Ive just had a look and if your using firefox 3.5.3 and go to tools the private browsing you can browse without any info being kept eg cookies etc but im not sure if it works 100%0

Even if you use something like Live CD you can still log whats going on on the router for example.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

Use private browsing in IE or Firefox and then also run CCleaner after you've finished. He'd have to be a good techie to pick out and set details in the router, a standard user wouldn't have a clue.
FF - Tools > Start Private Browsing in Firefox
IE - Tools > InPrivate Browsing in IE
You could also download the Portable Apps suite, or just the portable versions for Firefox, chat clients etc and run from a USB stick, these leave nothing behind. Read and check the details first.
Also run anti-spyware like Spybot S+D to check if he's installed anything rouge like a keylogger (again unlikely unless he knows computers well.)0 -
Have you run a virus scanner he might be useing a keylogger to see everything you type and to who. it means he will know your passwords and everything.
How techy is the guy. cause the Virus scanner you have installed might be set to ignore that particular file and virus.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
thanks for that, i use firefox which he has installed in the laptop and what frightens me the most is he works in IT (systems dveloper) i have reason to worry? at the moment i use cc cleaner after each use will that be sufficient andd also how can i tell whether hes installed software to spy on what i do?0

M26 - I'd go and change the details in your first post regarding your plans for a start. If he clicks on this in the future he could see it. and don't write anything like it in future.
I'll delete this once you have done it.
Be very vague online; it really will help0 -
just to add is there anyway you could use say a public computer (libraries usually have them for free) instead? that would help minimize the chances of him seeing anything. if not hopefully deleting history and using a virus checker should help.
also if you're looking at a site and you hear/see him come in if you hit alt and f4 together it closes the window you're looking atThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
