I took kids to see wicked 18mnths ago, boys were 7 & 9 and both loved it. Its a great show, songs are great and has a really good story. I've been to see it twice now and hoping to see again next year. I've also seen Dirty dancing, blood brothers and Oliver, but Wicked's my favourite so far. I'm desperate to see Billy Elliott and am hoping to see this and Wicked next march.

Cats - brilliant, (gutted it closed before had a chance to take my daughter)
    Miss Saigon - fantastic
Lion King - my favourite, could watch it again and again
Wicked - good, enjoyed it alot - Defying Gravity is amazing!
We Will Rock You - really good fun - paper-thin plot, but the music makes up for it and, lets face it, the music is what you go for.

    Really want to see:
    Avenue Q
War Horse (not a musical, I know)

ETA saw Hairspray yesterday - brilliant!

Ive seen Blood Brothers twice and Im booked in with OH for March in the West End to see it again (2 tickets for the price of one). Think its probably one of the best musicals Ive ever seen. OH hasnt seen it and I know its one he will enjoy (there arent many he would :))

    Blues Bros was very good
    Rocky Horror
Stomp (after half an hour I was getting twitchy though)
    Buddy was good

I'm thinking of taking the kids to Wicked (cheap tickets on lastminute.com). Has anyone seen this show or what would you recommend for kids.

    Thanks

this is a good show. But.... it depends on the ages of the kids, it is a fantasy style show and I thought it was quite long. My daughter enjoyed it (15) but I do not think my son 12 would. lots of songs that where catchy but not well known and dancing etc. I did not know the story and got a bit lost during the show!!
  • I love seeing Musicals in the West End, but can't afford to go too often. My Mum works for an upper classed supermarket and they can claim back half price on the tickets which helps with the price.
Last week we saw Oliver! with Omid Djalili (sorry if the spelling is wrong) but with the understudy for Nancy and I really enjoyed it, although being 5 rows from the front, was completely choked with the stage smoke they used almost constantly.
I have also seen Hairspray with Michael Ball and Nigel Planner - was FANTASTIC! I loved it and it was very funny.
I saw Avenue Q in September with a friend for my birthday but was a bit disappointed - I was told it was a laugh a minute musical but the laughs were a bit few and far between for a comedy.
I loved We Will Rock You with the original cast, and have seen it 3 times since with different casts, but none have wowed me like the first time I saw it.
I hated Chicago - was very flat when I saw it and didn't get into it at all. This was about 5 yrs ago.
Billy Elliot, in my opinion, is better on dvd than the musical on stage.
Wicked is FANTASTIC! I love it and am planning to see it again next year.
I would love to see Lion King and Sister Act as well.... am waiting for Mum to get the tickets through work!
