Ooh figs <3 I will be calling in for those at the weekend, and sweet potato and peppers. The boy WILL eat some fresh food.

Just a warning - I got some figs earlier in the week from aldi, and they are horribly dry inside. Hopefully the Super 6 ones will be better, just thought I'd mentioned it before anyone stocks up, or tries them for the first time and is put off...they're not always like that!

I'm a fig newbie, should the inside be a bit like a passion fruit?

Pips much smaller and I'd say the inside is firmer, would hold shape rather than passion fruit which is much more liquid with coarser pips.

Love figs, never saw any when i went in yesterday :(

Good super 6 for me except for the figs. We've got a fig tree in the garden full of ripe figs.

... And we don't live anywhere warm or exotic - North Yorkshire!!!

The figs I got yesterday were really fresh and juicy so had a few just as they were. Also have some at the minute caramelising in a vinegar/ sugar mixture to have later with some cheese ( a Diana Henry recipe). Haven't tried it before but have had a wee taste and it's very nice.

ooh, I love figs! Must visit Aldi asap. I've been buying them in Waitrose this week as they are on half price (at £1.49) for a pack of 4 but this sounds a much better price. Hopefully the figs will be as nice!

I eat them as they are, or make a fig compote to go with cheese or cold meats. Alternatively I serve them as a starter with goat's cheese and honey - this is really scrummy served with crusty bread:

Cut a fourway cross in the top of the figs and sit in a small ovenproof dish. If figs are large just use one per person but if they are small, use two each. Crumble (or slice) some goats cheese into the top of the figs, then drizzle with runny honey over the top and around the sides (I use Acacia honey but it's just as nice with heather or ordinary honey) Bake in the oven at about 200 degrees for 8-10 minutes. It all melts together and is gorgeous, just dip your bread in and enjoy :)
