Greetings from my new to me chair...now less wobbly than it was as OH sorted it out....it had quite a lurching to the side wobble which is why I think someone put it in charity shop. It just needed a sort!
Saturday scone...normal service has resumed. Mooch through the papers and supplements and a look at the tennis matches ahead in next 2 weeks...can Andy do it this year and win the Melbourne Cup?
Did an aldi shop today , stocked up on fruit and veg . Our local green grocers is closed ...lots of local businesses close down over Christmas / first few weeks of January. I miss the green grocers . Just bought enough last weekend at supermarket as it was so expensive , considering its summer and lots of fresh fruit is in season. We don't get the cheap fruit and veg deals in aldi as you do in UK but it is generally cheaper than other supermarket.
Popped into other supermarket as I had checked my receipt a couple of days later ( usually check on way out of shop but had just got off a plane,) the rtc salad had been charged at full price, so I got the difference refunded today. Bread has went up in price since we went home. OH is working away next week so don't need lunches for him and kids and I will have 'snacky teas ' ( ie....yer mammy cannae be bothered cooking) it's to be very hot so picnic-y food will do us fine. So that cut down on food bill.
Gardened a lot today. There is just so much to do and one day we will get there! We live on a large corner plot with a lot of different areas to the garden. It was cooler today a more bearable 19o when we were out and about and it warmed up to about 25o.
Picked a little posy of garden flowers ...debugged!
Sat out at front porch and read through my new Jamie Oliver cookbook, so I feel quite inspired to try out some of his recipes. I do love a nice cook book..I love reading them and looking at the photos...what they should look like.
We bought peas to plant , I have them soaking ...DD2 asked " Why are there peas swimming in a bowl?"
Being thankful that I thoroughly tidied house before we left, I've felt very slovenly all week with horrid jetlag, have an ironing pile that would frighten you and my Hoover belt broke. Just had to order a new one and it will be Thursday before it's in stock! yikes!!
Remembering that friend had made us lovely butter cookies ( in the shape of flowers) so we have been tucking into them
It's been a thoroughly pleasant day, nice to be with OH all day. He's been back at work since Monday. Kids have all helped out with chores when asked. We will have reheated takeaway leftovers for dinner later.
Have a lively Saturday
kittikinsyou've been quiet past week, hope all is well.
Eta monster ironing done whilst watching Tudor farm on YouTube???always grateful that people take the time and effort to upload programmes that I like to watch.0 -
camnolliesmum fab on the pizza saving
Well done on the last nine years frith you have grown amazingly strong. When my sis threw her husband out i sent her a card a woman is like a teabag you dont know how strong she is till she's in hot water. You are builders tea, an amazing mum and sister and your words on this thread have been inspirational. I am only now finding out what sort of teabag i am
5 for yesterday as got home late
1) for lunch heated up the leftover from wednesday do and in the fridge since little rolls made from wrap, chicken, spring onion and soy sauce. Very tasty
2) dd2 back to uni sob but does mean i get my bed back (i very generously swapped as her bf was over)
3) friend's leaving do at 5. Didnt get away rom work till 6:40 waited for the no. 5 (£1.80) and the 42 arrived (£1.45)
4) disadvantage of 42 is slightly longer walk to the do, advantage was this walk included finding £50
5) party still going strong when i got there. Enough nibbles left to save buying supper. Walked home saving bus fare so i could call in at police station with the money. If noone claims it by April it's mine if they do i shall glow at the favour done. Oh and then found a 5p. Only another 999 to go and i'll have my £50 roflMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

That's some reverbe DD,
I once found money outside post office after picking up DS from nursery...so not yesterday , I handed it in and received a reward from the little old lady who had dropped it from her pension!0 -
Morning all - and what a fine, sunny morning it is.
Two loads on the line already to make the most of it :T
Blimey DD - 50 squid!! Well done you for handing it in - not everyone would, you know. Though I would as I have been [STRIKE]cursed[/STRIKE] blessed with a massive conscience. Hooray for found earring
DforV - tall buildings, red lights, pilots? You have too much time on your hands. Hooray for the casting - please say "Hello Tailor" cos LFS wont :rotfl:
Caterina - hope your worries have receded. The Railway Man is on my massive list of "films I want to see" - along with Mandela, 12 years a slave, Saving Mr Banks, August Osage COunty, Wolf of Wall St, Nebraska and so on and so forth. No time, though
Broomstick - well done on the weightloss:T. On that road myself
Mhags - bodyclock back to normal now? Loving the vicarious warmth
CCP - Have the raindrops stopped falling on your head?
BoP - Does the cat get the claws too
CamNollie - well done on the pizza
Chicken - lurrrve broccoli and stilton. Broccoli and cheddar nice too. One of DDs fave on Soup and Pud night.
