Yes it's against the law to use your phone, new police equipment will be able to spot someone using their phone or not wearing their seatbelts from 700 metres away.

However, people still persist in taking the chance.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
mhagster - what a scary day for you! So glad everyone's OK.

    1) Seminar day at work: I was horribly anxious about it (no idea why :undecided) but all went well. I have to confess, though, that the best bit for me was being sent to guard the buffet lunch, and getting a quiet half hour with my kindle before all the guests arrived! :o

    2) Free buffet lunch - for once I got the quantities just about right, so there wasn't loads of leftover food but everyone got to try everything they wanted - including the hot and spicy prawns, which usually go before I get one - this time there were comments that they were too spicy so they were left for those of us who like our food hot. :D Followed by HM coffee and walnut cake, which was .

    3) Ordered my train ticket for next week: as usual, the cost of a train up to London made me , but I used the loyalty points I gained from playing the fantasy F1 game online last year, which brought it down to a slightly more reasonable price.

    4) Purry, furry, rolling-around-on-the-floor Isis while I was trying to work out the train ticket booking system - she didn't help much, but it was funny to watch. :)

    5) As I didn't get a takeaway last night, I think I can just about justify one tonight as a post-seminar treat - I think I'll go for a Chinese, and have my usual (mixed starters, followed by mixed satay and veg chow mein - enough for three generous meals as the portions from the local Chinese place are ENORMOUS!).

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    4. I have a carpenter keen to come over next week and help give me ideas for the flat :) He'll have quite a nice big job - 2 wardrobes and a mahoosive desk/bookcase/cupboard combo to design and build

    5. New tyre on the car, ouch at the price, but yay that the car feels much better to drive now!

    6. DD and I went to Waitroose and bought icecreams then popped in to our soon to be local park. She was impressed with her first visit :)

    7. Free strawberry in W's as well :)

    8. Free newspaper as I bought a bottle of wine.

    9. I'm more than half way through writing the essay of doom! Would love to get it finished by tomorrow afternoon.....

    11. We peeped through the windows of our soon to be new flat :):)

    Evening all-

We are in between houses and with minimal internet so this is a quick visit. Need to touch base with sane people following a grotty bit of contact from someone who clearly isn't too happy at the moment.

So five happy things from me.

    1. We are about 75% of the way through the move now and the loveliest thing was when we walked through the door of the new place it was all clean and painted and fresh looking, and in the disused fireplace there was a broom (bit like this one https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/152128103/16-handmade-halloween-brooms-decorative?ref=market) so I took it as a sign that a Broomstick was meant to be living there!:D

    2. The garden is really pretty and loads more flowers were out since our first visit: bluebells and forget-me-nots and various herbs and all sorts in blues and pinks.

    3. DSs bedrooms are completely moved and sorted so they have dens to hide in and mine is not far off being done.

    4. Freegle has come up trumps big time: an IKEA armchair in good nick except for the cover so I blew £25 on a replacement - well worth it; a very solid wooden double bed base for DS2; and dust sheets ready for us to start redecorating some of our old house prior to handing it back in slightly better shape.

    5. The weather has been wonderfully on our side and the moons at night have been an absolute treat. And last night I heard hooty owls in the street so I haven't lost those with the move either.

