Thanks all for your kind thoughts re my little sister. She has to have one more test this morning and, if that's clear, she can come out - and what a lovely day she's got for it, too. :undecided ampersand - you're quite right about the number of times she has been into hospital, which is why it worries me (and her) that they're now saying they can't see anything seriously wrong that could have caused all this. I suppose the main thing is that she is getting better, but it's still worrying that they don't know why she was so unwell in the first place.
Frith - sorry to hear about your scary slide, but I'm glad you're all OK.
I'm currently sitting with a recording of Christmas carols playing, to drown out the howling of the wind as Isis doesn't like the noise and keeps going into hiding. Although it's really for her benefit, I can't deny I'm rather enjoying it too. :snow_grin
I'll be back later with some pleasures for today.Back after a very long break!0 -
ampersand - brilliant idea, thankyou. I was thinking how owl like the brown hat i made looked.
Hmmm cat hat too maybe?!
1. OH eating TWO pieces of lemon pie last night, always makes me grin 'i think I need another piece'
2. 'rose garden'. Lynn Anderson, youtube. Reminded me of my mum singing along when I was tiny.
3. DS's idea to leave a single sprout for grandad on christmas day. He only ever would have one. (First year of my life my dad won't be there on xmas day:( we always waited for him to arrive before we opened pressies.
4. Alot of NSD's as I've been nowhere!
5. Not opened my sealed pot, I shall save them for...something!
Big hugs to all those who are missing someone this xmas xx2013 NSD 100. CC2014CC- £31.50/£1352014 NSD 86 so far - May 20/212014 G/C spend £741.55 so far May £107.99/£91Debt Free - 30.05.13 Emergency tin - £1000June 23 - 9NSD0 -
We are Sprout free, so there!
Boxing day eh, eh, there lass DD. Yous On. Best one I remember was Boxing day 1979. Barnsley at the Theatre of Fish. Hunter and Clarke playing for the tykes. First Corner, Bob Cummnings goes up, and nudges Hunter. Red Card. Hunter called over, Red Card. Clarke remonstrates. Red Card. Atmosphere choked on the breath of induced alcohol, and smoked haddocks. 2-0. Bring it on, uou know you want to.
5 Are the sproats done yet?
4 Just had me blood tests done. Still miffed, as mes Cholesterol is 3.9. As bin as high as 4.4 in recent times. But still I is on the Statins. Thinks it is more to do with diet and burger eaters than me. Back to see quack later next week to get it sorted.
3 Still on the other happy pills though.
2 Days to go before Santa jumps down Chimney Pot and finally delvers the train set.
1 Just when you thought it was safe to go out, another amber warning comes in from the Met Office. Yes, you got the hurricane wrong did you not.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. This year, yet again, I have to take three days off because of New Years day Bank Holiday. OK for jocks, and school teachers, but this is 10% of my entitlement, for a stupid media induced, commercial event. Another excuse for the emporiums to extract money from the needy. Time to get rid of it and replace with a Bank Holiday in June. How about one on the Queen’s Birthday weekend? Or are bank holidays an excuse for the travel industry to make money.
& Stop Press on Raffles. Is known to fly from Utility sink to top of Furnace. Top of Furnace 1 foot from ceiling! He knows where it is warm!!
Right I am off now, to have my claw sandwiches and toasted fox crisps.0 -
BOP. A Bank holiday from 1871 isn't really media induced is it?
I do admire your irony in suggesting that a holiday that fleeces the poor be replaced by one celebrating HM.
My pleasures for the day.
1 stumbling across this forum while looking for debt management solutions.
2 contacting step change.
3 walk with the dog in the wind and rain
4 no work today
5 wrapping presents with kids
Merry christmas.0 -
Wow, NPJC Welcommen to the forum. Have some hair for your chest.
Just to be pendantic, New Years day introduced 1974 in England.
It is the three days holiday that is wasted by most every year at this time, rather than a warm weekend in June! Just to be absolutely pendantic!0 -
BoP - Lorne isn't 'proper' but it is delicious! Wing a Spitfire for me?! Hope train set arrives & Raffles doesn't derail it!
Broomstick - tree up? Well done - mine's still in a heap awaiting inspiration. Thank you for the Time Team heads up!
Sparrer - the upside of this fever is I'm warm, but have to wear two fleeces to stay that way. Filling buckets is a seriously kindly act - you really find out who your friends are! Must try to get our lanterns found & lit.
VJsmum - Portmerion is an amazing place (been there on a Prisoner convention) - what an amazing place for a family break & memorable! Snow White a *dire* role model.

Kittikins - hoping you gave a splendid family Christmas - be gentle with brother, he's a bloke... Muppet Christmas Carol part of our celebrations!
Frith - hurrah getting boys to do chores & playing D&D - just so glad you survived skid & wouldn't it be great if we *could* listen to the Archers on a Nimbus?!
Bagpuss - sounds like a wonderful family outing, loving and being loved vital!
Ampersand - bien trouvee but now quandary what to do with an Irvin clone - repair & bay or set to with shears & line scabbard... Christingle and 9 lessons & carols? Stunning! "Their Generation" - wonderful reading - thank you!
Tealady - good to hear traditions at work, patisserie up to standard & letter from OH boss in full retreat!
Mhagster - glad to hear you're acclimatising to the time & just about the weather! Dentist? Makes sense, but eeek!
CCP - here's hoping sis passes the test & is allowed home, & that her medics figure Why. Keep the carols playing!
Lovefullshelves - these hats are getting livelier as you do! Single sprout idea has me welling up - you know he'd laugh were he with you. All the best.
not pedantic - welcome! You've found the right site for debt management solutions - now allow yourself to enjoy Christmas?!
My OS Pleasures
Watched the Puissance on iPlayer - amazing even if commentators have changed.
"The wire spears & the pigs are on their way" - some of our Christmas orders are a little bit odd.
Happy chirps as long staple flax is glued to green scrubbing pads to make model Saxon roofs...
Long queues in & out of supermarket, but last shop done. Scout band giving trad carols plenty - loud but happy!
Harvey! Aw! Husband & I are utterly soft on this puka movie - & it's why we've a James...
Big hugs to all who need them, health snorkers & wrapping paper likewise & if anyone can, please, why does cellophane exist?!0 -

My apologies. I was referring to its introduction as a public holiday in the original Act.
I will not bound over my steps again and will remember my place.
I rather enjoy NYD as a day off after celebrating surviving another year with one too many woobleades.0 -

Thanks BOP. Not used commercial outfit. Charity called step change. No fees. Looks like they make some money by me paying on 1st and they pay creditors later.
Have done a budget with them, downloaded and sent standard letters to creditors.
According to their estimate should be debt free in 6 years. Horrah.
Ps I was rather idiotic choosing this name. Is it possible to change it or do I haveto sscrap and start again?0 -
