) Waiting for a call from Maisies mum so I can go walking with thgem and then bring Maisie back here for the rest of the day until someone from the family gets home this evening and rings when He Who Knows will walk her back.

    4) Very organised between walks and managed to get soup made, gammon cooked and a casserole in the oven on slow cook before I went for Cookie, just a cake to make while Maisie is here but she likes to sit with me in the kitchen whilst I'm working so that will be fine.

    5) Discovered a pair of lined Craghopper trousers passed on to me by DD1 when she lost weight a while ago hanging in the wardrobe and wore them for the walk this morning, what a revelation, so cosy and much appreciated walking along the river on a disused railway track in the country. Will definitely be investing in a couple more pairs in the very near future.

Didn't bother to write yesterday as we were all (50+ staff) hauled in to an after school meeting. Appallingly badly handed. 40+ staff had to watch as the head teacher decimated the teaching assistant staff. 4 of us (half!) have to go. Can't say how, when, whether we can take voluntary redundancy, whether we will be made redundant at all or put on a stupid contract of variable hours, like Sports Direct...

Obviously, I couldn't pay my mortgage on fewer hours than I do now. I only earn £700 per month. I felt embarrassed for the teachers who had to sit there while we all got upset (no, we didn't see it coming). They were then told to go to the staff room for another meeting but about 20 stayed and tried to stand up for us. But boss had an answer for everything...

    Anyway!!

    Pleasures for today (Tuesday).

    1) Everyone very nice to us at work.

    2) Found a bit of a job, though it's a long shot. It is at a local National Trust property, no set hours (sigh) and only temporary but will apply and see if I could fit it in around my existing job, for extra money and to get some much needed getting up to date with my former heritage career... Have just got all the info together so I can complete the application form.

    3) Went to see my school friend after work.

    4) Bigger son cheerful today, but ill with high temperature, so had a day off school.

    5) Healthy eating is paying off. Now 12 stones 12, 8lbs lost this year. Just less than half a lb a day!

    6) Looking forward to Holby later.

    7) Oh yes, cooker was written off yesterday but the nice man who came out to try and fix it. "Beyond economical repair". So bye bye to my 40 year old cooker that (until this week) never gave me a single problem. :-( I am bidding on a new one on Ebay, £35 at the moment.

Ampersand - rhubarb coming up here too!

MHags - hope MrMHags is comfortable and good that he is in the up to speed hospital.
  • Frith, sorry to hear about the job insecurities, however good on you for applying.

It never rains..I went outside to try my car to find that it’s flat. So I dig out DH’s charger and start charging, then I remember last I drove it, it has a smokers film on the window from the previous owner, I worked and worked at it today it’s been washed 3 times today, but it’s still there.

The reason I thought I will check things is because DH is now very poorly, it’s reaching hospital point, so when I found the car dead and with no visibility I questioned our girl guide always ready abilities, realising how easy it is to get un organised.

    1. The animals are being very sweet and playful.:o
    2. Going through my mind creating a hospital bag for dh, and went off and created one.
    3. Checked oil, washer and tyre pressures.
    4. Realised I am very hungry so cooked a sausage and egg sandwich, with the worst sausages I have ever tasted I swear they were not fit for human consumption.
    5. Can’t find a no 5 at the mo, too worried so banking it.

Joining the upmammaries recounting of days here, with anti-woe hugs and balsams and starred osp references to all employers in wings. Regret wands MIA atm, and/or broken.

    1. Meriva last seen on fenboys tow truck in fading light. Sthg transponder/immobiliser? Took pic to attach to msg to spits patron who has been so forebearing and sympathetic, yet again. Yes Frith, & needs to earn too. Will anyone remember the ACTUAL non "post-truthed"why's? come election time? Now beginning to think "not in & lifetime".

    2. Well, if the above can read as a pleasure, better smile:-)))....and & deffo did so for mhags and Mr mhags.

    3. Scotsdales lunch old uni friend rtnd home to kaput dishwasher which had killed all house power. She found poss. fixits on YouTube and was hoping for joys. Another parallel day between us, while & attempted car fix with new key fob rebuild, over and over and over and over again, all to no avail....note the circular nature of this wearisome post. No jumpstart helper around and & about to rtn for more Haynes+handbook reading, trying, vxhl foruming when young woman greeted &. X. !!!! :-)))))), moved back after quite some years. & helped move away to republic, which didn't work. 3 children now, met and re-met by &:-) What a bonus to have her back! Horsebox+Audi+husband+friend then helped & in attempts to do anything with Meriva. & even connected fenboys and lovely husband on phone to carspeak intelligently together. When fenboy arrived, he recognised horsebox:-), so more circulars and chat between parties. Isn't world tiny? but &still immobile, pending 10 bells call today. Cross those fingers &.

