I eat them as they are, or make a fig compote to go with cheese or cold meats. Alternatively I serve them as a starter with goat's cheese and honey - this is really scrummy served with crusty bread:

Cut a fourway cross in the top of the figs and sit in a small ovenproof dish. If figs are large just use one per person but if they are small, use two each. Crumble (or slice) some goats cheese into the top of the figs, then drizzle with runny honey over the top and around the sides (I use Acacia honey but it's just as nice with heather or ordinary honey) Bake in the oven at about 200 degrees for 8-10 minutes. It all melts together and is gorgeous, just dip your bread in and enjoy :)
You could follow the instructions above and don't use cheese, but mix cinnamon with the honey, drizzle then roast as above mmmmmmmm

Yep, I should have added that to my post :)

Can't believe 49p a kg for onions is considered a good deal these days and those snack packs of grapes are an awful deal - it used to be 69p for a full box. Humpf

The snack packs of grapes were 79p yesterday so 49p is good.
Yes fruit was cheaper but those days are gone.
The nets of 4 onions - 69p at moment on SS are a good deal - work out about 25p lb.
