A top of the range V6 45 driven onto a forecourt will get about £650 part ex. Yours doesn't run and well be worth scrap, so why not sell the parts and forget about the £2000?

Between 8 and 10 years old and the scheme is by way of part ex. Have Nissan actually offered you £2000?

Avis started suppling Nissan Notes as Group C hire cars.

I'm going to bite my lip and say it is a nice "Around Town" car. The stereo was quite good, it went forwards and backwards, easy to get in an out of..

    Unfortunately thats where it ends....

It is noisy and extremely uncomfortable on a long journey.
After 2hrs behind the wheel, I feel about 70yrs old trying to straighten my back!

Overtaking takes a LOT of bottle, there is no guts, the gear ratios too short so you can't hold it in any gear to get past.
Economy is awful (1.4 petrol), one of the most uneconimical cars I have driven.

These cars are NOT motorways cruisers. I'm not trying to knock the car too much, my grievance is with AVIS for buying them as Group C cars (mondeo, vectra, focus etc).

After two bad experiences I complained to AVIS, the woman quite happily mentioned they receive "loads" of complaints about Nissan Notes.
For my last few Hire Cars I have refused to drive them, and will never drive one again.

If you intend going on long journeys, IMO you should reconsider.

I think AVIS have destroyed to reputation of Nissan Notes, if they are only given as Group A or B cars to be driven about town, maybe they would be well received..... giving them to people drving 500 miles a day is rubbishing any chance of a good rep.

Red paint fading ? Wax it every month or two with a decent wax such as Collinite 476. I'd recommend you do that with a brand new car of any colour because it protects the paint somewhat against light damage too - light car park dings from ignorant peoples doors, etc.

Never driven a Note so I don't know what they're like - currently own an Almera though which is what the Note technically replaced in the UK and it's fine if a bit rough around the edges (soundproofing, etc)

The 1.4 petrol engine will probably be a bit underpowered though - it has about 10bhp less than my 1.5 Almera and that's sluggish between 55 and 70 (unless you rev the nuts off it)

If you plan to buy a red car and to keep the car for 5+ years then buy an alternative colour. Red paint absorbs ultraviolet sunlight and eventually it causes the pigment to break down and fade. Most standard non-metallic colours have a lacquer coat on top which delays the onset of the effects of UV. If you really want red you would be better off buying a metallic red.

With regard to a space saver spare on a Note, it's not good, but better than no spare and a compressor and tube of gunk.

My sister has a 1.6 Note automatic and it's a very average car. A little noisy compared to a Micra, but it's a cheap alternative to a Honda Jazz. But it's unfair to compare the noise of the Note to a Group C, Vectra, Insignia, Mondeo car which are several sizes up.

Or just wax it regularly giving it good protection in combination with the clearcoat?

Agreed, which is why my gripe is against AVIS and not Nissan.

I think AVIS have done Nissan a great dis-service by placing Notes as Group C cars.

It isn't fair on the Note, because it clearly is not a Group C car.

I must admit I never took a great interest in the economy, it was a hire car and a fuel card.

What I do know is by the time I had driven 150 motorway miles, I needed to fill up.

Others of us who have had them have made similar claims of spending more time in a petrol station than with any other hire car.

Maybe the tank is small, but I am sure I put well over £35 in it each time I have filled them.

Are you saying I would get more than £2000 breaking for parts?

The dealer has said there is a spray they can cover the car with costing about £300 when it will be guaranteed protected for 3 years.

Apparently used in the aero industry.

    Is this clearcoat?

    Is it any good?