VickyA - sorry for your meltdown. Hope sausages make things better.:)
Frith - loving the washing up pyramid! More charity shop finds - I don't know how you do it.
Sparrer - enjoy your Yorkshire stay
Hmm, what sort of teabag would I be? I'd like to be a nice fragrant delicate Darjeeling - but am afraid I might be bog standard Tetley's, functional but not very exciting! :rotfl:Think there might be a hint of Lapsang Souchong in there though.;)
Yesterday's pleasures
1. Easy drive to work, interesting debate on local radio on the way. I love local radio, you soon see what erm, varied views people have. The debate was about the headline of the fella with 22 children who got away with not going to prison for dealing cannabis and is on benefits cos of his bad back. One lady said "with all those kids, no wonder he's got a bad back" :rotfl: Another "he can't have a bad back if he's doing all that humping":p
2. Teaching session was OK
3. Lunch with friends
4. Sea bass for tea - yumlicious
5. Hair done by mad hairdresser. We are the same age and it was definitely a pleasure when she announced my age to the shop and people looked genuinely shocked "but you haven't got a line on your face":)
a cheeky 6 - out for a drink with former cleaner and still friend (Same person). Lovely to catch up - its been too long.
Have a lovely day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Afternoon all - I thought I'd do a quick post so I'm still about, although my computer isn't - it's at the shop being 'looked at'. From the manager's reaction I think it might be a very dead pooter, so I may end up negotiating either a refund or a replacement next week. :undecided
VJsmum - raindrops have stopped falling, thanks - my LL has had the roof repaired and has - reluctantly - agreed to get the damage inside fixed as well, once everything's dried out. I've just been wiping the worst bits with mould remover, as advised, but stopped when lots of plaster started coming away too!
Right, I guess I should go and do some studying, as lack of pooter cuts down on alternative occupations! I'll catch up properly on , using my work computer.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good afternoon all !
Mr. blue sky today :j
Sparrer- I love Kenny .E and Marmite except it plays havoc with my eczema - (not KE). Used to watch it with the parentals when I was too young to know any better
VJsmum - ooh pretty young ladyWhat a nice compliment. I often wonder what you look like. Not in a stalkery type way.
DfV- she "steps in" to her harness
5 for today
1. Mr. Blue . Three lots of washing done and on line.
2. Let hens out up the top garden separate fenced off area (with fence panels in situ !!!) as I was about in garden. They were quite spooked and on edge as Mr. Fox has been making the most of the open plan gardens .Wanted to go back in their run after 45 mins as now institutionalised .Still its nice to see them out.
3. Cousin's gf called who lives two doors away to say that she had seen the fox in the garden at 8am which has made my mind up to buy an extended fox proof run . Cost a fortune but peace of mind priceless.I have no mortgage now, kids or bad habits to finance so it will be doneSo paced the garden to consider where to relocate the whole thing.
4. Will make paella for tea .
5. DM enjoying her lunch of the soup I made yesterday.
Have a lovely day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
It's a little bit rambling and a mix of the last couple of days.:o
Does anyone know how to find a “recommended” kitchen fitter, or would anyone recommend?
Also I have a little sampler about 0.4ml of Clinique parfum “happy”, if anyone would like it please PM me and I’ll send it on.
Chicken: Congrats on being mortgage free, I’m not “that” smartly dressed for work so I use the work excuse on all my clothes, and can’t help but say the Kenny Everet saying mimicking his way..:p
VJsmum: What’s the SB challenge? Definitely another J.Browns fan here only found them last year, do the prices keep coming down? See I reckon my size will sell out, it always does. It would be fine if I was small and could go larger but unfortunately that’s not the case:rotfl:
DD: wow finding £50 blimey, very decent to hand it in.:T
Broomstick: well done on the weight loss, I’m also trying.:o
Fri.
1. Popped to Mr T for some night kalms, also picked up a couple of yellow stickers, did the shop in a record 4 mins I think and have 2kg of potatoes for 25p, a chicken and stuffing filling for 20p, 2 work sandwiches for 23p:cool:
2. Downloaded a few free kindle books
3. We popped around the corner to B and Q while they have the 25% off and got a kitchen designed we were very impressed in fairness by the chap doing it, and we have found the kitchen for us. I am so so happy, we have decided we will be staying put a few years so have made the kitchen ours, it’s only a tiny kitchen as he kept pointing out,but the design looks lovely we are going for aubergine bottom units, and white top units which I’m hoping will give a bit of an illusion of bright, clean sort of spacious, and well it’s very close to our wedding colours.
4. Tidied and cleaned the bedroom, new sheets.
For Sat:
5. Popped around the corner to Pets@H with a voucher and picked up a half price calendar, and picked up a magazine as it has a photo of our ferrets in this month:D.
