I love the idea too - particularly the fact that to give the very last one, you really have to eat all the others! :rotfl:0

I had the very same idea yesterday while munching my way through a packet of Tesco's value shortbread!! I am going to drizzle them with white and plain chocolate, put them in a tin and my visitors will love them!Slightly bitter0 -
I often get asked to make cakes as gifts for people, so that's what I do. It isn't much, but they are always well-received and as I have a cake tin that can bake 4 smallish square cakes at a time, I'm saving money on energy! This year, I have to make 2 fruit cakes, and 2 coconut cakes - all will be made with value ingredients and shouldn't run to more than a few quid for all four.
I quite like the idea of make liebkuchen to give to people to hang on their Christmas trees too. Cookies, too, and maybe a few homemade savoury gifts like some homemade mini snack scotch eggs!
What I might do one year is create a "voucher" to give as Christmas presents. It'll be for them to come around for a cooked meal on an evening of their choice (date pre-agreed, of course) and it'll give everyone something.

The thing is that now DD wants me to make one for each of her friends because she is skint!!!
I love that idea. Do you have any instructions/recipes for this you could share? We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
I'm doing a fair bit of making this year. I've bought 3 ASDA smart price t.shirts for 75p each, I've got some felt and got the Cath Kidston Make book off the shelf. I'm going to applique racing cars onto the t.shirts for my son and his two pals. They look really effective and expensive (hello Boden) but aren't
I've also made some Christmas chickens and little Christmas trees , see the crafting for Christmas thread. I've used fabric scraps for these so they've cost nothing.
Next year I'm going to start my Christmas 2010 preparations early and think I'll enjoy the challenge, we don't have much money but we do have fun!!
