Trying day at work for reasons I won't go into here, but suffice to say that some children hear too much and pick up on the not so nice things.
Pleasures still around and abound though...

Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to town and saw my friend. For about 10 minutes until I became so ill I had to go home and go to bed. Did progress to the sofa this evening. :-/ Ate something that really didn't agree with me...
3) Watched Holby City whilst lying flat in bed.
4) Sons helped me make the tea and light the fire.
5) Enjoyed I'm a Celebrity.
Trying to think of something to do with smaller son's friend on Friday as smaller son doesn't want him to come back here. I thought about going to the allotment for a while then McDs but he doesn't like the sound of the allotment bit either. :-/0 -
Evening all
Frith, get well soon.
Sparrer, your post about Muttley having his ears covered made me laugh out loud.
DfV, great post.
Five pleasures for Wednesday:
1. Beautiful dove grey sky with hints of apricot and streak of clouds as I was driving back home late afternoon.
2. Spending a bit of time just now finding out the names of clouds to see if I could be a bit more accurate in my description above. I can't but it was very interesting learning about clouds!
3. Washed my summer duvet and got it dried over the bannisters ready to put away for the winter.
4. The lovely ladies in charge of our little public library. They send me personalised emails and phone messages when I forget to return books on time.
5. Spending much of this evening sitting on the sitting room floor in front of the fire sorting papers and listening to audio books or stuff on iplayer. The warmth has made it much more pleasant.
Sweet dreams

DFV congratulations on the Wood Badge, that's really something to be proud of :T.
villagelife lovely cauli cheese, I think it tastes much nicer the following day
Frith if I remember, last year you and the boys made the wrapping paper for Sinterklass? Will look forward to hearing what you all come up with this time
1. Up at 6am, was at DD's for 9am, quick fuss with the pups and mum then went to the garden city for shopping. How it's changed since I moved there in 1989, all shiny chain stores and American coffee places, such a shame. Ebenezer Howard must be turning in his grave to see his plans pushed aside in the name of progress. Gone are the indoor and outdoor markets, the little theatre/meeting rooms, even the beautiful old post office, now there are strange twists of metal in the name of art and water fountains coming up from the pavements. All very odd. However the pleasure is we knew where the little shops have moved to, the hidden twisty lanes where local traders have taken up residence and where the Asian emporium and lovely little haberdashery shop live today. We had great fun choosing lots of bits to make and wrap presents, some bargain spices, home made chocolates, super books and a rare vinyl for DGD3 who is getting a turntable from her parents. That's the Christmas shopping almost done
2. Stopped at a little privately owned cafe for lunch, friendly service, clean tablecloths and hot food at a very reasonable price. What made it nicer still was no piped Christmas muzac.
3. Back to DD's house and loaded all 7 pups into a cage which (much to my surprise) fitted easily into the boot of my car. It always surprises me how much the boot holds. Took them to the vet for micro-chipping which was traumatic for all of us because they all yelped. It's the same vet I use, they don't seem to be in business to make a fortune, they just enjoy what they do. A refreshing change.
4. Back to DD's, arrived at the same time that DGD3 got in from school. Always a pleasure to see her
5. Gave a talk this evening, a lively and fun q&a time afterwards.
Sweet dreams0 -
Gosh, I did enjoy that, I caught up on here whilst listening to ISIHAC and it was perfect.
Mhagster, yippy yipsters at the school news.
DfV ...we lead into..
1. The trolley arrived today, whilst I was out. I opened the box and checked all was well, superficially but haven't unpacked it properly as yet . I will decorate it for Chrimbo as DfV suggested and give it a bit of personalisation.
The trike is personalised, he has a Safeways box and Karabiner clips, not to mention his swish new additions of saddle, gears, brakes, tyres and pedals.
2. The manager of next door took the box in on delivery and the owner of the residential home messaged me to let me know. Splendido.
3. Fantastic night at the live music club raising money for the Salv. Army's Anti Trafficking Service.
An £80 tent, one of the 5 prizes I took in - all mfcturer freebies from River - went unclaimed so will be surfacing as a prize at the club Christmas raffle.
4. Lovely phone chat with niece.
5. Most importantly, the eventual safe arrival of a friends' first grandchild. The mother had a horrendous reaction to the general anaesthetic for a Caesarean, the babe had breathed in meconium and all was a bit sticky for a while. All is now much better. Babe is truly beautiful. I know they all are usually, but she is.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
chicken I didn't know there was any other way to eat Pringles
Procrastinate! Procrastinate! Just over 48 hours to go till a houseful of people descend and I have a house you could stir.....waiting till it's suitably dark to go and fill other peoples rubbish bins! It's very hot and muggy and a few spots of rain, feels like it could downpour.
I've just watched some random persons wedding video highlights after watching a short health board video a friend had sent....no idea who these people are but their wedding looked fabulous! procrastinate! Procrastinate!
Good shift at work, I broke the food processor by accident and bought a new one in replacement, not expecting to get refunded as it was my fault...but got the cash backa new girl has started and she seems very nice. Boss has a new job to start in new year and I will be taking over all the reins then!
Went to cheap ( well as cheap as florists are out here) florist in my work town and bought DD1 some beautiful pink peonies and white hyacinths , the scent is beautiful. Made DD smile as my MIL always had a bowl of hyacinths at Christmas and she said, oh they smell like Gran's.
We had some lunch at local cafe, then went to her work, shop to get a few bits and pieces. The fabric conditioner I like was on offer but only one left in store, so I got a rain check voucher for 4 more, they were half price, so I will restock next week at that same sale price.
It's now raining which is so good for the garden and the water butts.
Found half a bag of crisps ! Ate them whilst watching the wedding highlights
I also bought myself a new food processor, the one I'd had for 22 years broke when I dropped it in June...I'm detecting a theme here with broken things! It was a faff as it still had a UK I plug and I had to get the extension cable and adaptor every time I needed to use it ( that's how it fell) shall make pastry to make quiches, seeing as I have about 30 egg yolks to use up.
Me and my dog were out in the front garden ( he finds this a very exciting place to be as he's usually only out in back) I filled 4 vases with flowers.
Right! I'm stepping away from the iPad! Have a lovey Thursday , I'm off to make pastry!0
