VJsmum - hurrah for DS! Oooh ducklings! Congratulations on the eschewing - it does get a *little* easier with time. Wild meadow sounds utterly glorious.
Ampersand - a willing baptism?! Splendid, *and* you saved the laundry. All best vs the bank - confident they will succumb to your remorseless logic & charm! Likewise lock - howlingly frustrating but sortable. Tolkien costumier?! Only you dear &! Self-sufficientish great fun, thank you!
Kittikins - Theatre Shoes - the Forbes' ventures with the deft hands of Fossils above them? Lovely read! Le Creuset & 89%?! Bliss! All best with application! Hurrah for dawning of self confidence & boo hiss to old place. Latin for KS2 & the Head sous-cheffing, oh my!
CCP - isn't the yellow stuff fun! (Our rolling clouds then unload gallons of the wet stuff, but it saves heaving a watering can around.) Rest up & let Isis delight you!
Supersaver - well done, enjoy the lie in & then seize the new opportunities with both hands! Hurrah for the tennis... Skinheads on a raft, eh? I learned "Adam & Eve on a raft & wreck 'em", "zeps in fog" & "throw two, hockey puck, make it cry", but then I was in California at a very rapid-language-acquisition age. I'll not repeat the NATO stuff I learned later, as it's as clear, but 'way more indelicate. Chill while you can!
Purple kitten - it is right, proper & needful to take things easy some days, especially where they include an MRI. Glad you had an effective chill pill - the process is surprising noisy.
going-nowhere-fast - welcome! Son, strawberries, comedies & jam? You'll fit right in here!
VickyA - Happy birthday DH! Your maths lessons sound far more fun than the ones I remember! Chocolate Mousse Cake - you can't get fat(ter) just imagining it, can you?
mhagster - celebrating the Queens Birthday with a bath. Potato wedges and jelly babies?! Hope you have more boxes squirelled for later! Ah change - "give it a try" is a potent tool as once new way is familiar, it becomes almost as hard to shift as the old! Cakes in tummy - and rightly so. Rubbing them into the left kneecap never seemed appreciative to me.
Frith - hoping broadband back, all fences sorted to how they ought to be & that roses & clematis flourish - all best with hospital! And plans for future visits.
BoP - you, sir, are a sweetie. One son shares your sentiments re the massacre of the mushroom & indeed will pursue a pig for miles. Another just eats both. Right with you on clamp earnings.
lovefullshelves - hello kitty pjs? OK, imagination shoved back into box & sitting on lid. Think BoP'll have words about snossages, but they do sounds delicious! Solar lights reflected - oooh!
mcculloch - good news? The sort that used to take 18 weeks to be absolutely sure all was well? Bush coat sounds fabulous & hurrah for live music! With you on no recollection of not being able to read - colleague learned to sew, knit & crochet before she learned to read - we politely disagree on which way round is best!
sparrer - welcome back from your foreign travels & may DM be better soon.

    OS Pleasures recently
    More of this yellow stuff!

Son's expression after he'd chipped a clay shooting with Explorers - think he has a sore shoulder but oh what a grin!

Showed your blanket DD (& the Ravelry dishcloth patterns) to a scout mum - her resolve to teach her twins to knit is glowing! They're *all* Whovians.

Colleague's expression when I showed him Google tilt...

Thinking about books for retiring colleague - don't think he shares my delight in a good murder so Harry, Bill Bryson & some restful murders - Agatha Christie for example.

Got a letter from a former bank sorted with surprisingly little fuss!

N'other son has cooked Spring Rolls. Like any loving mother, I parked my diet to support his culinary efforts!

The house hair dryer is being used to soak beeswax into leather. The chaps are all shorthairs & I'm a longhair with short arms & a profound mistrust of heat damage - the hair dryer is only used waxing things!

Iron Maiden, Metallica & Motörhead logos on car in front of me, but also "lamb of god"... Who turn out to be also metal.

Big hugs to all who need them, travel socks & parasols likewise & may we be able to resist both fear & temptation.
  • Boo gar.

Look, this tennis thing. It was Ms Evert. Got it. We all did :beer::beer:. Now yous lot it was probably that Jimmy bloke. You gals could only drool, we could only wish. See crumbs and cake again. Patter cake. Numbers, KK living by numbers. Old Mr Wrack had a dart board to explain numbers. Just caught & in a 17th century rush hour, wonder if that is McC’s hoss trotting along.. Gave old & an unerringly long time to decompose my runtings. Yep, the chase is still the same!! Oh, and afore I forgets, apols to DfV for my runtings, Thought I see now she hath deciphered it all.

