Freezing and Defrosting fruit?

Yeah, I've made fruit packs for the freezer before but then made them into smoothies or cooked them to make a fruit compote to go over pancakes or something, never eaten them straight from the freezer. I'll probably just buy smaller amounts and make a little fruit salad to keep in the fridge for a couple of days, or make a compote to have with plain yoghurt because that sounds delish
I'd say I'll just take whole pieces of fruit but I know from experience that I'm the kind of person who thinks it's not as appetising when it's just a plain old piece of fruit and it would end up coming back home with me :rotfl:

Just had another thought, if fruit won't freeze properly, will veg do any better? Like a little pot of carrot sticks and slices of pepper?

Hi,
On a bid to become more healthy and since WW are making fruit point free!! Making some tubs of fresh fruit up like the ones in supermarket. Spent £5 on fruit and have about 7 tubs!! Could I freeze the tubs until next week?
I have apple, kiwi, grapes, satsuma in them?
Do you think it will go all mushy?
ANy ideas? Thanks so much

You can certainly freeze fruit, I am not sure how long it will last for/whether it is as nutritious/tasty once it has been frozen though.0

Freezing makes fruit pretty mushy. Maybe use the frozen ones for smoothies?0

Im not a great fresh fruit or veg eater but my daughter bought me a blender for my birthday and i buy lots of fruit now and freeze it in portions. Every morning i put a big handful in along with some nuts, 2 sprouts, half a carrot, fruit juice and blend, put it in a big bottle and drink it through out the day.
(by the way, there is not a taste of sprout in it at all)
Lovely and Im getting my five a day, and i feel so much better for it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I have just chopped up a melon and put into two plastic lock containers along with a few grapes, there is a lot and so I wondered would it be ok to put one in the freezer? Also any other fruits eg pears, apples are they ok to chop and freeze? Thanks in advance0

Hi, I've frozen grapes before. Very yummy as a frozen treat, not too sure how they'd be defrosted though. I know those bags of 'smoothie mix' quite often have melon in, so it might be worth a go. Again, I'm not sure how good it would be defrosted, but as a frozen snack or smoothie, it would probably be pretty good.
