This is the second time I've asked this today, but here goes, if you both work FT, why do you do all the cooking

    Penny. x
If its anything like when I was married to the ex and w*rking FT, (gods, those were the days! Not!:D) it was easier than the total bomb-site that would be left for me to clean up afterwards. It was only with hindsight that I realised the bomb-site was a deliberate ploy to get out of doing anything.

When we were in counselling my Ex actually admitted to deliberatly doing stuff wrong so he wouldn't be asked again. They're not as daft as they make out you know !
I think the same goes for accidently forgetting they're not supposed to eat the sausages etc !

If I batch cook for the freezer I portion it up and used to try to leave it somewhere that ex and the kids wouldn't think of looking to cool down! Now the kids are pretty used to seeing several lasagnes in the oven, and usually ask before helping themselves to stuff, just in case it's part of a future meal plan. The kids often do the week's mealplan themselves, each taking a turn, it does mean that they understand that if they (usually ds) eat a "snack" of all the sausages then there won't be any toad in the hole or whatever, and they have to explain why to the others!

Perhaps if you operate an out of sight policy your oh won't know there's anything there to snack on! Or you could just leave a note on it saying don't eat as this is tomorrows dinner - then if he does eat it he can't deny knowledge of your planning and he gets an extra turn at cooking from whatever leftovers he can find that aren't on any mealplan you might've made!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:my ex used to do that too, but I'm just as stubborn and told him he'd have to do whatever it was, from emptying the bins to filling the washing machine to hoovering, constantly until he mastered it - practice makes perfect ;)

    Perhaps there's a reason he's an ex now! :o:p

:rotfl::rotfl:Perhaps that's why, 2nd time around, I married someone who already knew how to drive the washing machine, hoover, etc.:D;)
Downside is that he's actually a better cook than me.:p

I have this problem too. My Oh doesn't even live here but comes for Tea most nights. If there's something in a pan cooling he'll just eat it all:mad:. Last week i made an 8 portion fish pie and he ate his then when he i was still in the Dining room he ate the 4 portions that were still in the dish. The only way to stop him is to portion it up then he mostly leaves it alone. Also if somethings in the fridge he'll ask first. It's a pain though because no matter how many times i tell him he still does it.

oooo hollyh i wouldnt be standing for that! specially as he doesnt actually live with you  next time tell him in a restuarant that would cost xxx amount per portion and if he does it again you'll charge him!:rotfl: bless em eh!

mu oh is pretty good, although he does like to knick a spoonfull here and there out the pans. my main gripe is taking food off the plate before we've all sat down, for some reason this drives me mad and always results in a slapped hand!

as for the question why when you both work fulltime do you do all the cooking? well for us its because i find cooking an easy wind down, i actually enjoy it, there are days i cant be bothered but then oh takes over and cooks for us ;)

I get round this by having a special shelf in the fridge for "eat it if you want" food, and everything else is off-limits unless you ask. (Except for milk of course.) I got totally fed up finding ingredients for meals going missing and no, it wasn't the kids doing it, they're trained, but OH coming back from the pub and thinking "yummm...I fancy...".

Anyway, on this shelf goes odds and ends, portions of leftovers that I haven't got round to freezing or anything that's on the use by date I want rid of. Plus the odd whoopsie of things he likes, plus plentiful non-ingredient basics. Plenty to choose from, he's happy, my blood pressure stays low!
