    Evening

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Brochure for local theatre in post so had a browse with DD and planning what we would like to see. So much cheaper than the West End and much easier to get to.
    2. Lunch with friend in a new Japanese Restaurant, very yummy but think prefer the slightly mad noodle bar we usually go to.
    3. Cooked meatballs and pasta for dinner and prepared the veg and pots ready for dinner tomorrow.
    4. DD passed her exam at college :j, it was a resit but on first attempt she was having a bad dyslexic day so on the resit they gave her a reader and scribe which made a huge difference.

Hugs to all who need them

    Not a bad day here.

    1) Sons had a good day at school. Smaller son said K gets kicked "all the time" and I felt quite sad after he said "They kick K and tell him to go away. After a while he goes back to play with them. I tell him not to but he does and they kick him again". :-( Anyway, he is going to ask K if he wants to go in the base with him and play Monopoly one lunchtime, rather than being kicked on the playground.

    2) Took the car to Renault. Was very worried about it (actually felt quite sick as I left it in case I could not afford to get it repaired). Eventually got a phone call that the £74 per hour diagnostic machine said the engine was perfect! They had then all had a poke about and found the cutting out was caused by one perished hose. So they replaced it for free and also gave the car a wash for me!

    3) While the car was being fixed, went into town with a friend from college and her 2 youngest.

    4) Charity shops - got a fleece jumper for sons and a hat for me.

    5) Got brother's Christmas present from TKMaxx - a kettle to go on his wood burning stove. It's very flash!

    6) Big tea - gammon, roast potatoes, squash (grown by brother) and some kale.

    7) Brother here for tea and he helped bigger son with his maths homework.

    8) Thank you to Broomstick for the veg box code. It came this morning with pears, apples, carrots, potatoes, a pepper, mushrooms and some crab apples. And a lovely cookery book!

    1. Went on my first school trip as a teacher :)

    2. Taught some children a new card game, and was taught another in return!

    3. One of the lovely, if rather quiet, girls in my class, has been raving about me to her mummy - said mummy came up and introduced herself to me and told me how wonderful I am, lol :)

    4. More yummy leftover school dinner - the same massive dish (kept covered in the fridge!) has been feeding a few of us. I don't eat school dinners at this school as I would have to pay for them, but at my old placement school, they were gourmet delights - and free for staff, nomnom.

    5. Actually.......more school dinner delights - the cook brought in a big dish of roast potatoes :) Certainly livened up the staffroom!!

    6. My poorly mummy is a bit better today, here's hoping tomorrow and the next day will see her right.

    7. DD was still awake when I came upstairs! :):)

Sad news though: My old church sent the email I was dreading: A lovely friend has lost her battle with cancer :( I was hoping and praying that she would get better.....She will leave a big hole in mine and many lives, RIP J xx

    Evening all.

Been in a lurgy-ish state for the last two days, feeling (not being) sick, hence not getting round to posting. DS1 is on his way back home on the coach and says he's feeling poorly in a similar way and not to bother to heat him up any late supper. :( Heigh ho, the bug only seems to last two days which is good.

Five x 2 pleasures for Monday and Tuesday then:

    1. Catching up on posts here - it takes ages because there's so much good stuff to read. That Haka was really powerful, Ampersand; and the photos and stories were too McCulloch. It is so important that the stories of individual people are heard, which reminds me that I forgot to say thank you BoP for posting a while back a link to the Last Post Association http://www.lastpost.be/ which talked about the 30,000th sounding of the last post at the Menin Gate next year and the production of a book of stories and photos. One of my relatives is named on the Gate and one day I'll go and visit.

    2. Thanks to Martin's reminder, I discovered a £3 Mr T voucher that I didn't know I had.

    3. Got another voucher for £4 from the Co-op.

    4. Thanks to the people who took veg box vouchers, I got extra presents of organic jam and chocolate etc with my order this week. :T

    5. Took delivery of a new wicker laundry basket. My old one had died and I'd been limping along improvising (eg bin bags) for much of this year. In fact a new basket has been on my 'wants' list since January! This new one is lovely and sturdy.

