You admit there has actually been a recession?

Like a lot of people on the internet, he could just be a 15 year old having a strange old time on his Mum's computer. I don't think he is, but he could be.

I'm actually an 84 year old woman called Doris.

I'm actually an 25 year old, gorgeous, tall, blonde, slim woman with oodles of money, a country mansion (plus must not forget my holiday cottages in Cornwall, Dorset, Prague and Italy) and several brand new cars.

We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

    What exactly is your problem?

    I've never said there wasn't a recession.

    I've never said there wasn't a HPC.

And I've never said prices have recovered fully.

On average, prices are still 13% below peak. The recession is ending, but not quite over yet, and unemployment will rise for 6 to 12 months after it ends. Life is not peachy yet, but it's a lot better than it was last winter.

Things ARE getting better. Which is all I ever say.

Not for everyone and certainly not around here...house prices (asking and sold) still falling, job market worsening all the time after a slight upward turn during the summer and shops in our town centre still closing.

Yes, thats the thing about averages..... Some places are better, some are worse.

house prices (asking and sold) still falling,

Both asking and sold are rising on a natonal average.

job market worsening all the time

Yes, it's expected to keep worsening until 6 to 12 months after the recession ends. As I mentioned already.
after a slight upward turn during the summer

And another upwards turn coming for X-Mas..... Lot's of seasonal staff being hired for that.

and shops in our town centre still closing.

    No !!!!!!..... In a recession..... You don't say.

As I said Hamish...it may be improving in some areas but not all, your post was giving the impression (although I may be nitpicking) that it was improving for everyone, which is blatently not the case.

It is down to area...we started our silde later than others and will probably start our climb back to recovery later as well and at possibly a slower rate (if the previous recession is anything to go by).

As I said, the averages are just that.... It's something so obvious I never thought it needed clarifying..... Until now.

My posts state facts. Your interpretation is up to you.

The one thing we know about recessions is they rarely follow the pattern of the previous one.

Which is why so many bears have been so devastatingly wrong about their house price predictions.

Do you know, it may be me being just ever so over sensitive but that little smiley face reminds me of a male treating a female like some dumb female.

I may be pointing out the obvious (to you) but the tone of your original post to which I replied was that it was improving for everyone....when local data in a fair few areas says it is not which I was merely pointing out.

If you mean on average, put on average, not everyone can read between the lines (I generally can as I do happen to have a brain in my head) and will take what they read as gospel, something I learnt not to do in the last recession. To generalise is a dangerous thing, you may intend to mean on average but then that is the answer that is given when someone says all bikers are criminals, all people who listen to rock music are brain dead, every single parent watches Jeremy Kyle and drinks cider...when clearly they are not.

It is still rough out there for a fair few people...I am sure they would love to hear how things have improved and are improving, they are yet to see it.
