    I HATE Halloween night.

I'm the same as you. If I bother and get something in, no fooker knocks, but if I don't, then I get people knocking all night!

And I hate it when you open the door and it's a gang of teens on the scrounge and not even dressed up!!

I think this year I'll ignore the door!

I just get the Fun-size mars/twix/milky-way etc etc which are on special offer .

The kids that call get one of those each. No one has ever asked me for money, and would get a flea in their ear if they did.

TBh we only answer the door to them at all cos we have DS (age 10), who doesn't go T or T'ing himself, but likes to see his school comrades making idiots of themselves.

By about 8 p.m. we have normally had enough. I always put a note on the door then, which says "No trick or treating please, Baby asleep".

It's worked every year since DS WAS a baby.:D
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)
  • I hate halloween too.

I had bought some BTHP funsize chocs from morrissons, but I've eaten the lot already! Oops.

I think I might not bother opening the door, but I don't like running the risk of having eggs thrown at my door :(

My aunty said 'trick' one year and they washed her windows in soapy water.

I would just stick to buying some sweets or chocolate. Can't you save any left overs for Christmas? Or do you not have the willpower like me? :)

She'll never fit Saint Jamie in her fridge for Xmas if she did that.

obviously in negative figures on the willpower front. The diet must be very important to her if she's lost a whole 9.5lbs in 5 months! ;)

  • It's become a bit of an 'event' around here with the streets teeming with primary age children, sometimes with adults, or older siblings, and with more and more people decorating thier houses too, it's really quite the festival.

It has become a fun, social activity, but you do need plenty of treats. I buy the big bags of lollies and chews, from wherever is doing them the cheapest. I only ever offer these, never money.

It's very rare for teens to go out, but I would only ever offer the sweets to them anyway and only if they are dressed up.

There does seem to be an ettiquette to it, with it starting at dusk, and finishing no later than 8pm.

Nothing! 'cos I'm a mean old witch and think it is organised begging :D .
I agree. Luckily we dont get them here as we live in a secured access building. I would be mortified at the thought of my own children doing this as no matter how hard up we might be, I dont agree with begging or stealing and the ensuing implication that my children would have to beg would be far too embarassing. This is an American tradition with nothing to do with the origins of Samhain/Halloween/All Hallows Eve. It is possible to have a lot of fun at this time of year - personally it is my favourite - without organised begging and (often malicious)practical jokes.

  • I usually have hanging baskets outside the front door. Last year at Halloween I put my carved pumpkins there with candles inside. They looked brilliant.......someone stole them about 10pm  :rotfl:

    Nothing.

If I'm well enough, Mr LW and I will be at the Samhain bash at our favourite pub.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
