Put a combination lock on the fridge.:rotfl:
Or, bung it all in the freezer.Felines are my favourite

I'm not really sure what to suggest, perhaps put some portions aside with a big "leftovers" label and the rest with "don't touch"?
*edit* the freezer suggestion sounds like a good one.Old-Style Enthusiast :j0 -

annoying isnt it? you have a half chicken which will make a perfectly good supper for 4, leftover after sunday lunch - you pop out for half an hour and when you come back the bu99er has eaten more than half of it. just enough left for HIS sarnies the next day!!!
its justifiable homicide hun!
but - its far easier to just hide it in the freezer and recycle it another time! you could also buy a large tupperware type box to keep in the fridge and label it 'munchies' or whatever and fill that with whatever you dont mind them having. ditto one with non-fridge items to go on worktop. and put notices on the fridge that anything taken other than OUT of the munchie box will mean sanctions will be imposed!0 -
OMG this is our house!! It drives me mad. I am trying to be super organised with meal planning etc but OH is always going to the fridge and devouring everything in sight especially hunks of meat. The most infuriating is when he gets up in the middle of the night and polishes off the contents of the fridge and then denies all knowledge of it so hes not even enjoying it!
I'm dreading packed lunches as my 'weeks worth' never lasts more than a couple of days!! and now my 2 sons seem to be catching onto the fridge raiding. I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle!
wow sorry, butting into your rant there but I feel your pain!! good luck. maybe the freezers the way to go!!0 -
ha don't feel bad for jumping on the wagon, i feel better knowing im not the only person struggling with this!
I'm all in favor of the freezer thing, but i want to leftovers tommorrow so freezing tonight seems abit silly, but then again i suppose it's better than watching them be devoured and not having them any night. Honestly i'm sure he has a detector anything i don't mind him eating he doesn't touch, anything i need/want and it's gone.0 -
I am so glad that others are suffering like this as well, OH and eldest son are the worst culprits, youngest is such a fussy eater and would only eat certain things. And it is always within a couple of hours of eating, tonight for example I made a pasta sauce from scratch we had with pasta (doh!) and also made homemade pizza with stuffed crust, I made 2 pizza's one for tonight and one to freeze for next week when I am back at work - I also doubled up on the pasta sauce as well. The sauce is still in the fridge, but just popped to my parents and when I got home making a cup of tea, got the milk out and discovered one quarter of one pizza left!!! it was about 16" big - I am so cross. They are always moaning that there is no food in the house I wonder why - is it a male hormone thing do you think!!!!!Fibro-Warrior0

Ok so my OH knows money is tight and is on board the moneysaving train. That is right up untill he's hungry add to that two pre-teen boy's with hollow legs and i just can't seem to keep them all fed without spending a fortune.
All three of them will open up the fridge without thought, eating anything and everything they see. My husband is the worse culprit as i can usually distract the kids with something cheap/sweet like homemade cake.
However my OH will quite happily open up the fridge to find the leftover chilli that WAS enough for an entire meal for the family.... bung the whole lot in the micro and sit eating it in front of the TV with a spoon with no thought of at least helping himself to a small bowl, with rice or bread because of course that would require effort.
This happened on Saturday, i got to sunday to find the Chilli that HAD been plenty for tea was half eaten, in his defence he did eat only half the meal intended for 4 despite having had lunch and dinner already!
Today i cooked a Massive gammon joint, did some with new pot's and veg for tonight.
Then planned to have some tommorrow in a Bacon and Bean Cassarole and have enough leftover for carbonara on Thursday.
Up i go for a bath ... downstairs i come and the &**^%$ is sitting in front of the TV with the plate on his lap having eaten a good kg of gammon, because he wanted something to nibble. He only had his tea 2 hours ago! there is loads of other food in the house, i made cookies earlier.. but no he had to go for the slab of meat!
i've tried asking him to ask before taking leftovers but he just doens't seem to get it.
Anyone else had to cope with this?? suggestions please before i end up locked up for murder.
I feel your pain!:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j0 -
Just to say that I feel your pain - my OH and kids do exactly the same to me too. It drives me bonkers - especially as the OH can eat his own bodyweight in lard and not gain an ounce of weight.
