I've heard that many homeowners give 17% more to charity than your average renter. And they are better lovers - the security allows them to relax more and 'concentrate on the job in hand'.
Yes the security. Of actually having your own front door and being able to shut it at night. I don't know how these renter types with their open plan communal style living manage with people just passing through their dwellings at any time of day and night. I believe though there was a post on here about renters being given 100k by the government to buy their own house, apparently it cuts down on crime.

    I love this thread!

People actually beleive they own the property they live in, if someone was to remind them that it's all owned by the Crown and they rent too, by paying tax.

If they dont pay the tax, the state can easily take away their estate.

    In England EVERYONE rents.

House owners are a bit more trustworthy in their postings, and I believe an inch or so taller on average than a renter. Comes from not living in damp conditions I think.

OK..I confess to the board...I have 2 different personality types going on in my life at the mo.

Renter; for example; resis are up in arms about a development at the marina....going crazeee about it. I get petitions and council planning stuff to sign etc. You know what? I think the marina plan is quite a good plan (as it's totally rubbish as it is now) and the towers? Well, they would pop up mid sea view panorama...but we have binoculars and an interruption to the sea scape view isn't such a bad thing.

I have other very bad habits as a renter.:o Really bad and I was a LL for 3 yrs too.

Owner; I go absolutely crazee to any development in our SE London suburb....I mean, I would rather an ancient castle (sort of at the bottom of my garden) goes derelict (it nearly is now) than let a local tycoon buy it from the council and deprive us of our local (very worthy) monument....unless I could afford the lease on it that is.

As an owner, I will confess to being a bit OCD about certain things...like parking outside my house by out of area mums doing pick up/drop off ....OMG..my stress levels go through the roof at that.....irrrationaly so.

Maybe it makes them better in hand, but the complacency may have left them with only a hand?

TBF, have experienced home owners and non homeowners and I think its not owning and renting that makes a difference but the size ...of home.

Absolutely agree with this. The area bordering my property, including the road and at least half of the neighbouring gardens, plus the behaviour of anyone within a mile 'exclusion' area is subject to my attention.

In fact, I am writing about it and thinking of all different ways that I behave as renter/owner...I didn't ever think about it before either.
    It's embarrasing actually.

OK...Confession to The Board no2. I have illegal cats (as a tenant) and a very illegal catflap.

I don't really care who my neighbours are here in Renting land...someone new has moved into next door after the death of my lovely witch neighbour..and I haven't even popped round to say Hallo (:D).

House I own...man I would be round there like a shot to check out my new neighbour.

No, I think moron was correct. I would maybe use 'financially ignorant' to describe someone who didn't have a grasp of basic finances, but was polite and pleasant. This person clearly has no economic clue and is quite rude as well. Thus, a moron.

    Whoo !! Hoo !!

    Bear baiting is such fun....

    ... and so easy !!

Must dash - I'm off out to wait for the next price crash. See you in 15 years !!!!

O M G...That's true too. OH is all virile and masterful in when we are in the house we 'own' (along with the Crown or whatever) yet wimpy in rental....could be the cold here mind...but could be other deep, subconscious stuff going on too.....like master of his own universe type of thing.

Our new hedge fund neighbu is attmpting to liv part of my dream: self build. The farmhouse is to become his guest cottage.. The guest cottage is to become his staff cottage:rolleyes:

Its interesting to see how people are reacting differently. The longer term inhabitnts in view are renter in farm cottages, and couldn't give a damn about house but are worried bout their jobs. DH and I are interested and decidedly envious....another house in view is ...undecided:want to be outraged, are aware this might be new ''chum'' don't want to rock a better appointed boat. then there is outright outrage from farming family who sold the farm house.
