mhags - how well I know the infuriatingness of that! As a kiwi, my lunettes re:Oz are def. not rose-tinted:-) After times like yesterday for sth else, when it just wiped itself out 3x, I just have to select all, copy with every added sentence. Getting the - 'Oops!Google seems to have crashed' msg box is NOT helpful.

Son McC - Mighty Congratulations! Any young person who wins through as you have done to gain that job has already proved himself. From strength to strength now - Very well done[and to Mum!]

sparrer - glad your computer is back on form. But you are not - a bit of finger-wagging I think. I'm sorry it's all pulled you up unexpectedly. but please just ease up a bit, at least until weather does the same.

    1. Was told to jump the 'back to Dr' queue yesterday, had barely time to sort day and be in time, mid-morning. Like you sparrer, v.glad I did. Heavy duty sth to try, with lung x-rays now. Must do Spits this week.
    2. L. carried on to finish corolux corner and I do like it. Screen trellis back up too, for grape vine's 2013 growth - when it happens. Just need guttering/ downpipe bits now - I'll sort that today. It was good to come back last night and see it, even better this morning. It's the friendly undercover workspace I hoped for and can be extended to outer wall of Big Shed - when it is born.
    3. College hair appt - always a good-to-let-go couple of hours and time ripped by with Clare Balding amid laughter and, twice, tears, also real admiration. Find myself thinking that her real happiness and partnership now with Alice Arnold mean deep contentment long overdue. I have 3 peeps in mind for whom I must obtain this book.
    4. Silversmithing last night - suddenly, all went really well, with sand-edging, rolling, planishing and a clear design path. Next Mon, I'll solder the & to its hammered 'parchment', then drill tiny holes to secure noble coral , some volcanic milk/turquoise 'glass' and a small swivelling matt bronze 'planet', with gold wire, maybe another in black/red/yellow striated agate. I think I'm liking how it may be, but thoughts are fluid as one works and sees annealing altering colour/property. I definitely will want to save for the next course and again, how lucky we are to have Rebecca as Tutor. She has had 2 more big commissions this week - Boris Johnson and Christies!
    5. Porridge now. Really looking forward to it.

kittikins - any point in doing an off the wall letter and saying 'I want to come and see you again. This means everything to me'?

Kittikins - (((Hugs))) sorry you didn't get the interview but don't give up your dream as you sound like you would make an amazing teacher.

Kittikins - I'm really sorry to hear about the uni decision. Did you get any feedback from either application that explained why they made the decision they did? I'm just wondering if it's something really minor that you could fix and then try again.
Back after a very long break!

Kittikins - sometimes I have had to accept that I was not fated to get that job. I also believe that things happen for a reason. You don;t see that reasoning at that time, but somewhere later along the line if you are meant to find out why you will. Then you have an ah-ha moment and say thats why I didn't get that job!!

    1. Took the books and videos into the CS and had a chat with my friend whilst in there (she works there P/T)

    2. Went through my boots and shoes this morning and checked for signs of wear and tear. Pair of boots and pair of shoes for the cobblers.

    3. Polished up my shoes and boots - kitchen smells lovely of the shoe polish too.

    4. Chat on the phone this morning with a friend in Wales - enjoyed that.

    5. Cappucino whilst reading the Daily Mail online and having five minutes with you all in here x

So all gunged up here on pirate ship.

Oh and KK. Try the next door with the battering ram.

(((Hugs))) Kittikins. I agree with R-D, there's always a reason for these things which will manifest itself when you're least expecting it. There's something much better out there, can't wait to see what's in store for you :)

mhags the flowers were from various friends I went to dinner with on Sunday to celebrate my 8th sobriety anniversary. It was really just a good excuse to have a yummy carvery and not have to wash up. The pavlova was a total disaster though, a shop bought meringue, some tinned raspberries and runny cream - we could show 'em how to do it properly :p

Oh ampersand, a classic case of pot/kettle ;). I'm sitting doing nothing this afternoon, willing the ridiculously high BP to go down. It's always been on the low side of normal, suddenly it's rocketed for no reason. Are you resting??

caroline well done on getting the ISA done :D

Siesta time (resting with feet up and a fleece to snuggle under), back later :)

Sadly, Uni 2 was pretty much my last hope as, for location/ financial/ DD-related etc etc reasons, I can't apply anywhere else :( Uni 1 rejected me after interview, highlighting on a pre-printed sheet that I didn't have enough school experience and didn't critically analyse lessons well enough - which is crazy as I spoke in my interview about 4 schools in which I have either a week or up to 2.5 years' worth of voluntary experience (just once a week for the last one!) and maybe my critical assessment wasn't perfect, but surely that's one of the things you fine-tune as you learn how to teach?!? So, short of giving up my job and trying to find a paid TA job (lots of opportunities to volunteer but I now work school hours in a secondary school! and paid TA jobs are like hens' teeth), I think its over for now.

Oh well, at least I have a kitchen in a house I can no longer afford to run, lol.

Burger it! Have had a really hectic day at work, with lots of little things going wrong, can't talk to any of them there as noone knows about my application, and OH sent an "idiotically random" text, in which he was first lovely and then absolutely stupid and of course the stupid bit was very pathetic so I replied with my bit in speech marks, so I reckon we're both annoyed with each other at the moment!

sparrer-KETTLE CALLING POT, KETTLE CALLING POT - ARE YOU RECEIVING? Am I resting? Nearly! Just back from urgent lunettes repair in Nmkt. Drove[said defiantly and non-ms'ily.] Not enough daylight, esp. to-gloomy-day, to lose 3 hrs of it on bus. Feel v.v.v.resty. do nothing-y otherwise. So I am. Back to Clare Balding and other reading now. Think I'll put nightie on. Look how late it is!
Hope you're following this splendid example.
