Bit silly to link to an article saying "as much as 25k" isnt it, when you have said you got 40 and everyone lived happily ever after.0 -

Yes but Graham if you read the other thread someone talks about their brother getting 70 odd k - I guess the amount they give depends on the amount of the mortgage.
It's not fair but it looks like it's true. God I wish I could just shave 40k off my mortgage! I wish I'd got a tracker instead of a fixed rate. I wish I wish I wish but hey if I was him I'd be pretty happy too. He is a bit gloaty but there's more than one on here who likes a gloat now and again.0 -
Good for you spurs !!
Wow, you've really upset the bears this evening. They are all crawling out from under their respective rocks too shout "Yah ! Boo !"

i've heard this story a couple of times now and both were mortgage express customers on their magical 0.34% BOE trackers.
it does make business sense for the lender - get a customer off such a low rate and push them somewhere else. that £40k could be a cheaper alternative!!
In reality its the mortgage lenders, who have now departed the market, tidying up their portfolios ready for sale. Most of the Advantage customers (Morgan Stanley) were introduced through mortgage brokers. Its fair to say that these customers wouldn't have obtained mortgages through main stream lenders due to credit impairment etc.
So to sell the mortgage portfolios on, they need to rid themselves of their "worst" customers. Hence the large inducements. One thing is for sure despite their reduced mortgages these borrowers will still pay a premium rate to borrow. As many still won't meet current lending criteria.
So unfortunately Mr C it doesn't appear that you'll qualify.0 -