5 Dilemma. Was flicking through to see if it is worthwhile actually getting TV for World Cup. Then flicked on the iPlayer, and a programme called Pointless Celebrities came up. Sums it up really. The chase rumbles on.

4 There are plenty around you that are in complete knowledge what is wrong, and then frog march you off for the dose. Yet no one asks do they? !!!!!!ed at 2, yet no one mentioned it. At 11, note wrong with you. Still some mentioned. The chase continues for answers.

3 As it rained again yesterday, our local community led initiative of anti people, the local Great Crested Newt pond, fenced off to prevent humanoid incursions, and totally overgrown while the inaction committee sip their whine and cheese through rose tinted glasses, Raffles has conducted his own survey, and has at least two more confirmed kills, and these are not his first either. I understand that they charge £3.50 a head to count what is left, I suggest those of interest in this activity hurry along now, as Raffles is currently winning the battle. Raffles is available to others who may have suffered a vermin incursion recently. He tends to chase pigeons as well. No landers have been sighted in recent days. Yet Raffles, he chases on!

2 Anyway, back to the one demand player, and BoPsie found a programme yesterday. Al Murray, Compete for the Meat. Keeps her bemused and giggly all night. And with bedtime cocoa, real stuff, the Bourneville variety, not that foam stuff from a packet, cupped with a toasted crumpet. Makes the day end bright and the chase, goes on.

1 Stop, you’re chasing something you cannot get, so why waste your energy?

    1. My OH waking up at 5am and offering to drive me to work (I work 35 miles away) even though he didn't have to get up until 10am for his job.

    2. OH is also picking me up from the train station in my car so I can have an impromptu driving lesson before my test :)

    3. The relief of making two batches of chicken stir fry because I dropped a salt mill yesterday and a million and four little grains of uncracked salt landed in my food!

    1) Watching a strange-looking blue tit in the garden and suddenly realising why it looks strange - it's got some sort of genetic abnormality which means the feathers which are usually blue or yellow are grey and white. It's like watching a blue tit on a black and white television!

    2) The large glass of water I drank when I got back after my counselling appointment, having got stuck in traffic in the baking sun for half an hour.

    3) Nearly at the minimum pay-out level for the new survey site I joined, after only a week. :money:

    4) Chicken salad with (rather spicy) chilli mayo for dinner, with cheesy garlic bread and a glass of wine.

    5) Early night tonight - the long, hot drive has left me exhausted!
Back after a very long break!

1-99. I've got a job!!! And it's at the school I loved and was slightly messed about by when they were unable to give me a job before :) Another job came up which was officially for a more qualified teacher, but as it's late in the recruitment season, he was delighted I'd got in touch as (so it turned out) I'd only been rejected as they are allowed to prioritise Catholic teachers and was as good as the other new recruits. Thankfully, whilst the official closing date for the vacancy is Friday afternoon, he was able to call me today to offer me the job :) Sooooo excited and happy (and finding it impossible to concentrate on what I'm going to do tomorrow for my maths lesson!!)

    2. DD had a brilliant afternoon at another school's music event for promising scholars :)

    3. Came home to hugs and a celebration dinner with the family :)

    4. and celebratory sparkly rose!

    5. Lots of lovely messages on FB :)

    6. Daddykins' father's day present has arrived - phew! I wasn't expecting it until Friday at the earliest :)

    7. My present to myself, a book on Luke's gospel, arrived the same time:)

    8. I managed to book tickets for DD and I to go to the Vikings exhibition at the BM on its final day :) We're going to have to get up at the crack of dawn to make our slot, but we're excited :)

Apologies for my lack of posting the last few days, not really sure where the time has gone.

Frith - I'm so sorry to hear that all didn't go to plan with little frith's operation. Hope he is doing ok and that you can get it rearranged.

Sparrer - Sending get well wishes for your mam, really hope she is doing alright.

Going Nowhere Fast - Welcome. I'm fairly new but it's a lovely place to be.

Hugs and warm thoughts to everyone else who needs or wants them.

Here are some of my pleasures from the last few days.

1 - Lovely messages from my staff about their treats and personal messages which really made me happy.

2 - Weighed in on Monday, despite having a very naughty week last week, and had lost 3lbs. I'm putting it down to being busy and a little bit of stress but I'll take it.

3 - Got lots done around the house. Even washed the windows which I was tempted to pay for someone to do.

4 - Visited another town. Popped to see some people I know which was nice. Didn't even feel like shopping so just popped to Wilkos for needed things and headed home.

5 - OH came home last night. Albeit only for a day but I love it when he comes back.

6 - Gorgeous sunshiney day today.

7 - Went to Brands Hatch for OH to have a driving experience (Christmas gift). He thoroughly enjoyed it and it was great to see. He also treated me to a passanger ride, bit scary but such fun!
