Showing the ip address and the deafault gateway of a machine connected in the network is not dangerous! For example if your default gateway was 192.168.1.1, i could not do anything with that bit of information! Its your internet ip that you have to watch out for!
Anyway apart from that, have you tried setting up the computers to obtain an ip addresss automaticlly and see they pick one up from the router!
Thanks Tom :-)0 -

this then means that showing the ip address he had shown was his WAN IP(internet address) this can clearly be seen as PPP ADAPTER TOUCAN SURF .. if it had been his internal network address then i would not have mentioned it...
Thanks Mike ;-P0 -

Sorry about the He/She misunderstanding bit lol
unplug the speedtouch
plug the router back in..
then open up control panel and then network connections..
right click on local area connection 2
choose properties
in the white box in the middle, choose tcp/ip then choose properties. make sure in there that it is all set to obtain ip address automatically, restart the pc and see if a connection comes up.. if not do the ipconfig/all thing again...
copy it all
paste into a txt file and save it to ya desktop..
then connect back up with the speedtouch and paste the info from the txt file here...0 -

did the ip address start with 169 or 192
when you connect via the router its ok to post the ip address as that is specific to your network only..
only hide the ip when connecting via the speedtouch..
could you cannect at all to the net when connected to the router.. could you connect to the routers config page
if it started with 192 then try going to in internet explorer tools, internet options, then connections tab and make sure neva dial a connection is ticked....
then click LAN settings and make sure nothing in there is ticked..
if none of this works i would reset the router back to factory defaults, and try again, but remember ya will have to re enter ya username and password or ya adsl connection in the router config0 -
ip address started with 192
could not connect to the net or the routers config page
am using firefox not ie so is it tools, options, connection settingsand direct connection to internet is ticked is that right
have reset the router back to factory defaults with no joy but will try again0 -
