Rainydays we certainly do get cold weather in Melbourne, we are having a cooler autumn than normal and in winter will have very cool days. We will have overnight frosts and about 1 hour drive away we have the Victorian alps where they have a very active snow / ski season in winter.
This week we have a cold front blowing up from Antartica and it is certainly a cold wind. We have very changeable weather in Melbourne and it's known for having 4 seasons in one day.

On saying all this I did dare and hang a wash out on the line and it did dry.

    Day off :)
Phone call to friend ( multitasking and ironing with phone in crook of neck at same time)
    Dropped DD2 off at school

Hospital. OH has stated that he will not be going back to this hospital. It's a bit of a shambles, appt at 10am , called at 10.20am, no chair for him, ( he is getting IV medication so sits in a recliner chair ) they struggle to get a vein , so should get an anaesthetist first time .....no said nurse , I will try....much pain to OH, I will get Paula....hi , I'm Paula ( 10mins later) ....oh my eye sight is so bad, she says holding the needle, I can hardly see..cue OH & I exchanging looks...so Paula couldn't manage and a bit more pain caused, then after about another 15 minutes an anaesthetist arrived and got it in first time. By this time it's 11.45am before the infusion is even started. It is like this each time and bear in mind we are paying for this service and OH is quite rightly fed up with it! Chat with specialist next week ( again a service that we have to pay for) so hopefully something will be done. I was a nurse and appreciate that they are busy , however, they have booked him at that time , they know he is coming, the first nurse knew he had problems with veins but rather than listen to us decided to go ahead and try....in an area that we knew she would absolutely not find a suitable vein , he suffers the pain and I have to watch him suffer the pain so it's horrible. A pleasure to be found is that we were there together and we manage to have a laugh ...if we didn't laugh we might cry...so better to laugh!

Home...eventually...OH and DS to work, DD1 at uni, DD2 at school and staying on afterwards, so me and my dog watched Poldark....I think he enjoyed it! I enjoyed the peace and quiet...whilst I love having them all at home I can still appreciate a bit of solitude :)

Bedding changed and an extra layer of blanketing put on....one duvet, 3 blankets...still freezing! Looking forward to nice clean sheets tonight :)

    Dog walk.

Made a beef casserole for dinner.very nice too and enough leftover for freezer.

    Have a fabulous Monday
  • Just a quickie as nearly back in midst of SparraShire.

We should care not what the fisher of men do on the southern shores of the Med. Lest our trawl only gathers just shoes and bags.
  • I am just going to flylady my kitchen having got all the washing outside drying in the sunshine.

Tomorrow I will be going to the MIND mental health group in my town - stating it here so that I "have" to go, because I've now told people about it. I find leaving the house very trying at the moment, so this is a big step for me.

I may make some cinnamon buns this afternoon for fun, and am putting some serious time into finishing the knitting on my cardigan - just in time for summer (whoops - but at least it'll be nice and cosy for the autumn!).

Only the Australian style system can ever work and their history tells us that not only did it work, but it has not been repeated since. Alas the namby pamby stupid idiots in Europe will invoke something else.

Mhagster - that has really surprised me, because I read about residents of Aus saying that 23 degrees is cold and they know winter is setting in. For me 23 degrees is optimum temperature. Learn something new every day!

    1. Saturday at DD's pub for this year's Mediaeval Beer Festival. They have a different theme every year and they've excelled themselves this time. The patio area surrounded by 'stone' walls, portico, drawbridge, doors to the bars guarded by 6' armoured sentries. Staff dressed in costume, one barn for entertainment and the other as a tavern with 31 specially brewed beers from all over the UK on offer. Then as soon as I appear someone goes into the kitchen to put the kettle on! It's the only pub I enjoy going to :)
    2. DGD's 2 and 3 worked like serfs all weekend, although it was very warm working in the sun they and the other staff looked wonderfully authentic in mediaeval costume, and there are some super photo's of them all thanks to the excellent photography of DD and DSinL.
    3. Down to earth on Saturday evening, groomed dog and mog then it was me time. Shower/mani/pedi/hair/facial/de-furring (eyebrows etc for those raising their own eyebrows :p) and covering myself in coconut oil before putting on clean cotton jimmies. Slept like a log.
    4. Enjoyed a 'normal' breakfast of F&F, 1/2 chopped banana and skimmed milk. The first after my detox week, to be honest I felt a bit heavy so just the banana and a small glass of milk would have done but it was nice.
    5. Painted my finger and toe nails a pretty pink before dressing in a summery outfit to go to dinner with friends. Took Sparrer's version of Eton mess which went down well and four of the other guests also took tubs home with them.
    6. Today, sleep day

    Have a lovely evening :)

    Good evening everyone :hello:

ampersand - well done to Toulon. We had such an amazing time there in December that they're now the team I'll support in the final.

mhagster - your poor OH. Sounds horrendous.

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Took my class for a walk around the village. Great to see all the (very) old houses - 1600s some of them. Mentioned in the Domesday book, not that the children really understood that concept, but impressive for adults. Came back to school via the edge of the reservoir. Lovely.

    2) Another eBay parcel posted. :j :j Going to have a brief rest and get some more clothes together which I'll sell over half term - easier for me to post then and not rely on DH to run to the Post Office for me. :D

    3) Have resisted buying anything from the Book People, despite a deal on their postage. :A I don't need a thing, but I do lovely shiny new books. They'd only join the others on the shelf waiting to be read...

    4) My class are obsessed with the ospreys webcam. 3 eggs! :j :j http://www.ospreys.org.uk/webcam

    5) Flowers I bought from the market on Saturday are looking so pretty in the house. We also have a band of tulips around the base of our tree in the front garden (patch of grass!).

    Night all x

    Best wishes, Ampersand x

Best of luck for tomorrow, Knittaplease.

    Pleasures for today (Monday again!)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Seems sons had good days at school.

    3) Survived another day at work. Have a timetable, of sorts. Made me laugh that my old school has not changed much - 2 boys very happy at passing their tractor driving tests. :-) I tried to explain to one young man today that most comprehensives are not like his (ours) and that, when you leave, people will not believe you went to school 7 miles from the nearest town, in the middle of fields! Also today, found that one of the teachers went to primary school with me!

    4) Took tomato plants down to dad's and had a cup of tea.

    5) Tasty cous cous for tea with everything I could find in it - pomegranate, chicken, avocado and tomato.

    6) In bed already and will listen to the Archers and Dilemma.

Ampersand - i didn't realise your sad anniversary was the same day as OH;s birthday. My SiL posted a thread on FB for BiL's 5th anniversary, for people to post their happy memories - it was a really nice thread that she is going to print and keep for the children. MiL struggled to join in, but we must make allowances.
Vicky - Monty and Glesni have no eggs yet - but we await with baited breath :D
Mhags - poor OH, Hope he finds somewhere better.

    Pleasures for today

    1. Work :( not really a pleasure. Company of colleagues - a pleasure. Today's procrasination centred around Cockney Rhyming slang.
    2. First proper fast for a while - easily completed. Including veg, coconut and mango curry with a side dish of saag
    3. DS stayed at school till 4 for revision and will do that for the duration now. He seems to realise it is the best way for him to do it.
    4. Nice walks to stations and from. Warm sunshine and spring blooms
    5. Finding a couple of lectures on tomorrow's subject i could [STRIKE]cobble together[/STRIKE] skilfully edit.

Off to beddy byes - night all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

topsyturphy pleased you're feeling better, wishing your cough gone asap

Had a phone call this evening to let me know I've won a £200 voucher in a raffle I'd completely forgotten about.
