leg 1 of 2. get in car and drive down M8.
leg 2 of 2. park car and get on plane.
im sorry geordie, but thats no real alternative to driving, especially if you have luggage with you.
share a smelly train with others, then get soaked walking from queen street to central, share another smelly train from another smelly station to an even smellier station hope you dont get robbed in paisley then get on a stinking bus to the airport.
too much like hard work to save a few quid, and i doubt that would be any quicker than driving. its more like a top gear challenge than a start to a holiday.
Bit harsh on the public transport- you've clearly had some horrible experiences on it! I take public transport all the time- mainly cause I want to have a pint after the football or wouldn't pay parking at the airport and the trains and some buses are good in the central belt but at certain times I'd agree about driving.
I have to say driving the M8 to get somewhere at a certain time can be frankly horrible and miserable. I hated driving through the dark in the traffic to be in Edinburgh for work and relaxing on the train would have been a lot better if I didn't need my car later in the day!
I depends how much luggage you have, but the train can be good, and of course you don't need to walk between the stations as there is a bus you can jump on outside to stay dry. I took public transport to the airport 2 weeks ago going down south and I have to say the buses were on time and everything went well. It depends what suits your needs- it cost me £2 or so which is better than getting held up for parking or worse a moaning faced cabbie skinning you :rotfl:.
As for getting robbed in Paisley don't kid yourself- Edinburgh is the place where they like to rob folk with luggage!0 -

Better be careful when you get to the airport then as Glasgow Airport is actually in..... wait for it..... Paisley!!!
The town gets a bad rep, somewhat undeservedly, it's no worse than any other large town/city.
For info the bus leaves directly outside the station to the airport.
Agree with the previous comment re the airport rail link. If it were up and running it would be a no brainer to use the train but 'cos it costs a few quid to construct, the government are forcing us back into our cars.
Hope the good folk of Edinburgh enjoy their new (very expensive)trams!0 -
How did you get on with this then?one of the famous 50
