1) In all this wind and rain I looked out of my kitchen window this morning and there is a single pretty pink flower open on my neighbours clematis which normally blooms early in springtime.
2) Just made us a chickpea and sweet potato curry for lunch to warm us up on such a nasty day, it was lovely!
3) Going to the cinema this evening with my Sister in Law to see The Man From Uncle, then supper afterwards.
4) Athletics on the TV and the Brits are doing well.
5) Having the MSE community to chat with on days like this when going out is uncomfortable, thanks guys!0 -
1. I’ve not been able to post, DH had to order bits in to fix the laptop which he sorted yeay.
2. Worked at home today.
3. Left glut of pears simmering down and made them into 4 crumbles.
4. Cleaned the inside of the van and started loading it with food and bathroom bits.
5. Leftovers omelette for dinner0 -
News. Live near the nest. Feathers are ruffled. Raffles has been out and the bird populace has been reduced by one or two confirmed.
Inn the Bridge. Wobbleade is pored. That is what is left of BoP's resilience. Mediocre obscurity inn mid table. Drowned. Only hope is that next season is better.
And back with BoPsie.0 -
1st up - & sees all her Thanks again wiped out.
2nd up - fed up with nyah-nyah &utah ce soir. Weirder than weirds happening, never before seen, or heard. Sudden noises from phone, but voices from screen. No rings, but it's NZ no. &'s been trying to get since last week. Money matters. Their ems to & bounced back. &'s subs to them unrecognised. $NZ sitting somewhere in nomansland. On and on and on and on....She: 'sorry, can you repeat that?' & 'you're cutting out, I didn't hear you after xyz....beep-beep-beep, all gone. That's that then.
Roll on the 20th century. Great advances and scientific miracles are in store.
3rd up - &utah says 'well it seems we've crashed...sorry about this...blahbah...submit a report to help us help you'. So & tries. Msg reads; 'Sorry, your report could not be submitted because your system has crashed....'
Don't bother.
And & still needs to speak to 2 enzed peeps urgently. France? Forget it - conks out with only 3 or 4 digits struck.

That Rant Was Brought To You By &, exceptionally UnLtd.

Well done Raffles, I'm in a bit of a That Mood moi-même. As we speak, all sorts of radio interference sounds bleeping background sotto voce from screen.
Trying for 5.
1. May be onto a mower fixit demain. One venerable aladdin's cave, Mackay's, regrettably unable to help, suggested H.Gee Electrical. & phoned. Eventually answered, with slow grace. Even more gloriously Mackays than Mackays. I look forward to this, after much knowledgable consideration: 'Bring it in and we'll see what we can do.' Lovely dickensian tone and diction.
2. Still wading around here. Non-stop all day. And dark. And cold. And windy.
And just had a good moan about that right here.
3. nsd, almost added npd, but found neighbour had left another thing for & to specialist pack and post and had something to send myself, but didn't. Way over £12 - don't be silly.
4. & doesn't book of face but in desperation...then seen about an hour ago by other ancient enzed schoolfriend and something may connect.
5. Early evening whim indulged. H-m apricot shortcake and icy cold milk, then more milk with something even naughtier, not even h-m. Sod it. Not the prize parliamentary chocs..........yet.......although, am I letting that bad thought breed?

frith alert - Y C is unequivocally my 1st preference. At last I have one:-)
Brilliant Monday pitstop mtg. She's a stunner, in all ways - press pics/coverage/et al don't do her any sort of justice. Button-bright, uplifting, warm, open, vivacious, intelligent, empathetic, truly alive with capable energy[big contrast with AB, despite heavier engagement diary]...in she came, late[accident hold-up en route from Stevenage]...very attractive, she just sparkled from the off. An attentive, thoughtful listener - went down super well in a massively overflowing hall, with people trying to listen from outside on path. Many questioners were antagonistic initially, but YC more than met them - and they said so. She made me feel hopeful. Also met marvellous 94yr old, another academic, Labour's 1st female councillor something post-war. She is a lifelong atheist, but son 6 yrs ago[after GP, then social work career] astounded himself and his maman, became a vicar. Parish with deprived drug zone estate and extreme retired wealth cheek by jowl... She asked YC the toughest ?
Delighted to have spent time and talk with her.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Just popping in... well we know now that Fatty the racehorse isn't a sprinter!
He is used to warming up gently on the gallops and didn't race until the last furlong of his 7f race... then the jockey had a job pulling him up. He ran no sort of race so it's taken nothing out of him. He goes again over a much longer distance in 2 weeks. On the plus side, after being a bit mulish going in to the stalls, he got out of them nicely, so he has learned something!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Ooh I've just had my dinner and I'm stuffed : steak pie ( slow cooked rtc meat), roast potatoes, roast rtc parsnips, carrot and turnip mash, broccoli and cauliflower. Delicious!
I've had 3 lovely relaxing days off work ( back to walk tomorrow , sigh!)
Not done very much ,not traveled too far from home and generally been in a very relaxed state!
House is tidier, ironing is up to date, Uk telly watching is all up to date.
Home cooked dinners have been made and enjoyed by all.
Correspondence has been caught up on.
Some Christmas gifts have been ordered for UK peoples , the exchange rate is shocking just now so shall do a little bit each month from now on.
Good chats with friend back home.
It has lashed with rain all day in various degrees of heaviness! but it turns out its been a drier August than normal so the rain is much needed for the gardens and reservoirs.
Have a lovely day0 -
1) My lovely next door neighbour jumped on me this morning as I left to catch the bus soooooo excited, she'd just heard she's going to be a Nanna in February next year, oh so exciting!
2) The lovely bus driver who was backing out of the bay at the bus depot as I arrived who actually stopped to let me get on, so very kind!
3) Found a lovely ceramic Chamber Candlestick for £1.99 in a charity shop, even better it matches a little collection of Conimbriga Portugese pottery that I already have, looks lovely on my dresser.
4) DD1 texted to see if I'd like a ticket to see Madam Butterfly in Gothenberg in Sweden when we're there at easter next year, wow, do I ever?
5) Usain Bolt has just won the 200 metres in Bejing, he's a good lad that one!
Going to add a 6th one today
6) we've just been for a walk down to the river and through the lanes and as we were walking up the woody slope to the road from the river therre was a Nightingale singing it's little heart out, you can't mistake the song it's like nothing else in bird-dom, a wonderful sound that really makes you glad to be alive!!!0 -
:T:jSNAP for your no. 5 , Mrs LW:j:T
Note careful number of happy chappies, one for each of today's 100 metres at each end. &, UR so silly.
Have come here expressly to match my delight with his 100m win the other day, equally celebrated here. It carries so much more with it.
Back l8r.

Mc Aye, flogging a cart horse there! And one bolted! Again! & Aye Lass! And one flower!
5 Back on the nest with BoPsie. Bags packed and we is off in the morning to see FiL. Old buffer is only one left now. Up with Sparras and we will get some proper meat as well! See posts about sheeple south of Baldock.
4 Tea this evening we have limed prawns, in chilli and tom. Not pre ordained carp from emporium. Recipe available on request, but just squeeze a lime and add the frilly bits. Got it. While in W8rs this day, noted they are copying recipes of the BoP. Cheek! Please note, that their pie of NorffThumbrialands, says to use expensive items. Think BoP. If it fits, it fits.
3 Oh bum, contract extended, so will be south of Baldock for a while. No problem though as I can use knife and fork. Kerching!
2 Night we could be snoggling on sofa with a Ginger! More later
