We have just got a dehumidifier, its fascinating how much water it collects...
You're telling me... mine's going to need emptying before I go to bed - I emptied it before I went to work, and I'll probably have to do it again in the morning. But I can see the difference on the windows already, and the house doesn't feel as cold.

Greenbee - how does the running cost of the dehumidifier compare with putting the heating on?
I did work this out last year, but can't remember the maths... I think the dehumidifier is 210 watts. It'll run 24/7 for about a week, then just for a few hours a day (although I'll leave it on while I'm away, and hopefully my brother will come round and empty it). It switches itself off if it fills up. The heating never really dried the place out in the same way, and although I have the thermostat set to 16, when it's on, the boiler/pump seem to be going non-stop.

Can I slice the remaining cake and freeze it? Can I freeze the slices in the tin ie put the tin in the freezer or would I need to take them out and wrap them separately? I have never needed to freeze cake before! It is vegan so there is no dairy produce in it.

Yes - I freeze all kinds of cakes, and chocolate freezes particularly well! Just wrap in clingfilm and you can take it out as and when you need it. If there is a lot left, quarters and halves can be quite handy to take out when you have visitors.

Breakfast & lunch are packed and ready to go. I'm trying a new system for storage/transport which I hope will be easier than the 2 or three tubs of various sizes I've used in the past, but I'm not quite sure of the right way to get everything in, or whether it's enough to keep me going from breakfast through till I get home at 8.15ish... I've also read a couple more sections of the sunday paper, so only 2 more left to go.

No flying done, but not much mess made either :D

Email from my boss who has finally read the letter from the physio - he's suggesting breaking my journey to Orlando in NY overnight on the way there. I'll have to find out what he expects me to do on the way home...

Hi everyone :) this week I might have a chance in being a 5 star girl :D in the caravan. Already had one complete drag out of everything, clean and put away because of the tip it was when I had the 4 kids up here. Going to the shops to find an opticians in the morning as DS1s broken his glasses in temper, then off to the beach I think.

((hugs)) all round, hope today went well for toots and good luck for kazm's OH xx
One day I might be more organised...........

    Ladies!

I need some help please ..... it was my birthday on Sunday and both my sister and some friends made me a cake. My sister got there first and her cake was HUGE (a four-layer-cemented-together-with-chocolate-fudge-and-chocolate cake) which in spite of the best efforts of six of us we still have not managed to finish. Then my friends have given me another huge chocolate cake which looks lovely (they hunted for ages for a vegan recipe for me) but I am completely caked out at the moment. I never thought I would hear myself utter those words!

I hope one of you can help!

Mmmmm chocolate cake! A slice for each of the flyladies should help you out with your glut of cake. I'm sure the other flyladies will agree that we will need no thanks for helping you out....all part of the service. ;):p:D
  • I am totally 'cream crackered'

Carpet removal update coz you are all desperate to know :p

2/3 removed to bin. The backing had either hardened or turned to very fine black powder  and it wasn't laid with gripper strips - it was stapled so they have to be removed as well :eek:

Oh well it will only be done once.

Pigpen - you must be relieved about your aunt - are you feeling any better?

We are just waiting for her to be told she hasn't got anything anywhere else at the moment but for now we are pleased things are looking positive.

Me.. erm.. I don't know.. things are slightly better, but I am just so tired.. Plus I went back to uni today and I hate it. I really really hate it and I actually wish I'd never had the bright idea to go. I've got no money and they have stopped my tax credits and my housing benefit and want me to pay those yet I am only getting £650 a month for all of us.. I can't afford to do this my mortgage is that much on its own!!! Needless to say I am rather wound up about it. Then on top of that I have seemingly been left out of the groupings for an assignment so I can't do that which means I have failed one module before I even get started on it. I just can't cope with their stupidity. It just feels like they are giving me as much BS to deal with as possible to force me to quit, normally I'd stomp on their heads but I simply don't have the energy. I missed a practical while I was unwell so have to email to be givndifferent work to do instead, though I don't see why I can't just use someone elses notes, it didn't look that complex. Now I have a practical to be in on Wednesday and that assignment has to be in on the 12th.. I missed my group so am in with another one.

I think I want them to tell me to leave so I don't have to make a decision.. but I do hate it so far.

Oh.. and they have put me in a different IT group halfway across the stuffing campus... so I have to walk miles.. and my knee and hip are hurting again.. I dislike the cold too lol.. or rather, it dislikes me!

Now you wish you'd never asked!!! Sorry..