6. Just made a rather bizarre leftover dinner ah well it was hot, raided the freezer as for once we have clotted cream, and de frosting are scones and I have h/m strawberry jam it has to be done the only time we would have clotted cream.
7. Played with the animals and let them out in the garden where they go loopy.
8. Started clearing out the junk room, and popped on the web to sell a whole bunch of books I type in the isbns into various sites nothing. Ho hum.0 -
Vicky, thank you for the surveys info. I'll look into that.
DD, that teabag quote is one of my favourites. £50 is a huge find. Hope the owner is able to reclaim it. You'll enjoy the warm glow - I did something similar forty years ago and the warm glow - worth so much more than the money - is still with me. Thanks for the reminder.
VJsmum and Pk, good luck with your weight loss too. Sparrer, as well from the WL thread.
Five pleasures for Saturday:
1. Went for a walk into town with DS1 to clock up my steps for the day. Lovely to walk and chat in the sunshine.
2. Managed just to walk and not shop so another NSD and a NPD too.
3. Made a very comprehensive bottom of fridge veg soup. The celeriac disguised everything else I put in! Went very nicely with the rest of the yellow supper of scrambled eggs (on toast for DSs) and mango juice! Fridge is looking good and empty.
4. Enjoyed watching new Bletchley Circle ep 1 on itvplayer even if the stories are quite far fetched.
5. The blue-labelled hyacinths have blossomed - they played a trick on me because one of them has turned out to be pink.Need to take them over to my mum while they smell so lovely.
Sweet dreams

Evening everyone :hello:
VJsmum - your description of your local radio station made me laugh out loud! I really must listen to my local radio more often. I listen to the local commercial one with music, but not the "serious" one!
Broomstick - don't hesitate to ask if you need any more info regarding the surveys etc.
Feeling slightly better as it's the weekend. Really must build up resilience!
My pleasures for today:
1) DH and I have spent today in Stratford Upon Avon. We've used our Art Card to visit both Shakespeare's birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage. A really lovely day.
2) Continued the lovely day by coming home and going out for dinner at the pub - 2 pizzas and a bottle of wine for £21.95Not OS, but there was some slack in the budget for this.
3) Posted my parcel to my Amazon buyer. Hoping for the other books to be sold now... Fingers crossed.
4) All credit cards are up to date. Martin would be proud of me, paying everything off IN FULL. :money:
5) Cups of tea, which I realise are good for the soul.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
VickyA - a good sausage supper is a sure & certain comfort. Were you largely dry in Stratford? Tea is one rung above sausage in my pantheon, but I am a bit odd.
Frith - the mortgage is not a straightforward beast. You are doing well with the charity shops! I admire the son's washing up protest.
sparrer - that wasn't quite the phrase m'husband used but certainly the gist! Flowers & cake can't be wrong, no matter where the YS were or were not. How long before you know if your hosuehold is expecting?!
Caterina - bootcamp? Braver than I! Excel Expert - stick at it, it's a much appreciated & very portable skill!
mhagster - glad Himself has restored the chair to its proper self! "peas swimming" aww! Well Done with all the ironing!
DD - dead right on Frith & hear, hear! Walk included Finding £50 which you then handed in?! Heroine! (Husband once found a wad of notes on top of a crate under a charity stall, & handed the entire thing over.)
VJsmum - the red lights are just an unexpected "I wonder" as I stumble from car park to office at MuchTooEarly in the morning. Never occured to me to 'fnur' at the red of the lights until two & a half days later... Local radio can be riveting! Mad hairdresser?
CCP - all the best with your puter! Hurrah for waterproof roof (at last!) & eventual interior repairs.
Chickenopolis - delighted to hear terrier appears to like harness & all the best with extended fox proof run shopping!
Purple kitten - the Right Kitchen! Excellent & in your wedding colours?! (Now that had *never* occured to me. Well done you!) All the best clearing the junk room!
Broomstick - bottom of fridge soup has my imagination boggling. Hyacinths smell amazing & their coilouyrs are very deceptive. You can be *certain* its a paperwhite & up pops a delft blue.!
OS pleasures
Engine Management Light back On. WD40 is keeping me rolling, so far.
Good to see the period weaponry at Leeds Armouries. Gives the lads a little more to think about.
As m'mother-in-law sorts through birthday cards, "is that cake?" pipes up an intrigued voice. Bless her, she laughed!
Told MiL about loophole in bedroom tax & she's writing to a cousin tonight. (He's not on the phone.)
Made one payment. Made several blokes very happy. Sword blades will go into post Monday.
Big hugs to all those who need them, more yellow stuff (please Raffles?!) and lunatic vaulting rabbits (try QI) to all who want them.0
