  • Can I please just say get in touch with a domestic abuse charity and get their help because noone should live like that. I can say this as I was in a terrible relationship where I was controlled and needed the help of one such charity. I now have a new life with a lovely fiance and can't believe I put up with it for so long. But, I do understand that your situation is difficult and it is scary to even think about leaving, but if you can get help to do it, it's like a weight ahs been lifted. If you need to have a chat honey please pm me, Tiger xx

Most home routers do not have much in the way of logging. For example the Netgear basic routers dont seem to log anytihng more than when a connection is established etc. I'd imagine more commercial routers hold more substantial logs but more home ones are probably pretty thin on the ground in that respect. Worth maybe seeing what router the OP has and the advising what info could actually be read off it.

The portable apps version could be quite good as you can leave your 'normal' browsing history on the normal browser then user the portable browser to look at stuff to help you.

    Stay safe anyway,

No good if he has installed a keylogger, or application to take screenshots.

Many home routers can also run custom firmware. As he is a systems developer it would not be beyond his technical abilities to use custom firmware if the average home user can do it in five minutes.

I know people are just trying to help, but I am just repeating myself so I will bow out now.

Do you have to use his PC? I would go to the local library or internet cafe. If things are bad as you say, then it may be nice to get out of the house?

    Hi mummy26!hello.gif
Please listen to the lovely techies hunnie and get professional help.action-smiley-033.gif
I'm really pleased that you are making plans to escape this relationship - I'm glad all the alarm bells are ringing for you.
At some point, there may be one slip up, one message not erased and this might end up being helpful to your techie husband to find out where you've gone and how you got there once you are ready to leave him.

MSE wendy has posted a helpful guide on another board which may help you...
icon1.gifFree guide from Refuge for women experiencing domestic violence
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1276963

And here is the link to the site at Citizens Advice Bureau...
    http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/family_parent/family.htm

I kinow you posted asking for techie help hunnie, but imho, you need to go to an agency like CAB who can make all your arrangements for/with you, including finding you somewhere to go, help with finances and supporting you during a sympathetic interview probably at the CAB offices with one of your local domestic violence police officers; the police can hopefully escort you to your home to collect important belongings.

CAB are the professionals in a wide variety of areas, angel and they've done this many times before. I went to them early in the morning and by mid-afternoon, my son and I were in a safe shelter. The police even gave me a special mobile phone to use for a few days which would connect me straight to them if I needed help urgently. I couldn't call anyone else on it but it was a great safety device. Great piece of techie help when I needed it.action-smiley-033.gif

Hmmm, I wonder if there are any other safety ideas from our techie friends?

I will also delete my post once you have finished with this thread. Apologies to our techie friends for my wandering off topic - I didn't mean to hijack your board guys.:o

It's so easy for plans to become convoluted and confused and I know just how hard this is for you. You need proper help and support hun.
If the alarm bells are ringing as loud as they seem to be angel, then you need to stop making plans and make your escape instead.
    Good luck. sLo_hug2.gif
    Much Love,