    5. 'Eventually', as that's how yday felt all day, went to make shortbread thank you for rtnd neighbour, but no sugar left! What? & NEVER runs out of things... Oh,hold on. Lots of bergamot marmalade made and no shopping since. So, coat, glubs, torch, walking. Village shop. Price ok, thanks to current owner's wise philosophy. Scotsdales 20p clarion angel cookie cutter successfully test-driven:-). Another dark walk avec shortbreads+better than decent ros!+a fitting grown up ladybird book as merci and welcome back.

Dd - you know by now the slow way's the surer way. For several years, during &'s Mse life, had hellish intermittent knee prob./pain. It's not sthg to shortcut on in recovery.

2017 seems symbolically laden already. Things.....can on-ly get better?

Happier days, workplaces, job successes, hunts, hearts, markings, postie news - and any other omitted.

Bedtime for me. Slept badly last night...overnight heat being a big factor...thankfully I had missed most of days 38o heat but my bedroom hadn't . Much more cool tonight.

Early o'clock rise. Funny how just a few months ago that was my norm. Quick chat to sister.

Train and tram to hospital . Charming 4 year old girl sitting opposite me in train. I read all the way there.

Poorly husband when I got there but improved as day went on.

Very good chats with our lovely Palliative Pain doctor and Social Worker. A few snots and tears but some laughs as well.

Finished book. Shall borrow another one tomorrow.

Friend picked me up. Good blether with her.

Son went out for fish & chips for tea, so I had a chip butty.

    Have a good day

. Frith hopefully you hear about what's happening soon so you know one way or t'other.
DD do not do too much!
PK hope your OH is treated soon and feels better.
  • And I remember. Humane Remains, Social Workers and educationalists. All on BoP's list of wastes. And frith does not have to say so why.

    Emergency :heartpuls to down under.

5 Minds me of team at mill. Turning the wheel while no Horlicks is available. We are there to provide the solutions. Something the headmaster cannot. Enuff said. Hence why I see this one seeing me out! Less talk of the mill.

4 Bin on the tread mill. More pink tutu than you can throw a cat at. Six packed and ready.

3 Raided penny jar to pay for holiday. More later.

2 Night sat with proper cocoa and hot buttered crumpet and marmite. Rubs tum!

Now next time put them inn a room and lock the door!

    PK - how's your OH?

2 poorlies here, one very poorly who fell over whilst going to the toilet and has not eaten for 2 days. Both in bed and 1 (possibly both) asleep already.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Everyone being suitably sarcastic at work.

    2) More overtime (I now work 8 lunchtimes out of 10)

    3) Took smaller son (before he became really ill) to choose a new cooker. Curry's sale and a bigger overdraft for me. A very basic model but at least it will get hot.

    4) Eden Project emailed to confirm our booking in August, plus 2 nights in their YHA. :-D

    5) In bed with 1hwb, sleeping smaller son (who won't go in his own bedroom due to his brother's germs - though he has them already!) and will listen to something on the radio.

Oooo yes, and 6) applied for a National Trust tiny job today...

    Evening all

Frith, I'm keeping everything crossed for you about the job.
    Ditto & for your vehicle.
(((((Big hugs))))) to the Mhagses and to PK and your DH.
And a big get well to you, DD, too.
And more positive vibes to anyone else in need...
BoP, I want to know how you can manage to survive on a diet which includes buttered crumpets and cocoa as a snack, and have a six pack and still get into that tutu.

    Five pleasures for Wednesday:

    1. Slept in a bit this morning.

    2. Washed the cotton 'tablecloth' on my table/desk and the ink stains didn't come out so I've decided to re-purpose it as a curtain for the bathroom shelves (with the inky bit avoided). I got distracted by looking at oilcloth replacements online which was pointless because I'm avoiding spending on all unnecessary stuff which this would be. Then I remembered I have a load of fleece blankets in the right colour and the right size so I put one over the table - success.

    3. Another NSD.

    4. Spent much of the day culling paperwork again. I'm starting to see spaces where there weren't spaces in in a couple of rooms which is cheering up. This is going to be a long job though.

    5. Mushroom burger, carrots, broccoli and a spud for supper with kiwi and yoghurt for pud. Very good.

    Sweet dreams
    Bx