    6. Using it - lots of times - got lots more washing done and mostly dried. The weather this afternoon was lovely.

    7. Watching the Tudor Farm on iplayer. We've visited the Weald and Downland Museum lots over the years and I think I enjoyed seeing the place more than the programme itself iykwim. The best bit of the tudor bit of the programme was seeing the clever trick in how to make a paintbrush from a feather.

    8. Hearing how DS2 coped with some truly awful behaviour from one of the children in the class he was teaching today. He managed so well (as the sole adult present) and I was very impressed.

    9. Doing a sudoku for the first time in ages.

    10. Had a brainwave about a book to get my mum for X**s. I checked with my dad and he's sure she's not read it. It's on Kindle which is the only way she's able to read nowadays. It's fantastic how new technology is making things possible for my elderly parents. In the pre-ebook days she'd have stopped reading but now she can enlarge the text to suit. Fantastic.

Sweet dreams and (((hugs))) to all who need one,
    B x

    2. caring phone calls from friends
    3. nsd/npd
    4. dust piling up nicely to make it worthwhile doing when I get to it
    5. nothing lasts for ever

Hugs to all, sweet dreams :)

I have not done particularly much today but will try and find some pleasure.

Chatty chats this morning with mum, sister , 2 best friends from home.

New digital aerial put up by a rather dishy young man....paid for by landlords....we thought it was normal that telly went off when it rained as that's what it's done since we've been here....apparently it's not normal!

Wandered as far as library today and borrowed another couple of books.

Roasted parsnips, potatoes ( taken from freezer ) 50c pumpkin , turnip, carrots and beet root from my bargain bag yesterday . Served with rtc chicken breasts stuffed with cream cheese, spring onions and Parmesan.
    Quite nice.

We have Internet! Not the fastest ( not the happiest OH) but hey! It's internet!

So I'm going to go and watch Holby...just because I can!
Hoping to wake up rather more motivated tomorrow!

Hope you're soon feeling better sparrer dizziness is horrid. I did my dusting today ....but didn't do much else!

Oh! I did some shredding and found the receipt I'd been looking for. DD2s phone isn't working and I had sat the receipt out then it went missing! It was in the pile for shredding! So that's another pleasure.

    Have a lovely day :)
  • I note there are talks about me words and grumbling on here. You are no supposed to understand them. You read, digest and sittle down with a cup of tea. Then days later you realise and jump back.

Got it. Sinch really, like a peace of salt.

Alas for the gate at Menin. It was to list all those who fell.
Oh bullocks, I as off again. Well was a frozen windscreen, though the crack did not get any worse.

    Now for the pleasures

5 National Curry day, and whatever else day, month, year it is. Mine will be chicken in tomato sauce again. With rice and curly fries. No fruit salad on Thursdays now.

4 Cracking news about the mayor of Toronto! Why can’t we have him and that banana republica presidenta from Venezuela. All night parties and free electrical stores. Real MSE that!

3 Ms BoP has spoke. We are not going to get some old kitty. So that is that. No, she wants three. I has to select them tough.

2 Seems to be a lot of cracks around my posts today, and this week. In fact I get a cracking idea going. Now all I need is one of Chickens eggs!

1 Salt melts away the ice.

But why is it worth their salt. The centurion was rewarded his salt. The windscreen ice melted. The Menin gate is in Ypres. All comes clear as we squirt water and wash the wipers.
  • Good evening all !

BoP- you can have anything you like from me my luverrly:D You might need to give the hens a bit of a squeeze though as they are not laying that many eggs at the moment .

Sparrer - get well now please xx

    5 for today

    1. Work ok

    2. My cousin had given my DM a box of chocs to give to me for helping her daughter fill out a vile form. No need to buy me anything for this - she's family .

    3. Terrier gave me all of her toys when I got in from work.

    4.Paella for tea.

    5 Day off tomorrow :T

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
