I feed 12 dogs (10 Border Collies, a lurcher and a large sight hound) and 4 cats for under £3 a day on raw meat and bones.

I fill a large chest freezer monthly from Landywoods and also have a very generous butcher for a constant supply of chicken carcusses.
A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.
  • I feed my 2 GS dogs on raw meat, bones and treats so roughly about 10 pounds a week.
  • I feed my dog Pets&home own brand kibble, as its only £20 for a huge sack it has lasted me 2 months already and just gone half way.
  • [gets out calculator]

two small dogs 6K and 7K cost 17p a day each on James Wellbeloved fish and rice.

It would be cheaper if I bought the huge sacks but I don't have dry storage for that.

Just changed to CSJ, £20 a bag, should last my 2 dogs a month.
A pilchard in tomato sauce a day (can't remember how much it costs but about 4 or 5 in a tin)

A 15kg bag of CSJ lamb & rice costs me £18 and lasts about 6/7 weeks for my 18kg springer spaniel. Think that works out at about 43 pence per day. He gets the odd veg leftovers from our dinners, and a couple of charcoal Dem Bone biscuits from CSJ which cost about £3 and again last me about 6 weeks.

I don't mind what it costs to feed him and would happily pay more if required but CSJ suits him, his tummy etc and his coat looks lovely. I have a local supplier who delivers to me for nothing or who I go to collect from, she's closer than the nearest supermarket or pet store.
  • yep, sardines are good to add to the dogs diet! I buy lidl's, they are about 35p a tin and the dog loves them!

    £17.50 for 15kgs of Autarky a month.

That feeds a 40kg rottie and 2 4kg JRTs. They don't get any wet food.

So less than 30p a day for 3 dogs :D

Anyone else recommend this? My puppy was started on PAH own brand dried puppy food by his previous home so I carried on, but I was thinking of getting him a better quality brand, until I read somewhere that its made by one of the bigger petfood companies. I think it was an older thread on this forum.

Thats just reminded me, my mum used to give a bit of tinned fish every week to her old dog, just mixed in with her usual stuff.
