Apologies Amanda! I read the thread wrong.
When my son was younger, we had input from the Family Advisory Support Team at our local Council/Social Services.
You can self refer to them - they might be able to help your case.0 -
DLA isnt as simple as a GPs letter and it will take months to get an award, 12 weeks is the target but many people wait much longer than that.
Filling in the form is an ardious task and it would be best to consult CAB or a WA for help with them, it will be hard to see down on paper your sons problems laid bare but its important that you manage to give the DM as much information as possible, the DM can contact your GP but there is no gauretee of this so put the letter in with the claim forms, you should also ask his school and ed physcologistfor supporting evidence, is he statemented?
My daughter was very like your son and she was awarded DLA of high rate care and low rate mobility, so it is possible to have an award that would allow your husband to be his carer but for now all you can do is order the forms and collect evidence to support your claim and hopefully his claim will looked at ASAP.
I agree with the previous poster who said you need to contact social services now to help you cope, a SW may also help his DLA claim. You need to look after yourself, have you spoken to your GP about how you are feeling and asked what help they can give you?
