DaveF327 found this and I think it needs more prominence for discussion. Basically it says they will tow you if you fail to pay (presumably a parking charge invoice) and then later enter one of their sites. Plus other drivel.

http://www.national-clamps.com/index.php?section=ignoreopsion

Edit: also noticed these two conflicting pages:
http://www.national-clamps.com/news.php?xr=21 - this pages claims they DON"T use tow trucks
"Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to fight back against such companies and it is down to ethical clampers such as National Clamps to build and maintain a positive reputation based on the values of honour, trust, reliability, punctuality, and a value for money service. National Clamps do not operate tow trucks and only sub-contract as a last resort.

Whilst at http://www.national-clamps.com/index.php?section=ignoreopsion - tow trucks appear
"In the meantime your registration number is recorded and should you enter any one of our sites in the meantime your vehicle will be towed and impounded until debt satisfaction."

Can they be trusted? Draw your own conclusions.

I wonder what the BPA would say about that illegal tactic?

    Oh, yes. Nothing.

Would be interesting to see what happens if they DO tow a vehicle, especially if it's had a change of keeper (or even driver!).

No doubt the police would say it's a civil dispute.

Having had a few moments to think about this - surely this is a tacit admission that they are not able to enforce a charge invoice in the face of refusal to pay. In the face of inability to extract their demands legally, they resort to illegal tactics and bullying.

Maybe their "graduate management" never took philosophy.

That's what I was worried about. I had a feeling the law would be on my side should such a thing happen, but what comfort is that if you find your car gone? Has this ever happened to anybody? Has anyone any experience of making the police intervene in a criminal matter when they've tried to call it a civil one?

Their site does not seem that professionally written, noting their spelling of adviseable (sic) and even the link shows "ignoreopsion" (sic)

And yeah... I found their choice of motto rather ironic too, considering the attitude of one of their operatives who almost stung a friend of mine one night.

Only if there is a permanent intention to deprive.

    Good luck proving that.

Edit: Found this at the bottom of their website: All Vehicle Immobilisation and F.P.N issuing is carried out by Franchisees of Akenham Ltd. Interesting...

Could you not put a sign in your car (Not neccessarily in a prominent place) stating something along the lines of "If you tow my car away following non payment of a parking invoice, you are subject to a penalty of £150 with additional costs of £30 a day for loss of use, each telephone call at £30 and each letter at £30"

Play them at their own game...

It just shows the type of semi-illiterate knuckle-draggers who are attracted to this industry.