Off to shift some more shelves... back in a few days

    Sweet dreams
    B x

DD - isn't it great going off-net for a bit?! That blanket is powering along - so looking forward to seeing a photo! Celebrating with penguins sounds loads of fun. If you must drive, why not sing? It's usually more fun that way.
VickyA - glad you had fun in London & well doen OH digging! (Whole new respect for that after my efforts!) Love wine o'clock... Ironing pile attacked? Were you much hurt? Ironing mountain finished? You've *earned* the break! Clean sheets await you... There's planning!
sparrer - so sorry to hear of neighbour but thankful to think of village support. Nasturtiums/ aspersions too?! Given how we cast the seeds, it makes even more sense. I do love Much Ado - the whole Beatrice/ Benedict dickering is just glorious. Not at all surprised a nice young lad materialised to help - you pay things forward too. Robbins are cheeky souls. Odds on you'll have company! Bless you teaching the essentials of gardening even if it sacrifices experienced speed! Happy taps! A good day shopping?
Purple kitten - survived MOT, had friendly chat with neighbours, batch cooked AND got tidying/cleaning laundry done? Awe!
VJsmum - happy holidays! Happy birthday your OH & while some temptations should be given in to, others should be firmly resisted. You know what I mean.
supersaver - well done on good times! Please explain "eat daily frog" in your sig? <imagination boggling> Ah. YouTube has the weirdest answers. Many thanks & it's never to late to soothe boggling things. Five bags to charity shop? Well done!
kittikins - glad you've had a relaxing week & that preparations for your flat are proceeding but not interrupting things! Hurrah for "tell me when" stories. Best way of being absolutely certain of your place at the centre of the universe. All good wishes with applications to schools! Well done on MOT & all the best with shelving quote. Not easy to wrestle essay to the mat when sunlight & bluebells call!
mcculloch - well done on chili seedlings & have fun with herbs! (slug vs basil - slugs win.) Aldi sourced us gooseberry bushes, hurrah - good folks!
mhagster - oh good, someone else who can carry a cheque for a bit. (I'm dreadful for it.) Well done DD1 ironing without being told - she can move onto the Advanced Stuff soon! Dear heavens, what a day for prangs & well done you keeping your head and being able to help. Total Eclipse of the Moon plus possum - dead right too. Another cinema ticket! (No more blue tape?!)
ampersand - another famberley with nasturtium traditions! It's the silly things that hold us together decades later - we should enjoy them as much as possible. Well done you quietly helping the glam with a shoelace & her being gracious about it! Ma foi, the cooking! Clafouti & lasagne - fascinated by the provencal carrot & that waitrose beef is less expensive than that of T. Given how much the chaps devour, must lug a fridge bag to the office tomorrow. That sounds like a right & proper sendoff for a special bloke - that a church flagpole is a minesweeper mast just fits somehow (parts of the big telescope at Jodrell Bank are ex navy gun turret mechanisms & Lovell startled his politicians too) Hurrah for Easter treats accumulating, the NZ card & your timely hand for dopey bee!
CCP - I can't comment much on yellow stuff - my laptop developed hayfever & died in the unexpected bright. Happily a work problem. Bluetit devouring? Splendid - we had to hide out feeders inside leafy things to sheild them from the corvid community. We can hear but not see much. All best with MOT & enjoy GoT on kindle - 2 of us have read them, 3 not but blimey the TV version is done *well*! Guardian of the Buffet eh? All kindle time is good, but almost surreptitious time is even better. (I have the app & much good reading on my phone - barely a second wasted but eyeballs can require sleep!) Hurrah multiple nights good feeding from the Chinese!
lovefullshelves - well done your children & I'm still all a-giggle at drying in the greenhouse. It's brilliant thinking! Cleared kitchen & saw both worksurfaces? and hoovered *and* chopped wood (this latter, was it wise? warming & exerciseful yes, but any eeks from middle other than aggreived musculature?)
Frith - so higgidy pie is the maker rather than the content? (Our homity recipe is cheese & onion & spud & spinach & as we were taught it, tastes even better with a sausage or two. Dad is not very good at pure vegetarian cuisine.) Hurrah for the geocache - what a unique wedding treat! Preparation accelerating - not a cheep over haircuts? Dare I ask what you will do with Fluffy Scotsman?
BoP - glad to see you back & putah compliant - thank you for supervising Raffles' hard work with the yellow stuff! Happy birthday BoPsie!
Tealady - empty washing basket? Awe! Well done you being able to see the work future & not flinch.
jue - welcome! Hot chocolate and hugs are special pleasures.
Broomstick - hurrah for the move & hang on in there. Stunning broom - clearly A Good Sign! Freegle-fu another good sign, so enjoy it (insofar as you can) & we look forward to your safe return!

    OS Pleasures recently
iPlayer link from Ampersand started with last few seconds of The Archers & had me baffled: hurrah for faith! The spinning: pot of tea ratio sounds a bit low though. The Gambler is a superb persuasive eccentric!

Lovely fat pigeon bobbing on a branch!

A "Mini Pigs for sale" sign led to a son revealing a pal's girl was getting one. "And your lass?" The enquiry followed, to be utterly ended with little brother's observation "oh, she's already got one." Some days it's *very* tough being plump in our family.

Hugs & giggles & "got you!"s & rollings over - sometimes hugs are beneath son's dignity & sometimes we just play. Young monster snaffled my socks!

"Every where around Bath there are bodies" (Time Team) - this healthy reputation seems to be based on burying them efficiently.

On the sunniest day yet, Himself has had drops put into his eyes & is struggling. The library have been beyond helpful with the inter-library loans, chuckling with me that I may have to read some of these hefty tomes aloud!

Ye Gods. Child ingesting Cream Soda making the loudest slurping I have heard for a while!

So where's this Moon then? Ah well - I didn't kill myself or other road users scanning for it.

    Trees frothy with cherry blossom!

My knees feel a bit elderly after yesterday's digging, but the blackberry cuttings (thriving young thug plants!) from mum, & 3 gooseberry bushes from Aldi are in! Haven't quite figured how you do board edging...

The pea & bean seedlings are making every other seeking look puny - I need a word with the young thegn about the sequence of digging, planting, reaping & eating!

More social networking as husband tries to stop weeds with fire. I'm enjoying quality time with Ian Hislop...

Big higs to all who need them, phew got through MOT where applicable & keep the hwbs handy to ensure ongoing supplies of the yellow stuff!
